    Thank you so much for tuning in today! I wanted to mention that this video covers the Suqqu brushes sold at Harrods which are made of squirrel hair. The brushes sold at Selfridges are made of goat hair.

      Thank you for that info. I bought a Suqqu cheek brush from Selfridges 7+ years ago and I love it. Like you, I saw it on Lisa Eldridge’s videos. You may like the goat hair cheek brush better than the squirrel hair.
      The eyebrow brushes look like they would be good for spot concealer.

    I have a SUQQU face brush picked up in Japan about 6 years ago and it's got the classic rounded shape, not flat like yours. I use the Brow brush G to drag out my cream or pencil liner into a soft wing. Also when buying brushes in the Hakuhodo showroom in Tokyo the sales girl demonstrated that I should swipe with the side of squirrel hair cheek brushes in one direction and never buff. She said buffing would damage the brush eventually. Having super fair skin and finding most blushes too pigmented, I love the SUQQU cheek brush for its' ability to lay down a subtle blush.

      I have dark skin (Cover FX Powerplay G110) and so almost All of my blushes are highly pigmented...But I also have a heavy hand so more times than not I apply too much and end up with clown cheeks that I have to buff to oblivion lolololol So I bought the Chiku Z4 and LOVE it but would love to get the Suqqu cheek still as I'd rather have to build up my blush instead of having to buff the living daylights out of it lololol Suqqu cheek and Face (even though I have oily skin) will be mine eventually!

    I have 4 of each of the main face & eye SUQQU brushes. I’ve had mine for over 3 years. They hold up really well and are my absolute favorites. I do buff with my SUQQU cheek brushes and it works wonderfully... they haven’t been damaged from it.

    Hi Michele, The suqqu L and the S are my favorites. I have 2 Ls and the most recent one that I got is stunning, it fluffs out like magic, it's litteraly a masterpiece, honestly one of my top 5 in my entire collection. The brow brushes that Suqqu has specially the bigger one (I don't think it was in this set) is perfect for my large brows to fill them with powder, so I could not live without it (shall I chose to apply anything on my brows...). You should try to get an S, it's a bit smaller than the M but very special and sought for, also very difficult to replicate because that quality of bristles cannot be found anywhere else. Suqqu brushes are stunning but for daily use I prefer goat and more resilient brushes :) I am like you for the blush, similar technique so I could not only have a suqqu cheek although I am glad it allows me to work with the most pigmented products that I have! I loved this review, thank you!!!

    Suqqu Squirrel are the only brushes I can use on my eyes due to hyper sensitivity. It feels like needles/sandpaper across my eyelids with others. Until I discovered these, I would apply eye makeup with my fingers to eyelids or with cotton puffs; crazy. I have also found that some of their brushes are TOO soft for applying powder products. Due to their cost, I will only buy them when I can test them in store. I have a few very loved eye shadow brushes for that reason. Wish they were sold in the US. Great review!

    I went on a hunt for Suqqu brushes about a couple of months ago and saw that set at Harrod’s. I ended up picking up separate brushes, including the powder, cheek, and 2 of each of the main 3 eye brushes (L, M, and F), instead of the set because I didn’t need lip or line brushes. Love the ones I got! Very pricey but so good and they are designed to last about forever, which made the swallowing of the price tag a bit easier.

    Suqqu eyeliner D brush probably is the most wanted brush for me, it’s so good for dark shades applied to my small eyes. I brought some similar cheaper brushes but really want to have it one day. Want F too, because this shape is so often used. Then cheek brush, again I had a similar shape, because I have dark spots on my cheek it enhanced all blush for my fair skin, so I need very light hand application. Want them all🤗💕💕💕

    Just woke up to this. So excited Michele! I asked in a former video comment what brushes you would suggest for a "beginner" brush afficionado. I don't really wear much makeup, and when I do it is really just eye makeup. How many lid brushes, crease brushes, blender brushes should one own? And, of all the styles, makes and models, which one would you suggest as a basic, all around set? And, what is the best cleaner for good brushes? Comments from all would be most welcome. Thanks!!

