I run my own construction business here in Qld Australia, last week I paid $5k for a paint machine, I nearly shit my pants parting with the money and spent days afterward talking to anyone who would listen about my justifications for said purchase. Long story short -NEVER waste an opportunity. Excellent purchase guys!!! I don't give a shit what u spend your hard earned $ on. Just stay real.
King Konstruct i run a telecommunications business in Qld Australia, well said bloke! i agree totally, i just love seeing Jessie and Alyssa having a go. good on them. 😊
You will not regret it.Its just really nice to have a machine around that you don't have to wait for the rental place to drop off, or find not available when you actually need it. Congratulations!
Love your videos and don't believe I've missed any!!! Jesse, you are one of the luckiest guys on earth!!! To have a good woman like Alissa who pulls on her boots and gloves to share in the hard work it takes to do what you guys are doing is outstanding. Thanks for sharing with us the great journey you two are on, you can be very proud of your accomplishments.
Having had a limited amount of time on a back how I can tell you it's probably the best piece of equipment you could have bought. Sure it won't do everything but it can do a lot. It will pay for itself in the long run. Excellent purchase.
Having three neighbors who have backhoes, and how they get used for so much more than just digging dirt. This will do so, so, so much for you! Congratulations!
Kody Amos are you an economic consultant? maybe you can give me your phone number so that i can pay you to give me some advice that clearly you seem to be able to sell.
I'm so happy for you too . You have needed this equipment for a long time. I have a super LT 40 and the amount of production we get done with having a skid steer around to move the logs is probably 3 to 4 times what we could do by hand and if you're going to build A timber frame house you're going to have large Timbers and they're too heavy to move by hand. Think about a set of forks it will make your life so much easier. And I agree with you about letting the wife run the equipment I'm currently teaching my wife how to run our E80 excavator I think will just another five hours she's gonna do a great job with our equipment.
I was wondering when you were going to pull the trigger on this. One of the BEST investments you could have made, and IMHO, you did it the right way, the first time. No farting around with Dingo's, Bobcat's or Kubota's, you went right for the jugular. Nice... Case 580 = small enough for small jobs, big enough for big jobs, plus it has a Cummins power-plant that sips fuel. Much love, You Two.
"And IMHO, you did it the right way, the first time. No farting around with Dingo's, Bobcat's or Kubota's, you went right for the jugular." Very succinct observation. And, advice to heed.
Thank you guys. We all appreciate you bringing us along on your home build and property development journey! We don't care so much about the timing just keep the videos coming.
thank you Alyssa for editing the vids. thank you Jesse for explaining your journey and why you made the decisions you made. thank you Bug-a-boo for being you.
I'll give you some basic advice keep it clean ( pressure washed) keep it Greased. cleanliness is a fundamental of preventive Maintenance. It will let you see cracks, corrosion, loose bolts, etc.
Once you have equipment you find that you use it for everything. No more lifting heavy weights again. I'm surprised it took them this long to buy one, especially when you get your money back when selling it. The only thing I could think of was they were afraid of maintenance and repair.
If you do so much changes around house as they right now, it is more reasonable to buy this. If you need it for a few hours a year, you will rent it, as you mentioned. Will need some time/money to keep it alive, but for there amount of work around it make sense... :)
Future Hindsight Meanwhile, back in the real world, people don't worry about these things. Real people help friends and family. Sometimes for kindness, sometimes for barter or money. Accidents happen, but you don't have to tell the insurance company know you were working for hire.
I liked the comment from the seller.... "Never did much with it, just used it". Hopefully they did the scheduled maintenance. If not, one of the most important things you can do when buying a used piece of equipment is perform the maintenance. Change the fluids and filters. Replacement parts for these things are VERY expensive. Get yourself a good grease gun, use the proper grease and GREASE that baby regularly.
Thank you Alissa! You guys are such a great team! Love the new equipment, great asset for a property like yours! There's not a lazy bone in either of your bodies.
guys..this video is funny cause i do the same thing on big purchases..talk myself in to the reasons why...its obvious you need heavy equipment..its invaulable on a property build out..congrats..
Smart move to buy the backhoe now, great find. My hat is off to both of you for finding each other in the first place and for sharing your tactics and journey. You are truly blessed.
Good job guys! Thank you Alyssa! You guys are doing a great job should only listen to the positive feedback and/or helpful advice that you get in the comment section. You are constantly learning to do new things and I really appreciate that you guys work really hard.
thanks you both for the great videos I've been watching for a while now Rome wasn't built in a day and you too or busy little bees trying to get your little home into shape as far as other people or concerned don't let them bother you big guy let her do whatever she wants to do more power to you both God bless hope it's a lot cooler for you out there now....👍😉 that the temp went down.
Congratulations! My dad had a '90 Case 580K for his construction business. It has all the same features that yours does. I put in a lot of hours in on it, those are great workhorse machines! A few tips: If you are not using the extendahoe, there should be a hole in the dipper boom where you can insert a pin that goes all the way through. If you install that pin, it will provide strain relief to the seals on the extendahoe cylinder. You should particularly do this if digging up stumps or large rocks. Take really good care of the hood latch; keep it lubricated and replace worn parts. What I have seen happen is they get dirty and dried out, don't want to release easily, so someone takes a hammer to it to open the hood, they bend it, and then you have a hood that won't latch. If you are using it a lot, every day or two take a grease gun around and put a few squirts into all the grease fittings (there are a lot). It's easy to forget about them, but take the time and effort and it will pay off in the long run! Best of luck!
