The collaboration that downlink was talking about is this band called "Destroid". It consists of excision, downlink, and KJ Sawka. They just announced it about a month ago. Check it out Destroid - Raise Your Fist
He never said it wasn't. And who cares? Sure the comment was in all caps lock, and sure Dubstep has changed alot. But I personally love it that globally (I live in the U.K.) EDM as a whole is far bigger then it ever was before, which is a pretty sick thing. I don't think it's terrible, but that's because you have to think of (they call it nowadays) "liquid" Dubstep as being a completely different genre. Like House to Progressive House.
he definitely is very good looking, downlink is even more good looking, excision is really good looking as well, both downlink and excision have long term relationships with models, only datsik fucked it up with rape
noticed iron and wine on back poster above… love that guy. Creek drank the cradle man😢. What a time of my life when that album came out. Tears of a bottomless void, mixed with limitless heights. 🤦🏼 Anyhow, I can stand tall and admit I liked SOME brostep. I of course am one of those, uk dubstep (medi musik, tempa) guys… which is like a ski vs snowboarder beef, but… the triage remix of boom is soooooooooooooooo good. I did buy some rottun stuff. I thoguht excision Village was amazing, really liked alot of Babylon System and well… spl was INSANE with DnB so, i was able to allow myself to crossover into some brostep’ish tracks. Triage up until a certain point was all good. I really worked on my insecurities tho, the whole “im cooler than you cuz i listen to the REAL sh1t” type thing. To think i love playing musical instruments, but then want to beef with guys playing instruments, albeit a style that’s not “cool” or underground? pretty low vibrational, human evil. Much love bigups datsik and downlink.
@huhjustin chill dude it was just an opinion. I have to agree with amagama though. Rottun is such a dope label and if i was datsik id stay hard on it haha. But im guessing the reason his album will be released on Dim Mak is for the exposure. Same deal as why Excision's 'X Rated' was released on Mau5trap. Im hoping Datsik will write some robo stompers like the old days and release em on Rottun.
To be honest if it wasn't for skrillex i wouldn't have discoverd about other great artist. One day i heard this that really got my attention and i would wonderd what it was. Turns out it was cinema (Skrillex Remix) and i look it up online and there i found out it was supposedly call dubstep. So there i started search for more song similar. There were i found out about Rusko , Excision, Doctor P, Flux Pavilion, Bassnectar, Downlink, xKore, Roksonix Etc.
Hey and Downlink is also from Kelowna (Excision's and Datsik's hometown) right? Just goes to show Canada's raising their bar (Don't forget Zeds Dead :)
@amagama I don't know if you knew this, but Excision recently released his album, and it was under mau5trap, not Rottun, so I don't see how Datsik releasing under another label is any worse. You also need to relax a little, everything is going to be alright.
its true i just found out about it a year ago and it turns out its been around since the 80's or something, correct me if im wrong i have to look into it more. When you say when it became terrible what do you mean? Do you mean the one songs with the crazy wierd noises. What would you call real dubstep? (Artist)
I have been listening to dub for about a year, and I'm American. But I'm not in the least ignorant about it. Real Dub would be Burial, Skream, Kode9, Benga, and Digital Mystikz. Some good songs are Molten by DM, Archangel by Burial and Rutten by Skream. Rusko and Caspa are known for starting Post-Dubstep, which took the genre to a WHOLE new level. You know, heavier wobbles and what-not. Some good Post-Dub artists are Datsik, SKisM, FuntCase, Bar 9, and Eptic if you prefer heavy stuff :)
dub =/= dubstep Dub refers to a style of reggae, which had an influence on dubstep, which is where the name is derived: a combination of dub and 2-step garage.
Yeah because alot of reggae music started that wobble type thing huh. Well dubstep is very diverse but I think the main source was from UK grime music.
If that's what was intended then I'd apologise to the commenter but my point still stands. The whole 'American made dubstep LOLSKRILLEX' shit is frustrating. Hate sounding hipster about stuff but I've been listening to dubstep for overy 6 years now and love every aspect of it. Even the American take on it, despite the fact it's changing the way people to produce to ONLY produce American style dubstep because you can cash in on it.
I meant sucks at what he does not that he sucks in opinion - your opinion doesn't change that he is good at producing... i personally don't listen to him but he is definitely good!
I can see how u might confuse their sound with the North American bass music producers. Honestly though, I spent year in the UK and a lot of the Brits weren't dubstep snobs like u see on youtube.
Datsik, Downlink and Excision all live on the same street, and grew together.. Idk, just a fun fact..
Tanner Cochran is it actually true?
Definitely this interview was made for music producers haha I like it
the canadians are droppin harder tunes than anyone right now...
Still stands true 10 years later
Song: Bassnectar feat. Datsik - YES
To this day i have not finished this interview😂😂😂
I love that song so much, the opener.
The collaboration that downlink was talking about is this band called "Destroid". It consists of excision, downlink, and KJ Sawka. They just announced it about a month ago. Check it out Destroid - Raise Your Fist

Yep! Awesome how he mentioned it in such an old video!
awesome interview
He never said it wasn't. And who cares?

holy shit, this is the first video with datsik actually sober!
dubstep is mainly derived from britain but the first "wobble" type music was from jamaica, till caspa, benga etc came in and took over. :).
love that first track
I'll remember that next time.
Eh there are a bunch of others doing good shit also, will have to showcase them more I guess
@FeelingFeline i fuckin love korn! have been listening since 04!
Datsik great album bro I'm high on vitamin d!!
@Tweakdubs I understand what you are saying, but I'm pretty sure Datsik knows what's good for himself, he's the one making the tunes we all like.
@huhjustin chill dude it was just an opinion. I have to agree with amagama though. Rottun is such a dope label and if i was datsik id stay hard on it haha.