    • @catarina624
      @catarina624 5 років тому +1

      I would say If you only wear eye makeup you should own a packing or lid color brush (like the mac 239) a small,medium and large fluffy/blending/crease brush,a liner brush and and maybe a pencil brush or small lid color brush.I cleanse my brushes with babyshampoo and water or a cleansing oil for deep cleaning but the beauty blender brush cleanser is known to be very good.

      Michele has a favorite brushes video that you should look for. It is super helpful! She did it sometime in 2018. It's hard to answer your question because it depends on your price point. Of course Wayne Goss and Sonia G make amazing brushes but if you're on a budget, I find there are some cheaper brushes that definitely get the job done

      To clean my brushes, I either use the African black Shea soap that I got from Amazon, or else the clean Apothecary soap I got on beautylish. Baby shampoo is also good as well as the beauty blender solid cleanser

      Thanks again Iris! I have been using MAC and IT Cosmetic cleansers but I use a lot and it is expensive. Plus I think they leave a film on the bristles. I just tried Dr. Brommer's cleanser and it left the brushes hard as rocks....

      I'm not sure if you still need suggestions but goat hair eye brushes from Hakuhodo would make an excellent beginner set. Packing/Laydown brushes: J242, J/B004 Paddle shape blender: J5523 (I have multiples of this one) Blending (and some crease work depending on size of your eyes): J5522, J5533 Crease brushes from smallest to largest: J5529, J146, J142, J5522 Pencil brush: G5514, B5520 (squirrel/horse)

    As usual you’ve made a very informative brush video. I have, and love, the new Sonia G Face Pro set and the Chikuhodo Beautylish Holiday with the blue handles. They have all really amped up my application game. But for blush, believe it or not, I use the IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe French Boutique Brush. It’s synthetic. I saw Lisa Eldridge use it and realized that I had it already and had never tried it. It provides a very diffuse application every time with no effort. I’m so glad that you reviewed these Suqqu brushes! I was pea green with envy when you bought them at Harrods. Now I am convinced that I can live happily without them. So thanks for the review! 💚

      Iris, you and I follow a lot of the same people and I always look for your comments and enjoy reading what you have to say. Thank you! I use the same brands you do. I use Wayne Goss the most because they are a bit bendier than the Sonia G. For me, I do better with a bendier brush especially with face products. I get a smoother more even application. I'd rather build up than have a "yikes" moment. I'm sure that is due to my totally amateurish methods. I did get the Beautylish x Chikuhodo Year of the Pig brush but so far I'm just looking at it and not using it. It is too pretty! I have a few Hakuhodo eye brushes that I enjoy. I love brushes.

      @@brendaf1033 i don't own many hakuhodo brushes but the one that Michele always talks about is terrific. The j133 or something like that. When I first started watching UA-cam, I followed the bigger people like Jaclyn Hill and tati. But as I have refined my watching habits, I've found that I relate more to the smaller and more mature UA-camrs. They also have a better viewing audience so I try to read the comments of a few of them, and I always read Michele's. I enjoy your comments as well 😊

    Fude Kyun has the same complaint about the Suqqu Cheek Brush. For me, it is a good example for the fact that a brush can actually be TOO soft if the bristles aren't laid and shaped in the optimal way. (I own the eye brushes btw)

    Thank you, your brush videos are always very informative! I've been considering the suqqu cheek (all together now, because of Lisa Eldridge) but I think it may be a little too small now. I have the chikuhodo cheek and a kyureido fine kalla cheek, which seem to be very similar. It looks like the gap in my collection is the powder brush size, so now it's between the chikuhodo z1/z9/mk2 and the suqqu powder.

    I purchased my squirrel Suqqu brushes from Selfridges years ago when they still sold them online. I have all of them except the large face brush after watching Lisa Eldridge singing their praises. They are so luxurious and softer than my Chikuhodo and Hakuhodo squirrel brushes (and more delicate?). Since they’ve become even harder to purchase from the US, I’ve become almost too scared to use them....silly, I know...why have nice brushes if you don’t use them? Great video!! I’m gonna bust out my Suqqus and use them now! ❤️😁😄😃. I totally agree with you on the cheek brush. I still think it’s a beautiful brush...just a little too delicate? I have 3 of the WG airbrush brushes...they definitely shedded a little for me where the Suqqu never did. I got the Chikuhodo cheek and highlight brushes after the Suqqu...sensitive/dry skin people would definitely like the Suqqu more. I remember thinking “I thought Chikuhodo squirrel brushes are supposed to be super soft??!” Lolll. I use the large eye brush to set my eye concealer.

