I was a local pub near Castlewood when I heard a bunch of complaining about electrical problems and whatnot. Saw some guy with long hair, looking like he's ready for a big concert and then I recognize he's the janitor at my high school. I'm also brother to one of your closest friends, he said, but you never seem to recognize me unless I'm wearing the janitor uniform. Nevermind about that, I said, you gonna play some Black Sabbath or what? Lemmy said he would if he could but he didn't forget to bring his wah pedal. Those were not his exact words but that's the way it hit my ears. You know how dive bars are the best. This particular pub, located in Castlewood, Missouri was quite a unique place back in the day. And the view from the Bluffs is breathtaking. (Don't ask me about the night we tried to coax one of the roadies to drive all the way to the top of the bluffs in his blue sixty whatever VW bug. but I'll never forget that night. I remember thinking to myself, why am I being such an asshole. I wouldn't drive up that steep ass and narrow trail if you dared me all night long. Then he took off and couldn't believe he was going for hit. I shut my mouth, held on tight and sat in the back seat wondering if I could jump out if things got bad. But VW's back in the day didn't come in four door models. I wanted to jump out, I'd have to ask the driver to stop, open the door, pull the driver seat forward, then, and only then. Mind you, all of these thoughts are flashing through by brain very fast. I didn't have to time to explain that I was only joking the fourth time I dared him to go for it. It's not my fault he's bad at counting. We almost made it to the top before we got stuck in some mud. We got out and surveyed the predicamint we had gotten ourselves into. I apologized for eggin him on. He said, no apology necessary. It was I who listened to an idiot like you. but I was the idiot who egged you on. It became obvious that it was the car's fault. We argued about that for about forever because I know cars. Then, suddenly a group of hikers walked up and they seemed to be in a state of disbelief. They were on their way back from the cave. They were kind of in shock. How'd you get that car up here, one guy asked. We drove it up. I ain't never seen a car up here in all the time I've been walking up the bluffs to that secret hideout cave. We never seen a car up here either. There was a moment of slightly awkward silence. How you gonna get it back down, someone asked. I guess we could try driving it down if we could get it unstuck. It's stuck??? We thought you guys just drove up here casually and parked like you didn't just climb the steepest cliff in Castlewood. We got stuck, I said. It was my fault. They helped us get the VW out of the mud and we drove, VERY CAREFULLY down that steep ass trail not intended for anything but foot traffic. Fast forward to the present. One of my son's close friends lives in the house closest to the bluffs where this insanity took place back in 1978 or nine or 77 but who fucking knows.
Such glorious and wonderful noise! Motörhead was not music, it was an experience not to be missed. To stand in a crowd of sweaty flesh against flesh just acting like a crazed fool....seeing them live is unforgettable
It has that classic Lemmy style bass intro riff, used on quite a few songs. It actually sounds much closer to Stone Dead Forever than Ace Of Spades and Overkill in my opinion.
