I had unaddressed post operative pain with my 4th spinal surgery. This one was similar to my first, posterior n anterior brackets n screws being opened from the front and the back. I was in unspeakable pain as I was being wheeled to my room, the whole first 2 days, and only the edge being taken off for the balance of my stay. I have spinal issues that according to my prognosis will require more surgeries until my full spine is fused. I'm terrified of another surgery. I have taken a nasty fall and don't want to report it because I don't want any more surgery until I absolutely have to. I had an associate of my original surgeon for this surgery. I told him I was faced with praying to God, asking Him if this is where I pray to live, or pray to die. The surgeon apologized, but that hasn't lessened my fear of a repeat performance. I thought this would be like my first surgery, where the pain was under control and my sense of fight was intact, wanting to be up and walking as soon as possible, and often. It's been over a year since this last surgery, and I haven't even conquered physical therapy. I still have nightmares of the horrendous, intense pain, I still tear up talking about it. I'm in intensive weekly counseling. I don't know where to go from here.