      MonicaSpeaksNow Would you recommend these Suqqu brushes for dryer skin? I notice that especially in winter my foundation clings to my skin differently when using a brush. I use a beautyblender more often now, but still prefer brushes

    • @monicaspeaksnow
      @monicaspeaksnow 5 років тому

      Beauty by Anne-Chris Definitely! I feel like they’d be wasted on oilier skin types because of the super delicate hairs. You have to be careful with them as the hairs get a little clumpy if they accidentally touch any creamy/liquidy products. I think your skin would love them. Sometimes I just gently swipe them on my (clean/dry) face just to feel the softness. 🤪

    Hi . I love my my suqqu L brush especially because I don’t usually powder my face ( love the glow) but sometimes if I want to just set my nose or T zone it’s perfect. Which do you find out of all of your powders to be the least matte, lightest and still lets some glow come through. I’d love to buy that suqqu large powder brush.!! Thanks!!

    Suqqu brushes made me fall in love with makeup brushes and in particular squirrel hair brushes. I found out about them from Lisa Eldridge because I wanted soft brushes that doesn’t poke my eyes. And watching her video was just in time when I was going to Japan for a vacation. And since then, I got interested with fude and so I found Sonia’s website and found more fude brands. On my 3rd trip to Japan, we went to Kumano fude museum and found out the manufacturers of Suqqu brushes.

      @kwowzer762 5 років тому

      If the goats are tamed they will not mind being brushed as long as it doesn’t hurt them. I grew up on a farm and we had goats, the tamer ones loved to be petted and their hair brushed. It just saddens me that all the other animals have to be killed for makeup brushes 😔

    • @catnip4587
      @catnip4587 5 років тому

      I guess I am a hypocrite because I wear leather and occasionally eat meat. However killing a squirrel to make a makeup brush seems wrong to me 😿

    • @kwowzer762
      @kwowzer762 5 років тому

      Catnip 4 you are not a hypocrite. I try to buy cruelty free makeup if I can. I just don’t think real animal hair brushes are worth an animal dying for. I eat meat as well. There are just some instances where we can not get away with buying a product that is always cruelty free like prescription medications household cleaners etc. None of us are perfect. I just try to be conscientious about buying cruelty free especially when it comes to things like makeup.

    Hi Michele, thank you so much for the fantastic review. I love brushes and these videos make my day 😊. I only have the suqqu blush brush that I bought in London some years ago and I was a little disappointed, is very soft but as you said, too much, I don’t use it a lot, I think is overrated, even for very pigmented blushes like the Tom Ford ones I much prefer the WG 14. For blush I also love the Chikuhodo Z8 and for loose powder my favorite is the Z1. I own several Chikuhodo, ( by the way, I read a while ago they manufacture Suqqu brushes) Hakuhodo ( also read they manufacture Tom Ford, at least the old natural hair ones) Sonia G, Tom Ford and Wayne Goss brushes and love all of them but is true that some perform better than others and is also a very personal thing. I always wanted to buy the Suqqu M for eyes and now I am definitely going to do it. Many thanks! 😘😘

I've been keeping my🤞 that her face pro brushes will be sold individually, as I only want 3 of the 5. I am, however, interested in the Suquu face brush & large shadow brush...rut-roh ;)

The SUQQU blush brush might be better for applying highlighter, especially if you want to use a light hand. I do have to test the natural hair brushes though because I have a lot of allergies. Matte eyeshadows work great to fill in brows.

    Blue squirrel shadow brushes seem to make the eye shadows blend themselves on the lid! I have Sonia G's crease one, and it's such a great all around brush if I want a very diffused and well blended look.
    The Suqqu eyeliner brush has an interesting shape! Do you know what kind of hair it uses? I've been looking into finding more good quality squirrel brushes, so thanks for the review!
    Have you tried any RMK brushes? They have very short handled brushes of which the squirrel hair cheek brush is my everyday favorite!

