The first time I traveled internationally was to Italy 20 plus years ago. I was amazed at how much better the public toilets were! The doors didn't have gaps, they were so clean with an attendant, and the door went to the floor. It was awesome insanity! As an American, your observation is spot on.
From Texas, USA I can’t get enough of your videos! Thanks for posting and don’t worry so much about any “planned” content, it’s all good. Just enjoy your travels and take us along, even things that may seem mundane to you, can be a treat for many! Happy Holidays!
Hey Alex and Emma, It was great to spend time with you 2 ! I hope you will find many places as beautiful as Antwerp :-) Well nothing beats Antwerp of course ;-) You are always welcome again as there are still a million things to enjoy! And ehhhh... Enjoy the beers and remember good times! Big Hugs from the silly Dutch guy in Antwerp :-)
when I first started my trip it took about three months to get used to it even to the extent of replacing most of the stuff I packed in my van with things that were actually useful. I finally packed it all in about a year ago after spending 11 (eleven) years on the road. What an incredible experience I had . Good luck to you both. !!!
when you get across the Dutch Border turn left through the Islands and look at the Big Dams and reclamation schemes, all along there is designed for campervans, full of germans in the summer. Stop in Middleburg and if you can try the mussels. Travel over the dams into Hellevoetsluis and go The Vesting, see the historic Dutch Naval base and Harbour. Then to Rotterdam and check out the New Market Hall in Blaak as well as the cube house and the naval museum, Then travel into Dordrecht and the Nationaal Park De Biesbosch for your birdwatching and boating adventure.
I’m with Alex about American toilets, 2inch gaps at each join and the door stops 2ft from the floor, might as well crap in the sink for all the privacy you get 😂
I can hear the French locals sharpening their pitch forks and lighting their torches to hunt down Alan and Susan. Good job you fled the country! Sausage and ball heaven in Belgium! A cone of sausages - so jealous!
Christmas in Marocco? And climb a certain mountain which seems to attract vanlifing youtubers nowadays :) And bring Craig and Amy a new diesel heater as present?
Are you heading towards morroco by any chance to meet up with Craig and Amy (Kinging it) just a thought. Mind you cancel that thought, your heading in the wrong direction. Wherever you're going enjoy and keep up the enthusiasm.
Congratulations! Experience watching tells me you are just around the corner of figuring it out! Remember the reason you picked this goal, in the moment memories are on the way!
If you are still in Belgium, Ypres we found the chocolate was much cheaper than Bruges (and just as good) and the ceremony they have there every night in remembrance of the 2 world wars is unbelievable. What dedication,
Well done you brave pair, I’m a 50s plus single and it’s something I’d like to do but it’s the unknown as to how to finance such a life event that would concern me the most..I’d worry I’d spend everything in the first month or two, head home and have to start the dull “ normal” existence again from scratch as I suspect you have to commit big time to a venture like this, lock stock and both barrels. Being a couple I suspect you check and balance every decision you make but at the same time you know each other so well it comes naturally, no thought just reaction. Hopefully one day I will gain meatballs large enough to enjoy life’s sauce and think nothing of it. Happy travels and safe travels in these uncertain times..will be watching.
Thank you so much for this video. Ghent is wonderful. I did the Brussels -> Ghent -> Brugge vacation about ten years ago and Ghent was the one that stood out. I even thought it would be a nice city to settle in. Please keep up the good work.
Your comments about WCs in the States is spot on & as much as I love the US, there is something that we Brits find very uncomfortable about the " Rest rooms" Keep safe & I look forward to following your adventures.🚐👍
Having lived in England for 4+ years and also having lived in mainland Europe for 4+ years (I am from the US), my unbiased opinion is that the food in the UK is quite poor. I think it's safe to say that if you're from UK you love the food, if you're not, then you don't. Best food from anywhere I have lived (excluding Asia) is Italy by far. Austria and Poland are my 2nd and 3rd choices. With that being said, make your way down to northern Italy and go to Barcis. So amazing up there!
We travelled for three months and it took us a couple of weeks to get used to the idea that we weren't on a normal type of two week holiday. Every day is an adventure when you travel whether it's blissful or a learning curve.
Christmas with Bald and Bankrupt in a former Soviet state perhaps? You could sample Christmassy Soviet mosaics and drink vodka from a Soviet sink. As for recommendations, head down to the Ardenne then onto Luxembourg.
