Gustavsson had a save in OT with the shaft of his stick too. Both goalies and defenses were putting on a show last night. 52 saves from a goalie that has never played in the playoffs.
Sam Steel's breakaway goal to tie it up in his first playoff game should be an honorable mention too.
There were like 10 goalie hat picks from that game alone this week lol

Pretty cool seeing Faber already in a hat pick video with just 3 NHL games under his belt. Hopefully we’ll see many more hat picks from him for years to come. Wow, what a double overtime!!

@MEDIA ODD oilers already had a game in the playoffs....maybe because of that.
Also, Steve rarely gives hat-picks to oilers except for McDavid when there often is more nice things than McDavid ;)

To be fair, no one saw gustavsson being this good. He was supposed to be fleury's back up this season then let his contract expire and wallstedt come up next year. That was the plan at least.

Dude Alex Lyon had a fantastic game. As a Bruins fan it made me nervous how razor-sharp he was all night. Can’t wait for Game 2!
I’m a panthers fan but I think this series might be more interesting then people are giving it credit. Panthers didn’t play horrible last night just not able to score. I think if they can figure it out they might be able to make it last. Maybe not win but it could last. Lyon locked it down last night other then that one soft goal but he got 99 percent of it it just slipped under his glove. Either way ggs

Lyon was doing all he can minus the two bloopers of Marchand goal and the third goal of the game where the puck was sitting on his pad. I hope they start him again tomorrow. It's his crease right now

Edit: for reference, Mikko scored his 50th goal, a hat trick, tied the team record in goals, did it on the 96th day of the year (his number is 96), exactly 20 years to the day since hte last avs player scored 50 goals.

The first time I saw that Lindgren clip, from the original angle it looks like he takes the puck to the face and just kinda pratfalls, I was amazed when they showed it was a deliberate diving save from the other angle

I was at the last regular season Isles game, and I can confirm the sound you hear on the Suzuki goal is, “WHAT!?!” Also because we’re not used to Ilya looking late. Thankfully the rest was a lot more fun.

Honestly that Suzuki goal as good as it was is also a dang-it that the ref did not call a holding the stick on Suzuki.

As much as I am a Dallas Stars fan, the Youngster's defense on that OT play is worthy of getting the W!
The best part of that glove-less save is how he just dumps his teammate off his back to get back in the net and make that save
He channeled his inner Patrick Hornquist (who was also a 210th overall pick back when there were only 30 teams in the league, thus making him the last player taken in that entry draft).
Great pass by Arvidsson but that's one the goaltender has to stop. I don't care if you've played goal for 5 games or 2500. You can't let shots like that get past you and in the open for rebounds.

To anybody complaining that your favorite play or stat or milestone or whatever from the previous week didn't make it in the video, ask yourself whether you alerted Steve and/or Nick about the goal/save/epic chirp you want to see featured. If you didn't, don't complain that it was missed.
So, Hellebuyck's stunners at 18:34 and 18:49 of the 3rd (of that game against the wild) are chopped liver!?!
The fact that Hellebuyck didn't get three Hat-Picks is a HUGE Dang-IT!!

As a beer leaguer goalie. I actually had a similar play early this season. I think it’s more when we are in the heat of the moment. We don’t think. It’s just reacting to the situation and no situation is ever the same. Or maybe the fact we get hit by pucks for fun…