We enjoy watching the videos. Sometimes we tease about Alyssa doing the "labor" while Jessy "plays" on the equipment. Of course we know why this occurs. However, when you said you would like to meet those who criticize you, in an alley to settle it. We got quite a chuckle when my wife said..."You better bring Alyssa!" Keep up the hard work. We admire your ethic.
Good for you guys! I was wondering when you were going to buy one. Rent adds up and you two still have plenty to do. Now you have to build a nice home to protect it during the frosty Winters in Idaho. Thank you, Alyssa, for your editing expertise. Angel from The Bay
Congratulations on your backhoe! You're going to love having one that is available anytime you may need to use it. Keep up the good work and don't let the negative comments discourage you in your efforts to live life to the fullest. Follow your dreams and make it happen! Thanks for the videos; a lot of us enjoy following the channel.
What I have learned from 50 years of marriage (to one woman LoL) is you learn from each other. Both of you have skills & talents different from one another, and like water, you will balance out. What you are building is not a home. You are building Marriage! Love your videos, please keep it up.
I wish my wife was more like yours because I build a kit home 87 to 88. I worked on 85% of the build. Out of that I did 75% of the work by myself. Out of that she might have help with 1% but to hear her talk she did 50%. All she did was hold something till I nailed it down and help clean up. So you are very lucky that she will work with you.
All I see is a couple working together to build their life! My wife and I work hand and hand very similar to you guys and we complement each other as you two do. All that work will build a relationship 99% of people will only dream of ever having. Trust me we have been going now for 22 years and love each other more than ever. Also Love the purchase, sell once done with building home buy a smaller tractor type deal to do daily life stuff/homestead stuff. Awesome!
You two are a great team, you compliment each other, your strengths and weaknesses...which is what makes you a great team! Thank you Alyssa for all the editing of quality videos!(hope I spelled your name correctly) I really enjoy the privilege of being taken along with you two on your journey of building your home...and life. It is so nice to see and hear the commitment you have to each other and your common ground on ideas. Another great video, thanks!
It will be a handy tool, use your imagination to come up uses. Next purchase should be a grease gun. I don't see any grease oozing out of the pins anywhere.
I have no doubt the you will be up on that equipment and working like a pro in no time, Alyssa! It's great to have family who can help and a big thank you to them for being there for the two of you. Looking forward to all the videos you've shot.
Pretty soon, this piece of equipment means they can get started on working on the foundation and then, depending on permits and inspection time frames, will start the building process...
This will give you the boost that you have needed to get to the next level. Congratulations on a very wise investment! Regards and best wishes from Texas!
Congrats on the new gear day! I've been on lots of new home construction crews and you can definitely dig a foundation with a backhoe. You need a skinnier bucket but I've worked on plenty of backhoe cut foundations. For example if your foundation is 6" wide you need at least 5' more for the forms and stakes so a 12' bucket works.
You both are very thrifty and work hard to get what you have. That backhoe can make you money if you decide to work it for others but I understand its for your future projects. Glad to see you are working this out together because together you guys are strong enough to make it work. Everyone has to make financial decisions. Yours is not any different. Onward!
CONGRATS on the purchase. That backhoe will make your life sooo much easier. thanks for all the effort you two put into these videos. God Bless and good luck.
Plowing with this model is very doable. Here in the Monadnocks of NH, in late fall we drop the back hoe then swap it out for a drag blade, we put on all 4 tire chains (a must for stopping on ice and not falling off the mountain side), then we add a bolt on Minute-Mount plow mount to the bucket. This allows us to back drag a closer cleaner path around items or buildings of importance. The Traditional snow-plow makes moving snow less strenuous on your loader. Trying to push a bucket loads of heavy snow long distances will lead to failures on that sweet little '91. After plowing the bulk of the snow out of the way, drop the Minute-Mount and bucket the rest over the embankments. If you Bee's wax the inside of the bucket or use one of those lanolin base undercoating the snow won't stick so bad to that plow mount and the bucket's interior surface. Best of luck...
Congrats on the new equipment!!! I love that Alisa works long hard hours out there with you! You guys are a great team. I had no idea your videos were so delayed. Love the videos and still just behind you in my build! Thanks so much for all the help!
Thank you Alyssa. & Thank you, both for the videos. It is my birthday today and i really was happy to have a new exciting video to watch for my birthday. Keep up the great work.
I wouldn't have said anything, but you guys brought it up and it does seem like she does the lion's share most of the time. She is awesome; face it you are looking to marry up!
Another comment from the UK. To start with - thank you, Alyssa. Thank you both. I sometimes puzzle about the sequence of your videos, I see things in the background of one video that you haven't got yet!! But that all adds to my enjoyment in being a spectator to your adventure. I look forward to the next video!!!!
those haters dont know what they are talking about!! i love you guys! i watch your videos religiously! and i love seeing melissa out there getting ish done #girlpower!!!!
