even as a uconn fan and with fudd and ducharme out on injuries, i’d still have to say, this Texas team looked unstoppable. the competition in the women’s ncaa is really starting to get better and better, which makes the league more and more interesting. i just hope this trend carries over to the pro’s.

Presumably, you're a loyal fan of South Carolina, which I appreciate as a fellow fan of NCAAW. And I, as a fan of UConn Women's BB for three decades, think Dawn has been doing a better job in recruiting, training, and in-court-coaching than Geno. However, to declare "this is a Dawn Staley era, just like we had a Pat Summit, Muffin, Geno, Kim" is too much of an assertion at this point. It sounds more like your subjective feeling than objective analysis. Pat won the championship eight times, and Geno eleven times, and weirdly, you didn't count Tara VanDerveer, who won it three times, while Muffin, Kim, and Dawn won only two times as of now. A dynasty is not built with just a couple of championship. You've got to earn it for a substantial period of time. When South Carolina achieves it, I'll heartily congratulate it. But until then, it is wise of you to suspend a judgment.

@@LucaJDLee Not really, dude. The basic thesis is correct. SC has had the most dominant program in the game over the past 6 or 7 years compared to ANYBODY...the numbers don't lie. SC's problem is twofold - they've only converted that dominance into 2 finals appearances and 2 titles - last year's lost to an inferior Iowa team speaks to their inefficiency in closing the deal during this marginally dominant period. Their second problem is that being the "most dominant" team today is a whole different story compared to yesteryear's dominance of Tennessee and UCONN - era's that most likely won't be repeated. 25 years of the WNBA has driven a massive and widespread production of new talent that now finds itself at multiple schools. Tenn and UCONN no longer have a monopoly of the top talent and the pool is so much deeper, top talent now plays in programs coast to coast. New transfer portal and NIL recruitment factors also add new complicated layers to this era of the game.
The thesis that this is SC's current era is essentially correct; it is not a "dynasty" nor is it akin to the winning that Tenn, UCONN, and a few other schools have accomplished. SC has to win a lot more to belong in those groups, but they are the current performance beacon in the game. Unless they convert that into more championships, it will end up being a moot historical note.

Azzi would not have helped.... Azzi just cannot rebound, play solid defense or make steals. Azzi shot well if she got open but that is it. Paige Beukers can't score or play the defense that UCONN needs due to her multiple injuries that has held Paige from being Paige.
Paige has not grown and acquired the skills to play like Paige did as a freshman. Prior to injuries Paige could have got the experience and developed the skills, but to many injuries on UCONN team.
UCONN Reign is OVER !!!! I bet they wind up with 20 wins this year .... MAYBE.

I’m a UConn fan and grad. I think this year’s annual round of bad injuries has officially broken the program. Not only is UConn’s season over, but the dynasty, program and careers of Geno and Daily are. They sound defeated this year. Wouldn’t be shocked if both Geno and Daily retire at end of year.
UConn has ballers coming in next year, and these freshmen will be better, too.

Wow! It is amazing to see a different Texas Longhorns they are still undefeated I hope they can sustain that momentum. But what is clear is that the Texas Longhorn is now more strong and cohesive with the new players continuing to be consistent like Muhammad, Booker, and the sophomores Mnentanda, Holle with the comeback of Moore, and Jones is in the defensive under the rim they are now strong, and more balanced team. Booker is not only tall and a shooter she is also quick plus Shaley Gonzales and of course the pesky and quick reliable point guard Harmon, there is no doubt Texas is heading for a big sweet sixteen again, and hoping to go till best of four in the NCAA tournament. Congratulations guys!

200/43=4.65+ X 20 = 93.02 points which is the scoring level if all five players scored at the rate of 20 points every 43 player minutes.
Another way is 43/200=0.215 (21.5% of player minutes) then 20/0.215=93.02 points.

Congrats, Texas looks good. On the other hand, this year’s UConn team is possibly one of the worst Husky squads I’ve ever seen. The standards in Storrs are high, and I know Texas is ranked and all, but UConn right now just looks like a shell of itself

Because Geno is stuck in the past in his old ways of how to "raise" freshmen. His old methods may eventually prove right, or they are going to lead to ineffective performance and personnel frustration. Only time will tell.
Hate to say it but Geno's style of coaching isn't working anymore..and it's showing at expense of the 2023-24 season..

I'm a huge Huskies fan but I got to say that our program is over!!!! Terrible recruiting in this past years,what about looking for the injuries this, ladies had in the past(highschool basketball),why getting people that had a past full of injuries??? I don't care how good you are if you can stand on the court all year round, and what about getting a real center ,a 6:5 or taller that can really play basketball not this jokes of centers we are getting... UConn is done just like Tennessee..

Edwards is OK...she will play in the pros. UCONN's problem is personnel recruitment....size, yes, but also the "quality" of the other recruits. He's gotten plenty of Top 10, Top 20 personnel over the past few years, but he's gotten fooled by their overrating...many of them in actual games perform below their lofty rankings. Geno is also notoriously deliberate with freshmen and some of them may have gotten shaken by his approach and the high-pressure environment and tradition.