Hi guys. We followed your advice and have just got back from Gent. It was as good as you said it was. Thanks for the pointer and all the best for your upcoming delivery. 👍
Its difficult living full-time in a van at the best of times but its even harder when you have to make these vlogs to pay for it. You both do a cracking job btw. Keep them coming and enjoy Europe! 👍❤
I'm a full time VanLifer in the US, but was born in the UK. My channel is mostly hiking and exploring the US. I really enjoyed this, going to follow your journey, and share with my followers. Let them see this lifestyle from a different perspective. Looking forward to it. 😁
We live in the US and I 100% agree about our public toilets !!! I say this to people all the time. This past august we made our first trip to Europe to visit our kids in Denmark. I Loved the toilets ! I think I have more pictures of them then I do my kids. Lol !!
I'm 64 and a free spirit (when there's no mortgage etc.).. but you two really cheer me up ....Hope you have a Merry Christmas wherever you end up! ✨🎄✨💜💜💜
Here’s a tip for those wides spaces in the poop cubicles…. take a long piece of toilet paper and hang it over the edges of the door where the gaps are. You learn that pretty quickly when you grow up in the US.
Awesome channel! I thought the kitchen knife was really nice. Just ordered one through your link. Hopefully one day soon I can use it in my own van life!
I think its a good idea to spend 1 in every 8 or 10 days in a hotel or something equivalent. the reason I say this is it is energising to occasionally be in a house type thing. laundry and organising and so on. Hot baths, get a good sweat on. and the sort of thing. if you plan hotels effectively, it can be very inexpensive. I hope things work well and you have a nice time, iain w Glasgow
Hmmm... never thought about the idea of needing a purpose in comparing van life to traveling. I think we get so caught up with the freedom of it, that we aren't prepared for that very thing! I can't believe full time van life is here for you guys. I know you will figure it out and it will become the new normal. Can't wait to see what is next!
Gonna order that knife. I know I'll love it. Your handling n showing balance n sharpness sold me. Wish we had a train here in Texas to carry my truck n trailer across the U.S.....BUT WITH A VIEW!!!! THANKS YOU 2 from TEXAS!!!!!
If you even find yourselfs near/above Haarlem in de Netherlands, let me know. You are always welome for a water fill up, hot shower/bath or a lot of food. There's not much to do now though, it's all closed due to this annoying virusthingy. And we're bloody weird too, so don't worry. (our van is bright yellow with purple splashes, just saying).
I am going to guess Kinging it in Morocco? Although travel restrictions may make them impossible. You really need structure even though things are open ended have a plan week to week.

Just started watching you two and my husband and I are really enjoying the videos. Love Belgium! Would love to go there. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Imma blow your mind... those supermarket robots also watch for shoplifters as they're cleaning... That knife would be the subject of a lot of emergency room visits in this house as Tommy and I practice our "gun" twirling skills while cooking....Great video!!!!!

My hubby jokes all the time. Except we don't get out much so his jokes are the same ones I have heard for 16-17 years. Everyone thats hears them loves them. The first few times.
hello cute and lovely beans! I came across your channel few days ago and have been binge watching your videos since! Hope you have fun with your new van! have a great new year! PS: Emma your hair is so beautiful
When we first found them we definitely binge watched 😍 If you have some time, you can check out one of our travel vlogs and let us know what you think. Only if you want to 😝 Happy New Year!
Yes, I subscribed never realized Belgium is a paradise. Such a beautiful country. Am very excited to see more of your chosen places to travel. I am from the other side of the globe.
It is hard to acclimate to sharing a couple's van life. Ya'll seem so socially open minded😎. Maybe you can park, stay in a hostel, to meet more people? Park in university parking lots the day before a sporting event? Or while driving, put up a "traveling beans" on the side/back of the van so we can 'spot' you along the trip? Take it down while your sleeping😴 of course. You might get a caravan of subscribers to party 🎉along the way? The time you document for us is so special, we appreciate letting us get to know you better. 😊Merry Christmas, Beans!🎅🎄🎁
Just enjoy THE NOW!! Life will slow down, even when you plan your next journey, you may see something interesting along the way and want to stop. Just let life guide you, don't rush. Just Breathe and enjoy.❤
Enjoyed your rant but it could have been worse. In 1995 I was in Nashville and decided to get a Greyhound bus to Memphis to visit Graceland. Before getting on the bus I decided to use the restroom and was shocked to see that the cubicles had no doors. In fact looking along to the far end I could see a pair of knees. Hi, we are new to your channel but love watching you. We are a pair of oldies but goodies..74/77 yrs old. We camp in a van...Roadloft , it's a kit that fits into a Grand Caravan, we travell during the summer. As to who you are spending Christmas with either Jits...or the Dutch/ German couple.. cant remember..old age hihi. Loved your video on Bruges and Kent. Wishing you Happy Holidays and happy trails. Congratulations on going full time! A way to get some purpose might be like Kara and Nate did and give a general idea of the country’s you want to travel and let subscribers give you must do activities in their country. They can be challenges, sights, special events. Makes for a varied and interesting travel series. Good luck!