You guys rock! Keep up the great work! Don't let anyone get you down because of how you guys divide your labor. You're doing great and my wife and I love watching your videos. We can't wait to see what comes next!
Patrick Legault , in a previous video they were back filling with sand on the rigid joiner pipe, for all the negative feedback back and making money of YT you think they would have filmed it?
Thank you for the great videos! My wife and I enjoy seeing you two overcome challenges to build the life you want. We have different challenges as we bought the family homestead that my wife grew up on and are busy "retooling" it from commercial nursery and gardens to farming. We can relate though, we both grew up in multiple house builds and property development projects where our family did all the work. I can't even imagine how much extra work filming and editing takes. Thank you for sharing your journey! Don't sweat those that want to tell you how they want to see your journey unfold, because they often are not on a "life adventure" of their one. Know what I mean Vern!
You have to understand Jesse's personality though. He is one of those guys who has a stream of a hundred things running through his head and he doesn't MEAN to cut her off but you must interrupt someone to point out the deer in the background...he did apologize right after as well.
You cannot go wrong with good equipment. I have a 2010 Massey Ferguson tractor and I use the heck out of it and I bet I have had 4 or 5 offers for it because it does not have the tier 4 emissions. You did well and it will make life so much easier for everything including the timber. You will get your moneys worth in the long run. Alyssa is really good with that camera.
Congrats! Make sure you have a full service done on it asap regardless of what the previous owner said was done. The vast majority of breakages can be prevented or at least mitigated by timely and thorough maintenance.
A very good purchase, can be used for a lot of other things and when you don't need it anymore, you can sell it but it probably be a keeper. I just watch a video of yours where yall were thankful for a neighbor and his family, now yall are that person and can help others.
6:58 Oh man, so we are not going to see any DIY heavy equipment repair? That would be so sweet to watch you mess up your backhoe I can see it now "Folks, the TRUTH is just like water systems, hydraulic systems leak. Anyone who says differently is a purest and should not be listened to".
I'm really glad to see you guys get this machine. It will definitely make your lives easier. I would have recommended a farm tractor that allows you to use different attachments on the rear hitch, but you can always do that later. Great purchase.
Congrats on the acquisition. That tractor is a very good piece of equipment, 91 isn't old. If it don't smoke like crazy at startup or use oil in excess there's a promise of more usable time in it's life. You were right about the turbo'd models. Best have a sound tractor with equipment as one unit instead of attachments, there lies more issues. Hope to see more with it getting things done. You guy's are dealing with your project with attitude and faith in all around you and family support, that rocks. keep on moving on.
Thank you Miss Alyssa for the inspiration that you are to me. I have watched you guys for a long time and I have learned soo much. One thing that shines through is the love the two of you share. Once again thank You.
Elisa is the best at video editing aaaaand.....one hell of a worker. It's a good thing you have all this documented because some day it's going to make great information and entertainment for the grandkids.
Alyssa is awesome! Great piece of equipment . Now you need a set of pallet forks for it. They will save so much lifting of lumber etc. . If you put everything on skids and pallets you can rearrange everything in your yard in minutes! Forks are a definate "must have". Congratulations!
I've been watching for prob about a year. Totally addicted to your channel. Y'all are awesome! Can't wait to see the walls start to go up! I feel like I'm on the sideline cheering GO GO GO GO!!! keep up the awesomeness!!
Thanks guys for the videos and I just love how you two work together. A special thank you to Alyssa. You never have to say "we're sorry" for any delays in getting these great videos out to us. If I can wait months for the Walking Dead to return each season, I can definitely wait a bit for your videos. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoy you two and the kitty.
its so refreshing to see two people who have so much respect for each other.
Craigslist doesn't exist in Australia mate.
King Konstruct i run a telecommunications business in Qld Australia, well said bloke! i agree totally, i just love seeing Jessie and Alyssa having a go. good on them. 😊
Thank you Alyssa ! :-)
I think you guys are awesome and work together like a excellent team together. And thanks Alissa for all the great editing on the videos .
thank you Alyssa for editing and posting the videos :-)
Thank you Alyssa!
Agree, thank you Alyssa!
You will not regret it.Its just really nice to have a machine around that you don't have to wait for the rental place to drop off, or find not available when you actually need it. Congratulations!
Glad you got a nice backhoe. It will be a BIG help on the homestead. GOD bless, JC
Thank you, Alyssa. I do appreciate your hard work producing the videos.
Love your videos and don't believe I've missed any!!! Jesse, you are one of the luckiest guys on earth!!! To have a good woman like Alissa who pulls on her boots and gloves to share in the hard work it takes to do what you guys are doing is outstanding. Thanks for sharing with us the great journey you two
are on, you can be very proud of your accomplishments.
the one thing i can say is : buy a grease gun and use it .
grease is cheaper than metal
Definitely, much cheaper to maintain equipment than to repair it.
Good for you two, Case makes great equipment and it should serve you well.
I was born in 91 and I cringed when you said it's almost 30. I am 26 thank you very much!
I *dig* the new equipment!!
I'm 26 as well but it's a bit different when talking about equipment lol
I born in 90! Felt the same way hahah
im a 91 and still 25!
8 years is just out of high school?! haha!
Kody Amos are you an economic consultant? maybe you can give me your phone number so that i can pay you to give me some advice that clearly you seem to be able to sell.

