Monte Williams - Down by the Riverside

I’ve been recently going through old recordings and archives, and I found a file I thought I had lost/erased long ago. The late great Monte Williams had asked me to record what initially was do be his rock opera, but stalled and fell by the wayside two songs in.
I had wanted to share this at his memorial a decade back and was sad that I couldn’t find it at the time. I remixed the original raw tracks in this mix. We were just working out the parts, so no click track was used (hence the crummy timing on drums). Production and drums by Mi Masef Anai (formerly of the band If You See Kay). All other instrumentation and vocals by Monte including the heavily processed bass vocal. Buried deep in the mix after count #2, there is a tiny cameo by my now 24-year-old daughter who was just learning to talk at the time (to gauge how old this recording is). Trying to figure out who this guy was that kept coming to our house, she dubbed him “Aunt Monte.” I believe this was the summer of 1997.
