There're 2 types of M109. Long caliber and short caliber, A is long and G is short(Isreal has both). The different is the drop rate of the shell and some G has smoke grenade.
They recently buffed the chode m109 with better round velocity. Something about certain charges giving it the ability to achieve those speeds. They're essentially the same except with some minor differences.
@@victortopor6160not true, for artillery, the length is commonly given as a multiple of the internal caliber of the barrel and is also referred to as caliber
@@airsoftpopcorn a good rule of thumb is any gun commonly measured in inches will generally have its caliber length mentioned. Though this has fallen off since the advent of missiles and guided mlrs as ship armament and artillery respectively leaving very few instances of this system of measurement.
@@victortopor6160Caliber is used differently for cannons vs small arms. For instance, the main battery of an Iowa-class battleship is made up of sixteen inch fifty caliber guns. The 88mm gun on a King Tiger is higher caliber than the 88mm on a Tiger. You will actually see this often if you look at the names of German cannons expressed after the letter L. Higher caliber guns often are more effective, hence of a "higher caliber," due to a longer barrel allowing higher muzzle velocity and better range and accuracy. OP was correct to say that the short barrel M109 has a lower caliber cannon.
btw IS tanks are very hard to overpressure as you sort of showed at the start. this is because if you hit the turret face, the explosion penetrates the roof of the hull. But on IS tanks the roof is not there wch makes overpressuring way harder.
@@nichedaily yes but it is way harder to hit and a good player will wobble so it gets even harder. But yes from closeup you can still kill it like that.
The way the proxy shell works in game is that it'll detonate 2-3m from the ground. So when you shoot at a tank, the drop will prematurely detonate the shell before it even arrives at the tank. So you have to HEAVILY consider the environment and calculate how high you shoot to just roughly explode directly above the tank. So hills and trenches will trigger the shell if youre below that line of sight. Best to use the proxy if you have the higher ground to mostly mitigate that premature detonation. It easily shows how the shell works in the stat card animation.

Fun fact
M109 has The same explosive as vidar so taking it to 11.7 is a free godmode

The UK one is a beast purely because you can triple down on the derp with the G6 and the FV4005.

Spaded mine and got it a Talisman, it's nice to clap the Panthers and Tiger 2's in one hit.
I love the mio9a1 in my usa lineups, I run it as high as 8.3 and peobably run it higher as I progress lol. Its just a fun tank
imagine if we got the modernized M109L for Italy

Um, what?
Japan has type 75 with autoloader that i think is even better.
pretty sure its in the Chinese tech tree as well tho i might be wrong.
@@nick11jlthe chinese one is an uncanny, cheap, knockoff version that the brightest minds in china ‘made’
Type 75 isn't an M109, nor is it related; it is derived from the Type 74 105mm howitzer, based on the Type 73 APC.
This thing is a beast, i have been using the rochev on my 8.0 lineup and it can still one shot most of the tanks
i pretty much only play rb, but if you havent tried a howitzer in arcade you're missing out. One of the funnest things you can do in warthunder

What?
When we get the the pzh 2000
It’s a ju288 that’s why it didn’t insta die
