- Chainsaw sawmill from Logosol using Stihl chansaw. Portable like an Alaskan mill but with extendable aluminium guide rail that definitely increases the precision and milling possibilities.
Great fun for woodworkers.
There are more amazing tools on Logosol´s website. Perfect for DIY. -
After making a few logs into lumber, I bet you are the best chain sharpener on the planet.
I have to say this was a brilliant idea both for those who have wooded areas and those artists who make things from natural wood, the uses are so varied and wonderful.
That is intense in design and functionality. Nice product.
nothing is batter than a honest work:)
Even though I live in Los Angeles, I love this stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing better than the smell of fresh cut pine in the morning
Sometimes the ONLY other option is to bring in a portable mill. When choices are limited, you do what you have to do.
Ironically, properly curing the planks or beams can be a bigger hassle than many anticipate. Depending on the type of wood, season, and other resources. But if you're just making out buildings or a small barn, it's a great alternative.
Its a wonderful Tool and Idea. Stop with the negativity.
This would save so much money instead of buying it at home-depot or lows, I'm impressed :)
Sauber, einwandfrei.
I have seen micro mobile mills before but this is awesome ! U can mill anywhere !
Design seems simple and sturdy, always good signs.
A few starter tips for the worriers, since it seems that is their level.
For extensive use, quality chains. Make sure the chain gets oiled. Check that the chain tension is correct. Try to avoid getting the logs covered in sand\dirt. Make sure you begin the cut without skipping. Make sure you are not applying too much force. Cut in such a manner that the log do not trap chain and blade. Sharpen chain before the smoke start rising.
Safety.
What! this is freaking awesome!
That's awesome, great video.

Cool set-up. . My grandpa fabricated something similar that he utilized to re-level chopping blocks, but it had a high speed electric motor with an exposed blade on the end.
Considering the price of wood these days, thats awesome.
the best bit was when he ate his sandwich
BLOODY BRILLIANT, GOOD WORK AM GUNNA MAKE ME ONE OF THEM!
That's a lot of work, and a lot of chains...
I'd rather have this with me and the required parts than using that same weight in building materials.
It's mostly aimed for use when transporting building materials aren't as good an option (or being a very expensive one)
IntoxicatedHumans
Problem is you have to let the wood season before you use it as if you put it in right away, it will warp... brother built his own house doing this (has a bandsaw sawmill) and before he put the drywall up, he had to cut and shim the 2x4s in the walls to make them straight again
John Franklin Yes of course, but this is the complete counterpart of bringing materials in by chopper.
And letting it dry is just a matter of storage, a windy place with some tarp over it and a good amount of spacers does the trick.
Very nice,..I can see that it could come handy out in the bush!
Every "medium sized" not industrial volume, tree company should be obligated to work these machines on the field at every job site...
we negate doing a hard job, by simply wasting good materials that are hard to come by... this is brilliant for third world countries....
I use an alaskan mill and usually touch up the file by hand after every fuel up. Been at it for 15 years and don't see the need to send my chains off to a shop anymore. I do have a $30 chain sharpener just to even up the chain after 10 hours or so of cutting. Big saws are worth buying, and will go through a log faster than a bandsaw. Have you ever priced out a bandsaw blade? Thanks I'll stick to my $30 dollar chains. I run them down to the nubs and they last for weeks. Sure I lose a lot more wood than a bandsaw.. however, I buy my equipment used and I've acquired many free saws from friends, or will trade lumber/firewood for equipment. Some day I'll pick up a bandsaw, there are nice ones out there for under $3k and I would like to cut veneer which is impractical with a chainsaw. Running a saw at high rpm all the time isn't the worst thing you can do to your saw.. running uneven chain and constantly bogging down the motor is what kills them. Don't try to mill with your ol' 20" poulan. Running water coolant is a viable way to keep the bar and chain from overheating and wearing excessively yet you do have to take the extra maintenance and make sure your saw is cleaned and oiled at the end of the day. This system looks nice, yet I'd rather have a frame that holds the tip of the saw too. good luck.
that's a very clever idea I would have not thought of it
This would be amazing for building hiking path bridges in the mountains!
Didn't know that Malfoy was a lumberjack
+appLez pouhahahaha
+appLez I though he was Macaulay Culkinm...
