Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- Most of us are familiar with various ways of praying, some of these methods taught to us from our youth. These types of prayer are not only for beginners but continue to be helpful aids as we grow in our relationship with God. In this episode, we will look more closely at four different methods, or modes, of prayer which are highly revered in the Carmelite tradition: vocal prayer, liturgical prayer, meditative reading, and discursive meditation.

This was very informative, Brothers, thank you! I've been reading a little meditation book called The Our Father in Gethsemane for Lent and it has really brought me closer to that prayer so it was encouraging to hear how much St. Teresa and John of the Cross loved that prayer as well.
Thank you for your feedback! If you finish Fr. Donnelly's book, consider reading St. Teresa's commentary on the Our Father found in chapters 27-42 of the Way of Perfection. Be sure to subscribe to our channel and check back next week for our next episode!
Will do, Brothers. Thank you! @@ICSPublications
I really enjoy your presentation and all the work that goes into it. It’s a great help going over what the Saints taught to help us understand and try to live a life more conformed to God’s will.

Thank you brothers🙏🏽
I’m glad y’all clarified that vocal prayer and mental prayer aren’t necessarily opposites. I’ve always thought of vocal prayer as being ‘lower’ than mental prayer. The way you explained it was helpful.
I don’t completely understand the difference between meditative reading and discursive prayer/ meditation. So many words lol. It sounds like both can be mental prayer. Maybe episode three will clear things up.
@@TracyW-me8brfrom what I'm gathering from their descriptions discursive meditation is more on formal theological teachings, and meditative reading would be on the word of God or other spiritual reading that's more personal. Because they talked about the catechism and their theology classes in discursive meditation. So like analytical meditation on Thomas Aquinas's writings. That's what I'm getting from it
Thank you for making these podcasts! They are great. I’ve been following your talks on The Way of Perfection.
God is REALLY using the readings to expand and refine my spirituality. Ouch praise God!

May I ask a question about the rosary here?
I'm happy to hear your precious conversation. I will also be a person who prays hard. Bless you in the name of Lord. It's posted in Korea.