Thank you guys. We all appreciate you bringing us along on your home build and property development journey! We don't care so much about the timing just keep the videos coming.
I'm supporting you without paying a dime. I enjoy all your videos.
thank you Alyssa for editing the vids. thank you Jesse for explaining your journey and why you made the decisions you made. thank you Bug-a-boo for being you.
thank you alyssa and congratulations for the new equipment 😊

Yup, I will buy tractors at auctions as I need them and sell them as my projects are completed and if you know the business, they're a money maker...
Or rent it or use it for trade with their neighbors... Lots of ways it can pay them back later...

What I have seen happen is they get dirty and dried out, don't want to release easily, so someone takes a hammer to it to open the hood, they bend it, and then you have a hood that won't latch.

thank you Alysia I love all your guys videos and I'm enjoying being part of this journey with you guys

Your decision, your money, keep up the good work. Some day you'll sitting on your deck drinking coffee.
Nice gesture Jesse, I agree! Thank you Allysa, I enjoy watching your videos. I watch two or three every morning!

Jesse, when will you start building your home, I liked the video
I doubt they will ever get round to it in all honesty.
Ellis York the house will arrive on a low loader from one of those we make log cabins .
Well that's some baseless cynacism. Looking forward to it are you?
When the UA-cam money stops. They have no interest in building a house. They're very likely not even a couple.
Pretty soon, this piece of equipment means they can get started on working on the foundation and then, depending on permits and inspection time frames, will start the building process...
Thank you Alissa for all the work editing videos and all the hard work you put in with Jesse making it possible for us to see. Love your videos.
This will give you the boost that you have needed to get to the next level. Congratulations on a very wise investment!