@@TravelBeans Bit slow on the uptake, me! 😆😆😆 But it's late in Australia... that's my excuse. Otherwise it would have been 10mins! I hope you're in some Christmas wonderland right now.
You must have been keen to get to Folkstone to go M23/M25/M20. I would have chosen the far more picturesque A27 / A259 etc for about 20 mins more. Also had the practical option of being able to stop off at a Tesco just in case (a) had forgotten something (b) needed a trip to the loo !! Enjoying your journeys.
I don't know if you're planning to go this far south but if you head to Greece, I'd like to recommend you visit Hanioti, in Halkidiki. It's on the mainland, and is one of my favourite places in the world. 😊
What a wonderful start Beans!! I'm sure it's a big adjustment at first for you both,as you say it just needs time. The most important thing must be to do what YOU want to do,and NOT what you think we want to see,you have built up a huge following now,we are all just happy to share your adventures!! Loved the BEANS OOOOT anthem echoing off the city walls too!! I may have to get with the technology and even get instagram........big step for a fossil like me!!!
Thanks for sharing about the initial angst to tooling around the countryside. GOTTA be a change when you're "in the wind" like that. Merry Christmas and all the best in 2022!🎉🎉
Yes...Charlotte Church & Harry Potter are at it again. Love your videos, I really hope COVID raging doesn't stop it short. Keep up the great work. It's a highlight for some of us with not quite so much courage.
My first vacation on my own in 1985 was to Belgium. Bruge, Gent, Antwerp, Liege, Namur before heading to Paris and Mt. Saint Michel. Back through Calais to Brussels. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Ghent Noses (Cuberdon) in Ghent.. that’s the first thing I think of as a reason to visit, even more so than chocolate. You can eat Belgian Chocolate at home.. It does look so beautiful. Great video. Happy travelling 😀
We loved this. We can totally relate as we are pretty ‘fast’ travellers too and always have a plan! We’re looking forward to seeing your transition to full time vanlife. That last bar you visited (in the crypt) looked totally lush. It reminded me of a church we were lucky enough to visit last week. You’ve totally sold Ghent to us, that ones on the list for when we finally get out of the U.K. Happy Christmas to both of you. 🍻

you are really wonderful people gave me and my partner the idea to make camper van and inspired us thank you guys you should keep up the good work :)
Yes...Charlotte Church & Harry Potter are at it again. Love your videos, I really hope COVID raging doesn't stop it short. Keep up the great work. It's a highlight for some of us with not quite so much courage.
Are you and Alan stalking us? We were in majorca the same beaches you visited and then in Ghent last week! Have a great trip.
You need to chill guy’s, it’s van life and there is no agenda. Stay safe.
My first vacation on my own in 1985 was to Belgium. Bruge, Gent, Antwerp, Liege, Namur before heading to Paris and Mt. Saint Michel. Back through Calais to Brussels. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
As an American we all HATE THE BATHROOM STALLS!
The small coffee is a espresso if you want a big one I do think you need to say you want an americano, that was my experience while in France.
Great video as always…….and my bet is Morocco with Craig and Amy 😊💕
Ghent Noses (Cuberdon) in Ghent.. that’s the first thing I think of as a reason to visit, even more so than chocolate. You can eat Belgian Chocolate at home.. It does look so beautiful. Great video. Happy travelling 😀
Awesome vlog. Enjoy and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Kinging it. You two are adorable.
Stumbled across this channel looking for new van builds...you guys are GREAT! 🙂 New sub and looking forward to following you around
Just discovered you guys! I am so excited to see this journey.
Great video! If you’re coming to Poland let me know and I will show you around Gdańsk.
Hope you both have a great Christmas
You just made me want to go to Belgium. It looks lovely, even with such gloomy weather.
