I heard Boney M. for the first time while studying in France. They were, and are still I suspect, HUGE in France. Funny how they never really caught on here in the US. Long LIVE Boney M.! One of the all time greatest groups! Great memories indeed! xoxox P.
Love their music, songs and style.. one of my all time favourite band ❤️BONEY M...
Awesome. I just learned about this for the first time from a friend in Croatia. Reminds me of Haiti where I have been 23 times. Haiti perseveres because its people honor and trust God. " May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be worthy of God, my Strength and Savior."
Such a talented group of people, reminds me of Christmas whenever I hear the ladies singing however because all Christmas growing up my mom would play the Boney M Christmas album.
The Rivers of Babylon should be a reminder of all those who survived slavery and the obstacles that came with it, and what they had to endure and overcome. Let's not forget. A great song of hope which we still need.
Compare this with the wonderful chorus "Va, pensiero, sull'ali dorate" from Verdi's Nabucco. So many beautiful cries for freedom and dignity, from people of so many cultures! Love this so much.

Thank you for this presentation. Inspiring. Here is the TRUTH of Babylon! Are we in Babylon inside us? Or free in the Spirit of Zion? Great praise the desire to be in Zion! Zion is where God had made His home on earth capital. Babylon had conquered the world. One day it was told to the people of God they would return to Zion as a free people (Psalm 137) and this song, i believe, is for all of us who have come to the place in our lives where we too need to dwell in Zion! THERE IS A WAY RIGHT WHERE WE SIT. 2 Samuel chap 22: verse 50 "Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name." We also give God glory by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'” Mark chap 16: verse 15 "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" Romans chap 10: verse 14 Romans chap 10: verse 17 Then faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God. Isaiah chap 7: verse 14: "Therefore the LORD shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and call His name Immanuel." Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. His terrible ordeal; body mutilated; blood poured out, finally died and was placed in a tomb and rose from the dead the 3rd day ! "HE IS RISEN" Matthew chap 28: verse 6 Isaiah chap 53: verse 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Jesus Christ loves us. He took the pain and torture and death to free all who come to Him as John says below) John chap 3: verse 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him could be saved. “All have sinned and lack the glory of God”; Romans chap 3: verse 23 "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans chap 6: verse 23 John chap 14: verse 6 “Jesus said to him: I am the way and the truth and the life; no one can come to my Father unless it is through me. “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and he was buried, and on the third day he was resurrected according to the Scriptures” 1 Cor. chap 15: verses 3-4 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the richness of his grace"; Ephesians. chap 1: verse 7 Matthew chap 26:verse 28 "For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (the life is in the blood. He had to pay with His life) "And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." Hebrews chap 9:verse 22 Ephesians chap 2:verses 8-9 "For it was by grace that you were saved by faith, and it is not from you, it is a gift from God, and it is not a work that no one can boast." Romans 10: 9 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, then you will be saved. 10 For with all his heart man believes unto righteousness; and by mouth a confession is made for salvation. 13 For whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. TO DIE IS TO REJECT SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST AND BE SEPARATE FROM GOD FOREVERMORE Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those who reject the free gift of salvation, see John chapt 3: verse 16 above, "perish", which means their sins are judged by God the Son and they suffer eternal separation from God and the family of God forever called the "second death". Revelation chap 21: verse 8. "Therefore, since we were justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans chap 5: verse 1

I heard Boney M. for the first time while studying in France. They were, and are still I suspect, HUGE in France. Funny how they never really caught on here in the US. Long LIVE Boney M.! One of the all time greatest groups! Great memories indeed! xoxox P.
Liz the lead singer is still performing in her 70s 😊

Awesome. I just learned about this for the first time from a friend in Croatia. Reminds me of Haiti where I have been 23 times. Haiti perseveres because its people honor and trust God. " May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be worthy of God, my Strength and Savior."
Amen.
Such a talented group of people, reminds me of Christmas whenever I hear the ladies singing however because all Christmas growing up my mom would play the Boney M Christmas album.
What a great band of all time. Oh Jesus time has just gone and miss all this our times
great great great song!
The Rivers of Babylon should be a reminder of all those who survived slavery and the obstacles that came with it, and what they had to endure and overcome. Let's not forget. A great song of hope which we still need.
It has been a favourite song since my childhood. We used to listen to this while preparing for Christmas.
The birth of Jesus in everyone's heart brings peace to the world. Wish you a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year 2020.

Compare this with the wonderful chorus "Va, pensiero, sull'ali dorate" from Verdi's Nabucco. So many beautiful cries for freedom and dignity, from people of so many cultures! Love this so much.
My dad used to sing this song to me and my brother when we were younger.
Things were better then, but atleast I've got those memories.

2 Samuel chap 22: verse 50 "Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name."
We also give God glory by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'” Mark chap 16: verse 15
"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" Romans chap 10: verse 14
Romans chap 10: verse 17 Then faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God.
"HE IS RISEN" Matthew chap 28: verse 6
Isaiah chap 53: verse 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Jesus Christ loves us. He took the pain and torture and death to free all who come to Him as John says below)
John chap 3: verse 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him could be saved.
“All have sinned and lack the glory of God”; Romans chap 3: verse 23
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans chap 6: verse 23
John chap 14: verse 6 “Jesus said to him: I am the way and the truth and the life; no one can come to my Father unless it is through me.
“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and he was buried, and on the third day he was resurrected according to the Scriptures” 1 Cor. chap 15: verses 3-4
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the richness of his grace"; Ephesians. chap 1: verse 7
Matthew chap 26:verse 28 "For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (the life is in the blood. He had to pay with His life)
"And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." Hebrews chap 9:verse 22
Ephesians chap 2:verses 8-9 "For it was by grace that you were saved by faith, and it is not from you, it is a gift from God, and it is not a work that no one can boast."
Romans 10:
9 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, then you will be saved.
10 For with all his heart man believes unto righteousness; and by mouth a confession is made for salvation.
13 For whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
TO DIE IS TO REJECT SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST AND BE SEPARATE FROM GOD FOREVERMORE
Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Still one of my fav's, so upbeat you can't help but sing a long.

My childhood ❤
Psalm 137 NKJV -
By the rivers of Babylon,
There we sat down, yea, we wept
When we remembered Zion.
We hung our harps
Upon the willows in the midst of it.
For there those who carried us away captive asked of us a song,
And those who plundered us requested mirth,
Saying, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!” How shall we sing the LORD’s song
In a foreign land?
Psalm 19:14 NKJV -
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.