+Sand Hollow Homestead Thanks a bunch for the kinds words and support!
awesome buy... my uncle ran that same model for many years doing foundations and dirt work. great machine.
Great Buy, will save a lot of rental fees, and time!
Thanks Alyssa! And Jessie! My grandson and I are really enjoying your journey - - -
I suspected as much.
Jesse is addicted to tools.
Thats all it is.
The homestead is just an excuse for him to go supercrazy :D
Yep. Alyssa needs to tighten the leash
Fambaa, you say that like it's a bad thing!?!?! :-)
Love is also an addiction. So no, not necessarily :D
CONGRATS on the purchase. That backhoe will make your life sooo much easier. thanks for all the effort you two put into these videos. God Bless and good luck.

Congrats on the new equipment!!!
I love that Alisa works long hard hours out there with you! You guys are a great team.

Thanks so much for all the help!

I wouldn't have said anything, but you guys brought it up and it does seem like she does the lion's share most of the time. She is awesome; face it you are looking to marry up!
Thank you Alissa/Alyssa!!! The videos are great guys. I look forward to them. Take care, mossy.
You are doing great. keep them coming.
Buying new stuff like this will always put a smile on your face. Just look at their grins.. they cant help it.
As a bonus, you could make some money with that equipment if you needed another source of income.
ryfish5 They are making $ 10,000+ monthly already.
I'm sure you have something resembling a source because all evidence I have access to point to the opposite.
Old Timey Wookworker - You're pulling numbers out of your backside. If I was that jealous, I'd just walk away and not let the world know about it.
John Hull Oh, I'm sure they'll benefit in some form or another. But that's not what guys like the woodworker dude claim all over the comment section.
+ Candace Eckels If you did watch these vids religiously you would probably know her name is Alissa not Melissa.
mark card lmao😂😂😂 good catch!!!
"help neighbours with" priceless statement.
Thank you Alyssa! :o)
You guys rock! Keep up the great work! Don't let anyone get you down because of how you guys divide your labor. You're doing great and my wife and I love watching your videos. We can't wait to see what comes next!
did you finally fix your water leak?
Patrick Legault thats why they bought the backhoe ,so they can dig it up again
They fixed it. No video, but they put it in the comments.
*Alyssa gets cut off alot when she's talking, I actually like to hear her perspective on the projects.*
Woohoo 20 min vlog!
Congrats! Make sure you have a full service done on it asap regardless of what the previous owner said was done. The vast majority of breakages can be prevented or at least mitigated by timely and thorough maintenance.
Is that Letsdig18"s old backhoe
letsdig18 did have black decals by accident.....and it looks to have black decals
its not letsdig18 he didnt have 4 sticks great machines i hope anyways love the progress they have made
Robert Martin oh good catch....I didn't pa that much attention on that.
A very good purchase, can be used for a lot of other things and when you don't need it anymore, you can sell it but it probably be a keeper. I just watch a video of yours where yall were thankful for a neighbor and his family, now yall are that person and can help others.
Who drinks coffee via a straw?
SirVixIsVexed see people drink wine through a straw for the same reason.
It will sure help with the snow this winter! Plus your neighbors will be thankful for help.
6:58 Oh man, so we are not going to see any DIY heavy equipment repair? That would be so sweet to watch you mess up your backhoe I can see it now "Folks, the TRUTH is just like water systems, hydraulic systems leak. Anyone who says differently is a purest and should not be listened to".
hahaha i laughed way to hard on this
Congratulations! Seems like something you will use a lot and then be able to sell again when you're done.
Debt Free my ass
congratulations on the debt free ass.
All of our collective asses are in the hole!
SirVixIsVexed yours is built inside out?
your donkey has no credit score ...
That's crazy why run out an buy a backhoe I just understand ya,ll
I'm really glad to see you guys get this machine. It will definitely make your lives easier. I would have recommended a farm tractor that allows you to use different attachments on the rear hitch, but you can always do that later. Great purchase.
Thank you Alyssa for editing and posting the videos.
What you two are doing is awesome. Thanks for documenting your true life experiences while building your home together. Great job so far, keep it up.
Thank you Alyssa. Thank you both. Congratulations on the new buy and your success. Great video!!!
Thank you Elisa! I so much enjoy watching your videos, guys...
Thank you Alyssa!!! Thank you for all your editing.
Thank you both for hosing this wonderful channel, and sharing your learnings, and process.
Elisa is the best at video editing aaaaand.....one hell of a worker. It's a good thing you have all this documented because some day it's going to make great information and entertainment for the grandkids.
Thank you Alyssa for all your hard work.
I think all that hard work she does outside keeps her in very good shape. she looks great
Alyssa is awesome!
