- Like many spinners, we've mainly used handcards to turn short-staple fibers into rolags. As it turns out, they can do much more. Kim McKenna walks you through two brilliant methods for using a handcard and diz to predraft braids and batts. As you load fiber onto your handcard and draw it through the diz, you'll see how well it loosens and attenuates the fibers into an airy, easy-to-spin sliver.

Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching!
Would it be possible to use the front half of a blending board? Or would yhe far end of the fiber get tangled in the tines?
You'll want to play around with it some, but you should be able to use a blending board no problem. You might also want to check out our video on how to diz off a blending board, for more ways to use that tool to your advantage: ua-cam.com/video/scad1BSqF-c/v-deo.html. Enjoy and happy dizzing!
What are you using to clamp your carders
She had a special setup for filming, but Kim normally would use a C-clamp or spring clamp to clamp her carders. Let us know if you give it a try and happy spinning!