That was the the coolest thing Iv'e seen in a while. I wonder if I could rent one someplace?
Nice video..selut for your idea sir...great person
Nice, I like your chain saw mill
AWESOME MAN!
He levels both ends to make sure they're parallel, not just to make them level. Once parallel, he can roll it to a more useful position.
if you live in the woods is pretty good, save money and you cut the material at the size you need it, plus is fun too
Yep, cut one log, break for lunch. Seems about right.
Looks to be super portable though. Still wonder if a person would not be better off using a mule to haul the log to a faster mill...
great job!
Another consideration is a logging permit. In some places, if you only want a bit of lumber, just to get the logging permit would cost more than the value of the finished product. And a reputable logger or mill cannot cut or mill the trees without that permit.
Ingenious!
great idea!
Why am i watching this
+AnimeT0getherEU You've got me, I don't even own a saw.
Holy crap that will go through some chains, shit ton of gas as well. I cant imagine how slow that would be as well on a big tree
I want one of these now, even though I have no use for it.
@zacker001 Sounds excellent for this rig. Chainsaws I have used tend to have a very small tank for oil.
Most ingenious!
I guess that If he would have attached the device to a lower point, screwing it near the edge of the log, than he could have cutted the whole log without readjustments.
Very nice device.
Very nice!
I wonder how often they need to resharpen their chains? I suggest to add a wedge to hold up the 2/3 down cut planks?
My best congratulation for the idea!
Great tool!
I have chainsaw "mill" at home for years. Aluminium, 4 m lenght, strong and not heavy, transportable on the roof of car. It is a very expensive way to get some wood for work (I am a cabinet-worker and toy-maker).
Yup. I've you've got the time and want to save your money to buy other things, then it is a good way to go. You have to enjoy the value of working though, something those young whipper snappers often lack!
Great job Bob I just need 5000 more
Dang, that's pretty smart.
The. Best one i seen
The kerf on a chainsaw blade wastes a lot of wood. But I understand onsite milling has some advantages.
it's handy if you have small work to do in side forestry.otherwise it's massev wasting of time and money.I Am planning to start same log work designs in the forestry with mixed of stone work.So hopefuly it can be ideal for me.
Ain't nobody got time for that!
Very good idea.
Wonder what he had on his sandwiches
and washed them down with some 2 stroke mix....Yum
Jews
sawdust like all good wood workers
vegemite
If he uses the level on both ends he can ensure that the cut is straight. Then he rolls it to wherever he wants.
looks about right cut 6 boards and it's time for lunch. Cool idea though.
If the boards were from green timber they would start to warp for a pastime and split as they dry......good idea for green oak beams...
i think this blades will be destroyed 400% faster but why can forbid him?
I got sa cheap one for about $100, its nothing like those, its sort of like the granger small lumber mill. I like Logosol's set up it looks really nice.
they really don't work your saw more than anything else, get a rip blade.
this come in handy....i love the idea...this can DYS..
LOL!!!! this is classic at 1:40 just sitting back eating a sandwich.
Its a wonderful Tool and Idea. Stop with the negativity.1 :02
i like this :)
Splitting it is even better, but not overly viable now.
thats pretty cool
you might have a point. Be worth investigating. I do know, the alaskan mill was a lot of work!
What happens if the log has to big of a radius, do you cut if from both sides or is the diameter controlled by the length of the blade while making a single cut?
blade length & chainsaw HP
ajjajaja muy bueno me dejaste atónito felicitaciones
@gunmanscotland To ensure the angle was the same as the stable leg on the opposite end of the log.
Hello, how much it takes to be a strong chain saw to it could be cut timber, and how many times a day can work but that does not spoil?
good job men
Good and very handy..
Good job
I wonder where all the sawdust goes, is it recycled?
Is it used for making paper?
nice tool.
I would love to have a mill for my husqvarna.
Nice! Somebody needs to make a thinner titanium saw blade for this. Chainsaw blades are rather thick, it would waste less wood, cut faster, and place less stress on your chainsaw. You can thank me later. :o) Very nice though.
it's great idea. I am agree too.
Got to get one
1:38 - like a BOSS!
is that a rip chain or a regular chain
Good thing lowes has them already cut
So how many times did you have to sharpen your chain?
brilliant
