I was just recently able to purchase a six acre property that is mostly a coast live oak and sycamore woodland. Wonderfully clear and useful presentation. THANKS! It has to be gratifying that your video will inform folks for decades or longer.
Thank you Erika. I learned quite a bit and was especially interested to hear about the shallow roots leaking water brought up by the deep roots. Kate Marianchild (author of Secrets of the Oak Woodlands). I hope to watch your other blogs!
Thanks Kate! I am going to go check out your book right now....Check out our book Ecosystems of California, which has chapters about both Oak Woodlands and Range that might be of interest.
Hi Erika. I've been collecting materials that will help me and some colleagues draft an Oak Woodland Protection Ordinance for Mendocino County (recently mandated by our county supervisors). California Wildlife Foundation sent me the Oak Woodlands chapter from Ecosystems of California. I haven't read much of it yet but will soon. I'll make sure to get the book so I can read all of it. If you decide to buy my book I'd love to have you order it from me (starving author and all that). www.katemarianchild.com. I'm also trying to learn about vlogging, which is how I found you. Felicitous!
Your voice is comforting and this video is so valuable. thank you for being so awesome, I hope you one day come back to continue these series

Stumbled upon your video while looking up oak woodlands. Subscribed to your channel! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Keep it up! I love learning about California! You rule!
Thank you, I learned a lot about the place I've lived my whole life!
Outstanding education!
So nicely made! Ole!
I wonder if it would do well If brought one of those oaks here to Florida. What effect would the humidity and rain have on them do you think?
They would probably rot you should try the southern live oak for Florida very rot resistant and grows faster than most California oaks
I used tot honk that a long time ago the Central Valley was a central deciduous forest.
