As time goes on, I prophesies that fullbacks will make a comeback in the world of football as both a pass catcher and a bonafide backfield runner who can rebuild their athleticism while gaining in strength/power. Like every prophecy, that’s gonna come with time and analysis into the position as well as offensive schemes by up and coming coordinators
When im playing an older Madden or NCAA, i would often give the ball to the fullback at the goal line to get that touchdown. One of the older NCAA titles had a T-form formation that was fun to use for how heavy it was.
The thing is you need a fullback every dynasty has had a good fullback for the most part most superbowl teams have a fullback. For good reason there very good and if you have a good fullback the sky is the limit.
I don't know if I would say they could make a "comeback" per se, but if you know how to use them they can still be very productive parts of the offense as utility players. A guy like Kyle Juszczyk who can do everything from rush to block to catch, all at high levels, is really helpful to have on a team, and I think if modern fullbacks are going to stay relevant in the league, that's the way to go about implementing them. As well, having a big guy with good ball carrying skills and the ability to run people over for a couple yards will never not be useful to at least some extent. Having a good fullback can easily make any 1st an 10 more like 1st and 8.
At the moment, I’m working on a series of novels set in the future where the fullback position makes a huge comeback in the NFL thanks to main character, yet has to deal with a league of 40 teams and the wear and tear that age comes with it. The character himself is an old school fullback who is that triple threat guy with their team (ex military guy who also played rugby in college) and gets compared to legendary power rushers such as Mike Alstott, Jerome Bettis and John Riggins. Thoughts?

Full back run up the middle is one of the best plays in Madden at the goal line.
