- 2024 INEOS Grenadier Station Wagon Trialmaster POV start up and off-road driving. The Grenadier features a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter
Caution: traversing boulders in a $70k+ off-roader may cause muscles, skeletal structures, and vocal cords to clench to the torque strength of a garage door spring - not because it can’t do it, but because you don’t want to be the one to break anything. User discretion is advised.
The 2024 INEOS Grenadier Trialmaster is perhaps the most modernly primitive things I’ve ever driven -- tactile and analog galore !! --
and honestly I’ve never appreciated that quality more than I did here. I’ve always felt more attached to things that are left unchanged and basic - most true to their original form. The Grenadier feels like the SUV before SUVs (but it's actually after the SUV, but trying to be like…before the SUV….follow?)
It offers looks inspired by the original Defender (RIP), it steers like the Titanic (didn’t sink though☝️), and handled this entire course with ease.
Speaking of steering like the Titanic, here’s what I mean. The Grenadier utilizes a recirculating ball steering system, which enables more (or less) steering travel than a modern rack-and-pinion system. It's great for maneuvering off-road; on-road it feels harder to maintain center than something like Wrangler or 4Runner, and feels numb when trying to make minor adjustments and disconnected from pavement a bit.
TL;DR - a lot of turning the wheel both directions (about four turns lock to lock). Very unique and different than most would be used to.
Anyway, I appreciate this standing out as much as it does where everything else seems to be blending in 👍.
Shot on GoPro Hero11 featuring binaural (3D) audio. The use of headphones is recommended.

Would have be great if you put the HUD on Offroad Attitude, never really renders on camera if your going up down or flat.
Noted! 📝📝
Good job fighting the steering when the Grenadier kept trying to knock over those Jeep flags.😂

Nice drive. 🙂 Were you aware that you drove the whole course without actually being in 4WD? Centre diff was not locked. Engaging low range does not automatically lock the centre diff as in most other vehicles. Also, did they say what the rear locking diff error was? You can see the warning light flashing the whole drive.
Thank you! I honestly wish I had more time to assess what was going on -- the turnover here was really quick. 1). I had no idea 4WD wasn't engaged LOL. Frankly I was fooled the whole time because it handled all those obstacles with no indication of struggle (at least not compared to the other vehicles driven on this course) 2) I asked about the warning lights and unfortunately was not given any definitive answers -- INEOS product specialists were not on the course, the people that were on course were unfamiliar, and I did not get a chance to catch up with anyone from INEOS after this. Hopefully all ended up fixed 😅. Awesome to experience!
@@carappiehl All goes to show how capable the vehicle really is. 🙂
@@GrenadierMichael yes! And without needing to be the tallest, largest, most tech’d out monstrosity. Simple and mighty effective.
It’s full time 4wd. So this is incorrect.
@@ericking9225 after further review, I don’t know what the correct answer is as far as what’s going on with the Grenadier here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Does have permanent 4WD, yes correct, felt and acted like 4L was engaged? Going to dive further into all the dash lights that are on and understand what was going on…..appreciate the opportunity to learn here!
