Sometimes I mess up and accidentally play the same note on two different strings, I didn't know it could sound this cool though. I'll definitely find a way to make this work in my playing.
When you first see Rick you think he’d be another older guy who just plays intermediate blues but then he just starts shredding better than 90% of guitarist in Metal
In a good way for some reason this progession reminds me of Sail on Soothsayer by Buckethead. I dont have a clue what he is playing though! Enjoyed the video!!!!!!!
I like doing that too. Guitar and instruments like it are amongst the few that can actually play unisons on one instrument. So I like doing it, even though it's incredibly subtle haha. I'm not sure if anyone ever knows I'm doing it, but I know I'm doing it and that's enough for me lol.
Playing the guitar for twenty some years I still haven't got the theoretical insight, but I definitely like what I'm hearing here! So Rick, if you're reading this, have you written any great songs that you you would like to break down for us? Not just the cords, but more like the whole process? Greetings from Norway 🤠
I have never played guitar, but on New years '89 eve shooting pool at a party I was playing air guitar on my cue and my friend asked me what song I was playin? BTW he's been a guitar player since he was a kid 🤯. I was air guitaring to Rush Freewill in my head...🎸🤘
I wish I had some music theory knowledge or a teacher like u ...but I didn't dedicated enough on my guitar playing instead wasted time on other things now I regret it.....I just wasted time ....there is a saying u can't gain any knowledge without a teacher by ur side so damn true...I wish I went to a teacher instead of learning it myself...
I always consider aeolian as natural minor because of the book I learned guitar from. I always consider harmonic and and melodic minor to be alternative options rather than actual minor scales
Dude I’m so so far behind on theory… I’m grabbing info from everywhere the last few years , but a lot of this I watch hoping someday it will all click…
You can try playing extended pentas with unison!! Meaning two pentas that are consecutive, big stretches, by the way that Em add 9 sounds like a E7#9 👍
Hey Rick before jumping around could you please explain the hell across the string Unison is? Quick lesson I'm going to say a thing and then I'm not going to explain what it is. Not cool bro
i love these clips, i have no idea what he's saying, but the music is lovely.
Sounds like you need the beato book, that would not only help him but teach you what he says and means
Or a teacher.
or a skateboard nooor........

“Like that” after what I could only call sorcery. What a legend
Rick you just bring so much more enjoyment to music I just wanted to thank you for that.
Disclaimer: NEVER lick a secret weapon!
All these licks make me feel like I've been up for 12 hours playing pacman.
me just sitting here watching Rick's videos like I know what he's talking about
Great admiration to guitarists who are able to glide so inventively around the fret board.
When you first see Rick you think he’d be another older guy who just plays intermediate blues but then he just starts shredding better than 90% of guitarist in Metal
when?
@@freezingcathedral never he sucks
Dang maestro, it looked like you had six fingers on your left hand there for a minute.

Polyphonic instruments is the categorization you are thinking about I believe
God dammit dude it's too good, have you tried tapping the riffs.

Simply sublime lick from a great musician.

Since I don’t play any instrument, this all looks like fucking magic to me. Nonetheless, I find it fascinating.
What is the atmospheric effect playing in the background? Is that a loop pedal or something?
This is what I came here to ask. I hope my reply bumps the question up.
Cross string with some unison and sus2 , love it!
Thank you Rick for all you do! Scott Henderson uses cross string unions in some of his lines.
These shorts are great for my ADD keep ‘me coming!
Jaco used to do this beautifully… It’s really hard to imitate but sounds great if you can nail it
Rick. I just got love your shows. Would you consider doing a show on syncopation ...maybe some examples? That would be so cool!!
The unisons makes it kinda kinda sparkly
Beautiful SG Rick. As always you've blown my mind and humbled me at the same time.
This lick is pure expression, but please post your entire Signal Chain!!
What a gift to all guitar players you are Rick…
I always feel like Billy Madison when he is learning Spanish. “Slow down” lol
That sounded exciting to my ears
Rick, will you release an improv based around some of these atmospheric sounds ?
Unfortunately my hands can't do what Rick's can do...
Like Eric Johnson doing an intro solo for Night Falls Down from Judas Priest
The boss !
Beautiful SG!!
That’s a great SG!
Rick makes the best shorts 🩳 😅
Sounds like a technique Frank used. 👍🏼
In the E minor phrase, it was very Bulb of you!
I bought the Beato book and just got the update.....thank you so much for the guide it's making alot more sense to my feeble brain.
Man that guy is great
The pad that he uses in the background is by far the most beautiful sounding pad
Love it!
Rick did you try to give me a Fender guitar this morning?
I always watch in amazement. I lost the use of my ring finger a few ago. I must use my pinky in place of my ring finger. Have you any licks???
Sr. You are amazing!!
Very Robert Fripp

Very good Rick,.. Reminds me of Vinnie Moore
Thankyou Rick !!you rock
how many books do I have to study to be able to master guitar like you, sir.....
Great lighting !!
How is that sg defining gravity in the beginning? If you know, you're with me.
You are great❤

um... aeolian is natural minor...
@@freezingcathedral I know. It's just that the way he spoke in the video implied to me that he was teaching as if it wasn't.
Love the lines
False fingerings, gotta love em
Mannnnnn love your stuff
So sick!
How come I never think of playing stuff like this?
Rick did you contact me with a surprise package of a fender guitar this morning?
Please can we switch brains?😂

I have no idea what he’s talking about.....but I like it
Really cold links in these shorts
Really cool! 😎
Too much talkin', not enough rockin'!
Dude I’m so so far behind on theory… I’m grabbing info from everywhere the last few years , but a lot of this I watch hoping someday it will all click…
Yeah, “like that!” 😢
Rick, could you do something on Macarthur Park by Richard Harris?
You can try playing extended pentas with unison!! Meaning two pentas that are consecutive, big stretches, by the way that Em add 9 sounds like a E7#9 👍
Sounds like Zappa
First impressions Atmospheric,,
what you think about the guitar intro and solo of "no podrás - cristian castro".
Most of what I've heard you play are Steely Dan ish , I take it that you w
What's this pad FX?
Agreed, very quick, all around
I like his videos, but he might as well be speaking ancient Egyptian
Hey Rick before jumping around could you please explain the hell across the string Unison is? Quick lesson I'm going to say a thing and then I'm not going to explain what it is. Not cool bro
Gorgeous
NEED… TABS…

Rick, how do I send you a question on your UA-cam channel?
It kinda sounds like "Wild Stallions" from Bill and Ted #1.

Very Zappa ish

I love YOU!!!
Whats the name of that pedal? 😮