    Ahh, very satisfying review, thank you! According to the Harrods Suqqu SA, the spoolie isn't sold individually, so it's a sort of exclusive with the set. I haven't actually verified this, mind! BTW the Suqqu brow gel that I thought might be a dupe / similar to the TF Fiber Brow Gel, isn't really. It's a bit darker and more intense than TF.

    This was such a great video! Very informative, thank you☺️❤️ I am super interested in the suqqu brushes, but the prices...especially for the face brush (understandable though since it is squirrel hair). But currently I am saving up for Sonia G brushes☺️ I was wondering if you have a recommendation for an eyeliner brush? Since you said that this wasn't super special. Also, I have heard wonderful things about the suqqu brow pen. It looks really interesting.☺️ I will definitely at some point pick up the large eyeshadow brush though, it looks wonderful!❤️

    I am sorry but I bought the suqqu cheek brush from selfridges and I am very dissapointed, it's not at all soft, maybe the brushes they sell in Europe are not the same as the ones sold in Japan....I watched Lisa Eldrige a long time and decided to buy one but frankly I have tarte brushes that are softer not to say that Wayne Goss brushes kick it out of the park when it comes to softness

    So I bought a fake suqqu cheek brush just for shits and giggle tell me why it’s softer than my Wayne goss air brush?? It feels identical to squirrel hair I have the Wayne goss air rush and the #2
    I know it’s fake because I bought it for $16 but what does it feel so real??! Is it new synthetic hair technology??

    Love brushes 😍 such a shame these were limited edition. Do you know if the individuals from harrods are still squirrel hair as opposed to the Selfridges ones being goat as per your comment? Thanks x

    This is such a useful video! I bought my Suqqu blush brush and brush L at Selfridge's in person 3 years ago and they are both definitely squirrel hair. Has Selfridge's changed the offering to goat?

    • @stellazppearson
      @stellazppearson 5 років тому +1

      hi, yes. Harrods now stock the blue squirrel and the selfridges brushes are similar in shape but are goat hair. Selfridges used to sell blue squirrel but I think at the end of 2018 they moved to the goat hair, Harrods (and maybe Fenwicks) stock the squirrel. Stella

    Thank you very much for your review. I heard that Suqqu had changed their Cheek brush. I noticed the shape is different from the previous one. The old one was more round, domed. The new one is more flat, not domed and looks like a petal. I saw it in Tokyo in their corner and I did not like it and did not buy it.

  • @sharoi33
    @sharoi33 5 років тому

    i bought the blush brush in London. I paid a fortune for it:( It sheds a lot... it is soft and blends the color nicely but some drugstore brushes are better. Save your money, one day you'll need it for something more important

    Thanks for a super helpful video! I am on the hunt for a squirrel cheek brush. You convinced me that I don't want the Suqqu. I am between the Surratt and the Chikuhodo. Is the Chikuhodo you showed for cheeks the Z8? For blush, I would prefer a more round ferrule. Which of these two is more rounded and in your opinion, more suited to a swirling application?

    • @j4lyphe1
      @j4lyphe1 5 років тому

      I think if you want to swirl then maybe a more rounded pompom shape blush brush would be good for you....And for that I would recommend the Chikuhodo R-C2 which is made of squirrel hair as well or the Chikuhodo GSN-04 which is slightly bigger but also squirrel hair.

    I'm always impressed by the suqqu cheek brush when I watch Lisa Eldridge, it seems so delicate on the skin. I would love to find a more affordeable blush brush similar to this. Can You suggest something? :) i hate brushes that move the foundation or irritate my skin. I saw that You liked the real techniques b02 but I dont know how soft it is. Is it a dupe for the suqqu one?

    Do you have any idea how the bobbi brown blush brush compares to these ? Or the face brush? I am asking because I own these two and have them for ages, and find them incredibly great. I need to buy some new brushes and am tempted to buy different brands . So are the bobbi brown similar ? or how do they differ? Asking in terms of "heavy versus soft application" and softness?

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  5 років тому

      As I understand it, Bobbi Brown changed their brushes from natural hair to synthetic a couple years ago. I never experienced their natural haired brushes, which I suspect is what you have. But I think they used goat hair, and these are squirrel hairs which are much much softer and silkier. But more delicate and work best with powder products that aren't hard to pick up.
