Great video as always jon and congratulations on the section win in extremely tough conditions. Your an inspiration to us all with your dedication to fishing no matter what the conditions are
You are always so calm and classy..a great angler of all venues,,,and also very informative..You actually made very tough conditions ,,!!! Look interesting..
Hi Jon enjoyed the blog great example of how to keep focused even in extreme conditions. Is there any chance you could do a small vid on how you identified possible pockets of fish in swim when you are prepping please
Hi Jeff, it's a simple case of carefully dragging the plummet (I use a 20g) to the left and right just off the bottom. You will see the line hit obstacles/fish and if it judders and even moves then that is often a tight ball of fish. However, I have found these balls in the past with a plummet and they have been 100% a tightly packed shoal of fish with the line clearly twitching, only for them to swim off before the start of a match never to be located again! It tends to work best with carp and F1s on snake lakes, which I have seen gang up like sardines in extreme cold. I'm sure in big open water lakes they do the same thing but way out of pole range.
Hi John, you must be a real nut cace to go fishing in this weather. You are nearly as bad as me. I went pike Fishing, two years ago. With the temperature at minus 6 degrees cel. I caught 6 pike, between 6 and 15 lb Ann ended up in hospital with pneumonia. It was still a great day out.
That looks like tough going mate, i've been fishing today in a blizzard here in Lithuania in the only section of ice thats thawed since December I have to admit it wasn't much fun. One question is that Drennan jacket waterproof ? or could you recommend one that is i'm struggling to find something decent. Another great video fella just found your channel and subbed.
Thats a common Carp at 26:23? i cannot for the life of me tell the difference in appearance from Commons and F1's, tbh i thought that was an F1 from its colour...is it just the barbs how you tell the difference? F1's have less barbs than Commons? nice video anyway winter is now upon us even though its still mild weather for now so good to watch these videos. Did you catch any fish on dobbing bread? was it all just on maggots, feeding 3 or 4 maggots in a pot at a time?
Common carp are a little leaner and a slightly different shape, but the telltale sign is they have barbules, whereas F1s have none or just tiny nodules.
Hi Jon im having trouble with my top kit sticking to my next section due to moisture then I’m unable to break down do you have a solution to stop this happening gets so frustrating when I’m in a match thanks mate any suggestions
I just stop the video to tell you that you are crazy, I know we are all have the same fishing illness but man this far beyond stuff I have done when I was young. For sure I will not do it today at my age. At this stage I don't know the result but I hope you won after suffering that weather!!
Great video as always jon and congratulations on the section win in extremely tough conditions. Your an inspiration to us all with your dedication to fishing no matter what the conditions are
Thanks so much

Thanks Daphne, yes us anglers have to question our sanity sometimes, ha ha!
Wow, my vid's already had well over 10,000 views in less than a week. Thanks everyone, and for all the nice comments!
That looked cold! Nice video as always though John
Glad to see you dont bite your lead shot on the line, I used to do that now got high lead levels in my blood

I wear Matrix Hydro RS 20k now. Almost all the Drennan team anglers I know wear Halkon Hunt Gore-Tex tbh
Thanks for the reply @@JonArthur I'll check them out, tight lines Mr.
been there , its no joke

I see, thanks.
You going to the northern tackle show Jon ?
Nope sorry
Gutted would love to have met you in person Jon
Very brave however warm water proof gloves do help.
Would it be bad form to rock up with a patio heater in such poor weather condition? 😂
Nope I’d try it!
Hi Jon
im having trouble with my top kit sticking to my next section due to moisture then I’m unable to break down do you have a solution to stop this happening gets so frustrating when I’m in a match thanks mate any suggestions
Best trick is to rub candle wax on the problem joint.
Thank you for taking the time to reply Jon defo try it. keep bagging mate respect
oove to live near tbf. you are spoilt in the midlands
Nice but fool hardy vid John , you master all fishing technics get used to a brolly , easy when pole fishing, or will catch up on you in later years .
I just stop the video to tell you that you are crazy, I know we are all have the same fishing illness but man this far beyond stuff I have done when I was young. For sure I will not do it today at my age. At this stage I don't know the result but I hope you won after suffering that weather!!
that suit looks soaking wet is it serpose to look like yu fell in the lake
wait till you get older, fishing in snow, you will pay for it.invest in a brolly, got to keep dry,and warm ,
