I am 23 years old and I already have 3 compression fractures on my back. I sadly compressed fractured my T12 similar to the one in the video. Although, mine is a bit more compressed. A neurosurgeon has recommended this procedure for me. The fracture happened in 2016 and I do still feel back pain. My T11 & T12 are so close to touching and my nerves are always spasming. Is this procedure something that will truly helped me in the long run? Has anyone had this surgery and can speak from experience? I am trying to get feedback before I decide to do a surgery on my spine.

Hi, 4/5 years ago is a very long period due to perform this surgery method, are you sure that your neurosurgeon told you about this one exactly? Kyphoplasty should be done very soon on young people unfortunately, because just after one week it becomes not useful and dangerous for vertebral bones those have just started their calcification very soon. Thus, the high risk is that they may crack during little baloon enlargement step before resin will be put inside due to remodel and fix the fracture. Then, if it will be the case, it forces surgeon to remove upper and lower vertebrae's disks and fusing three vertebrae together due to fix the wasted vertebra, provoking coloumn block at that level. Things are different for older people who may get this surgery method later too, because they have not fast natural calcification like us.
I got L1's upper vertebral body compression fracture provoked by a training injury (gymnast) on November 2020, that was not treat by kyphoplasty surgery because nobody told me about this possibility when it was possible yet (no ostheoporosis or other ilnesses at all being a gymnast, so no more than one week due to do it in time).
Thus, I known about this possibility by myself along endeless bed recovery time when I spent hours and hours searching on the Net any information about what happen to me exactly and what Medicine may offer due to gain my previous condition again, but it was too late when I become aware of the only real concrete whole solution.
I know that I can complete calcify my L1 by myslef along time, but I will should deal with its kypohosis developed because it cannot remodel vertebral body by itself too, that is the reason why kyphoplasty could solve this situation only if was performed as soon as possibile.
I am aware that I will be able to compensate it with my strong back muscles and abs, but trouble will start if I shall stop training in future amd just assumed that vertebrae will not be too close by theirselves as for your case is. Thus, I deem that my L1's upper posterior verterbral body may be too close than T12's lower posterior one, so provoking contrast by them, as you told for you case about I am very sorry. Moreover, I do not feel my lower external left leg as before the injury, added to some arms/hand random feeling (I got hurted between C6-C7, even if L1's vertebral body broken "only", so I may developed some cervical compressions too). I am still using orthopedic corset, so it is soon due to evaluate my real condition nowadays.
How many bed rest time did you take? For how many time did you use otrhopedic corset?
I wish to you all the best and I hope we may tell us about a surgery procedure that will reshape your T12 and my L1 vertebral bodis as it were even they are just calcified nowadays.
Please, reply this message if it shall be the case and/or contact me at Instagram profile (same nickname).
      Thank you from Italy.

uknowimright6269 I have a l1 compression fracture from a fall a month and half ago, I was scared to get the procedure but had kind of decided to go ahead and now my insurance won’t approve the mri I need. My fracture is caved in from the top of the vertebrae, have been told this can put too much density so that the vertrabrae above and below can be compromised and also told that with my kind of fracture I should go ahead because the height needs to be built back up. But also told it can heal on its own. I have not decided what to do. I was diagnosed with l4l5 s1 bulging discs last spring and I’m afraid a lot of my pain may be coming from That yet I have had a lot of new pain from this and have also fractured my tailbone. I just want to do what’s right for my pain level going forward, I’ll be 32 in June.have you done the procedure yet, what are your thoughts on it and any info you’ve been given along the way?

krystle dawn ...please get to Texas Back Institute as soon as you can. I saw both Dr. Staub and Dr. Lieberman. The second did the surgery. I'd been denied MRI twice but the office staff took control and in less than 20 mins not only got approval but also an appointment the same evening for MRI.

@@uknowimright6269 I am very pleased for your success using this technique. If kristke Dawn was refused insurance coverage for the procedure-I wonder how much it would cost to pay privately out of pocket. Does anyone have a rough, general idea of the cost? This could bring a lot of relief to many people who are suffering. My nerves are being utterly mangled in my L1, 2, 3 and maybe 4. It’s affecting my digestion and I am not walking properly etc.
Please ask God to help me - as well as others who have compressed vertebrae. Mines from osteoporosis. I am 61. Lack of hormones are playing a role too.

@@janetskene3413 I suggest calling TBI in Plano, Texas. I cannot give enough praise to the doctor and entire staff.
It's been over 3 years and NO PROBLEMS at all.
I had a crushed vertebrae with protruding to nerve.
The young ladies in the office spoke with my insurance company and got an approval for MRI.
I fought with insurance for two long painful months on my own.

Sorry to hear that, but this procedure is for compression fracture of vertebral bodies, but as you said you have spinal cord injury it might not be of use. Consult a good neurosurgeon and focus on rehabilitation, the extent of recovery depends on the severity and level of injury. Hope you recover well.
