I like her. She has a 90s grungy retro sound to her music. Very cool.
She's a big favourite of mine recently. Great to see her do KEXP again.
She's amazing, great songwriter, great modern/retro feel, a vulnerable artist communicating through music.

I love JLM. I look forward to listening to the new album. My favorite album so far is "make my head sing..", it's a little darker and I love it.
Even some of her earlier stuff has some very dark lyrics. "Do I Have the Time," for example

she is just the best....these shows are all phenomenal and big thanks for doing them. I do sound and lights at a venue in Healdsburg California called The Elephant in the Room. I was wondering if you could tell me where to get some of the cool lights you have that look like a star curtain . Thanks!!!

@@Warrogue1 she said she had an abusive boyfriend in the band around this time but didn't give any names. She fired whoever it was shortly after this performance so it probably was patrick.
@@niandra_tWhere did you read that, if you can remember? I only know about her ex-husband, Jesse Newport, the bass player in her previous band, being abusive. I would not have thought she would have gotten involved with another abusive guy after that. If she did then it is great that she did not stick with him.

Finally saw her live in the UK, really bad response to her European tour on most vids (I have one on my channel) I actually thought it was really good and was happy to finally catch her. However, 55 mins beginning to end including the encore (1 song) was pretty poor. Actually the shortest gig I've ever been too.
Julia Robinson like I said, we did enjoy the music, never going to sound it's best on a phone standing right next to speakers, it was a very heavy set and I would have like some acoustic songs. My biggest gripe was the length.
When I saw her in DC in March, the opening band (T Hardy Morris) backed her and they were good, but I agree the show was too short.
Was it because she did not have this great band with her or some other reason?

Sucks she has been a victim of domestic abuse. At least she's not a man, she less likely to abused and can talk about it. Plus there are shelters. I don't mind being hit so much, but the verbal hateful shit often never heals. And you can't punch her… but she can hit you police just laugh. And the ladies use weapons more. Thanks, ladies. I have hit a girl twice in hundred or so relationships, once to disarm the knife she was coming at me with. Once to shop her from hitting me over and over and over.

Are they playing in the bottom of a corn silo. This is what happens when people think they know what sounds good are incharge .turn of the fuckin reverb.
The reverb is a stylistic choice. It is prominent in her music/live shows
