    I had a proctocolectomy about 7 weeks ago. I was in hospital for 15 days. I was in Intensive Care for 4 days. I didn't even stand up for 4 days, it's amazing that you are able to come home after 2 days🙂
    Hope you're well xx

    You are so sweet,loving, gratuitous for posting and you have and awesome positivity from what you have been through. I’m glad you have a husband/boyfriend to help you. Him and your dad also have great attitudes. I’ve been keeping up in case I need this someday but I don’t have the strength that you do. BTW, I am Jeffery, 56 years old and from Michigan. You have my support and prayer to keep moving forward and for giving so many others a positive influence on how they can do this. You are truly an angel and inspiration.

    I literally just found ur channel a couple days ago. I'm so glad u have made it thru the worst part and ur now on the recovery side of this adventure. I'm no where near as ill as u have been, but I have a chronic bowel issue (among other dx's) and I'm pretty sure I'll eventually have bowel cancer, so ur positivity is encouraging for me. I hope u recover quickly and I'll follow up with ur next videos.

    You are so 💪...such a lovely person. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 25 years ago. At that time I had an abscess the size of a grapefruit. I came close to dying. My gastro doctor thought I would be a tough case going forward. I have been symptom free since then. It is an insidious disease and could awaken any time. I hope you have a great 2020 filled with love and wellness.

    Incredible - I am a doctor and you have to be the perkiest person so soon after major surgery!!
    You will find that you will have ongoing fluid losses through your ostomy, and this is a real problem!

    It doesn't matter how many times I have had drains removed, they hurt like hell. It is less likely you end up with an hospital infection, if you go home as early as possible. You did brilliantly with surgery on Friday and home on Monday. Just remember, you had major surgery that will rake time too heal.
    Happy New Year everyone.

    Wow you did amazing after surgery! I had my first of about 10 resections and ileostomy 29 years ago when I was 16. My Crohns flared last year after almost 20 yrs remission and I've had alot of the same problems you've had over the past year. The flare is in my rectum and the small part of my colon still attached. My GI recommended I have the proctocolectomy surgery but after many conversations and for various reasons he's advised I delay as I'm very high risk. I was terrified of having it anyway but not so much after watching your journey. I'm doing Infliximab and azathioprine combination but I know in the next year or two I will need it. Thanks for sharing your story, it makes a massive difference to people and makes it not such a lonely disease. I hope you have a speedy recovery and Merry Christmas to you and Zak.

    Zack is the best lol he puts a smile on his face and embraces you with grace, does not complain about the pain you caused him because he understands is nothing compared to your pain lol . He is just like my husband ❤️Maggie, I really don’t know how you do it and put a smile on your face after all you go through. I personally don’t suffer from What you have, only Lupus, and after I started watching your videos, I kind of stopped complaining about my pain! Keep fighting 🙌🙏.

    Woe is the life of those of us who have had this surgery (eleven digestive surgeries for me and still counting due to so many, many complications that continue to arise). Thank goodness you have youth on your side. I hope your journey proceeds much better than mine. Hang in there, good days and bad days will happen. As with everything, it takes time to adjust to your new life. The thing that helped me the most was to give my ileostomy a name. Seriously, Candice Elaine K. DOB 10/26/2005. Take care of yourself and keep smiling even when it hurts.🙃🙃

    Oh Maggie about the drain!!! I have PTSD with that, first time didn’t hurt but the other two times it was like an animal being tortured!!! One time my pain meds wore off the other time felt like Jack the Ripper! I bawled for an hour!! I scared the whole floor with my swearing 🤬 & howling, Iam sure I broke the nurses fingers!!! You were so brave but I know that pain!!! Next time I told them to bring me down to the ER! Sorry if I scared everyone but sometimes they need to hear what the patient tells them!!! Your one brave tough awesome cookie! Speedy recovery & a Merry Christmas 🎄 to you & Zak! ❤️🇨🇦

    I had my Barbie butt surgery and my colostomy put in in October. I had just had six weeks of chemo and radiation across my midsection because I had rectal cancer. I still have my catheter in. My drain was in my bottom and my wound isn't completely healed yet. The second day after my surgery they put me on a regular diet and I ate a salad. Big mistake lol
    I'm glad you are doing well 😊

    Wishing you a speedy recovery!
    Weird question: now that your colon has been removed, what happens to that space? Does everything else shift down, or did they fit you with a mesh sling to hold everything else in its normal spot? Does it pull on or alter the position or angle of your stoma? You are such a warrior - I so admire your positive attitude in the face of everything life has dealt you. Zak is wonderful too!

    • @ICaughtTheSnitch26
      @ICaughtTheSnitch26 5 років тому +2

      Your intestines are attached to a membrane (mesentary) that holds everything in place.

    • @Slastukin67
      @Slastukin67 5 років тому

      @@ICaughtTheSnitch26 So there's just a space where the colon used to be? I have heard of phantom limb pain, where one has a sense of a body part that is no longer there - is the same thing an issue with organ removal? Not a kidney or that sort of organ, but there is an awareness with the digestive organs, and surely the absence would confuse the brain.

    • @ICaughtTheSnitch26
      @ICaughtTheSnitch26 5 років тому +3

      @@Slastukin67 my understanding is that the mesentary can also shift. So organs and things can move around to some extent, but not a lot. That's why when you stand up you don't have all your internal organs weighed down into your pelvis. So either fluid will fill that space, or other internal organs will slightly shift to fill it. I have heard of fantom colonic spasms in people who have had their colons removed, but not everyone experiences that. I guess it depends on the person and how their brain is wired.

    When I had my drain removed I didn’t feel a thing. AS I said in a past post when I had my rectum removed it got infected they had to remove my stitches and let it heal naturally they did offer to pack it but I said no the silver dollar Size hole did heal and close after a few month yes sitting down was a challenge for the first couple of weeks now dealing with a large hole we’re my anus and rectum used to be was Missy at first ( wore a lot of depends ) for a couple of month and today I’m am doing great
    I don’t know about you but there might be some phantom pain the feeling of needing to go number 2 if that happens go and sit on the toilet the feeling well disappear and this still happens once in a while maybe every few months I’ll feel pain we’re the anus was after standing a long time but goes a way quickly when I lay down
