I realized that I hadn't checked in on you in a while. Congratulations! You are both improving so much from the first videos I watched over a year ago. Great progress. Your position is softer, more balanced and your hands and legs are working more independently. You are better able to help Happy with his issues. He has gotten stronger in the back end with more engagement and is using his hocks so much better at the canter. I admire you for working with such a challenging project. He is such a good boy and you two are becoming a team! (I am retired now and ride just for my enjoyment but have trained and taught in the past- I never took on a Standie though!) I will check back again. P. S. I think this instructor is doing a great job!
Thank you so much for your comment!! I have been really working hard on my own strength and flexibility. It has helped a lot with my body awareness in the saddle and helped me to learn where I’m tensing. Happy was done amazing with our new instructor. She knows just what to do to help him and she loves him. She doesn’t make me feel like he’s lesser than because he’s gaited, in fact she thinks he’s amazing BECAUSE he’s gaited and can jump and do all the things. Our bit change, focus on forward, leaving my spurs behind, working on my connection with my hands, all of it has been so much better for Happy. He seems so much happier in the work and confident now. I’m so glad you noticed and left a comment. It made my day
I just wanted to say thank you so much for these videos, I was told not to buy a standarbred as they don't canter or trot properly. But I watched your videos and I bought Danny aka twist and shout registered standbredbred and its the best thing I have ever done. So thank you again. Xx
Comments like this are why I started this channel. I never knew how amazing the stabdsrdbred breed was until I got Happy. Even if I couldn’t do the things I do with him I’d still choose him again because he is just the best horse I’ve ever been around. They are such amazing horses and so caring for their owner. I’m glad you have one of your own so you can experience this great breed!! Also his racing/show name is adorable!! I love it!
