  • The OMA AC1 was our first loudspeaker, and is enjoying its 15th anniversary this year. The AC1 is a three way floor standing loudspeaker constructed entirely out of solid Pennsylvania hardwood - 1" thick walnut, cherry, chestnut, tiger maple or ash using the same joinery construction found in the finest furniture. It is completely hand built and hand finished with oil and wax. It uses an extremely efficient 15" woofer, front ported, for bass.
    The midrange utilizes a very special vintage compression driver made by RCA for actual movie theaters, mounted to our conical 300hz horn, crafted from the same hardwoods as the bass enclosure.
    It uses the most high tech, best engineered ribbon tweeter ever made, also horn loaded. It is built to operate continuously without failure as the theater systems of the past. In short, no compromises were made on the design or construction of this loudspeaker, except for its size.
    The AC1 will perform best in medium to large sized rooms, and is highly efficient, at 100db/1w/1m. Even a low powered tube amplifier will find the AC1 an easy load to drive. Standard finishes for stands and hardware: black wrinkle, white, copper plate and nickel plate. Custom finishes also available.

    Anton Corbijn is a fantastic photographer, he had many great photographs of bands published in music papers like NME in the late Seventies and early Eighties. Always admired his work.

    Ahh, the AC1, I have been hoping for a video on this beauty, thank you Jonathan. I really love your philosophy of design for life not a year and only change if something no longer is available.
    This is one of the reasons why I have always loved to tell the time by a vintage rather than new watch. The satisfaction and comfort, I know the latter seems an odd word to use but comfort in the sense of innate “rightness” of design I feel is so important in the lasting sensory enjoyment of it, of wearing something that has and will continue to stand the test of time is a life enriching thing.
    This is the same feeling I get when looking at what you produce and these really exemplify that feeling. The texture of the wood and the depth of tone in colour you have created is gorgeous.
    It actually took me back to my childhood in the seventies in Devon in England. I learned how to make a thick long fibre hand layered paper from pulped willow and Hawthorne stems which gave a similar surface and I used to take that paper, cycle up to Dartmoor and lay a piece on one of the granite outcrops and gently rub charcoal and earth over the paper to see that texture form into a greater depth, yes, I know, an odd child but hey oh, I enjoyed it! Thank you for reawakening a memory Jonathan.

    You are right Jonathan that we live in a consumer society. To give a speaker through to your kids sounds good. Make a speaker this well that you would not feel the urgency to change. There is not a brand I would like to hear on a hifishow. OMA is the first right brand now that I would go to a hifi show too #love4horns

    For AC2 you must use field coil bass driver, Thanks

    • @geraldschrader8511
      @geraldschrader8511 2 роки тому

      What benefits would that bring? You'd need a power supply to energize the coil, right?

    • @babydove
      @babydove 2 роки тому

      @@geraldschrader8511 yes electro magnetic gives full potential power without loss of signals, in the end result is more accurate, once u hear field coil u ll never turn back I get chance to hear classic audio speakers it blow me away since that day I forget so called new design of modern day speakers which is crap mostly and big brands fooling public.

    • @oswaldsmillaudio
      @oswaldsmillaudio  2 роки тому +2

    Ok, they look stunning and promising, but why all talk and no listening at all? We have the chance to listen to almost any other brand on youtube, why cannnot we listen to yours?
    (ok, it's not the same as being there, but we get a good deal of what it sounds like). And how do you integrate the sound of three drivers so "vastly" spread appart and with a visual "promise" for time misalighnment?
