Came back home from college to 7 VHS tapes, including a TRB, two promotional tapes, AND A TAPE THAT MIGHT HAVE AN INSANELY RARE CLOSING! Watch to find out what the tapes are.
Your "sponge who could fly" tape is exactly if not almost exactly the same age as I am. I was born on December 26th, 2003 and that is also the 51st week of 2003. It was printed between December 22nd and December 29th 2003
Awesome update Brett! I’m particularly interested in the Notre Dame bootleg, the SpongeBob tape and that “Mystery Closing, Charlie Brown”. I’ve already told him this on Discord, but I’ll say it here - the tape name for that rare closing is PERFECT 😂
Great Update I've got The Hunchback of Notre Dame (my copy isn't a bootleg), & the Paramount flatbox copy of The Jazz Singer (my copy is a 1984 reprint)
0:36 I have a bootleg of The Lion King that also has the Black Diamond error on the spine, but this time it also has it on the label too. Hopefully I can get my hands on some other Disney bootleg tapes in the future, because other than The Lion King I also have Dinosaur that has the New Line logo on the label that’s recycled from Last Man Standing 1997 VHS.
Trevon Reid did some bootleg-related videos and I recommend you check them out, they’re hilarious. Also, I read a comment on the SpongeBob wiki where a user and his friends recreated the whole Sponge Who Could Fly episode by digging the SpongeBob tape shown here into a hole, then going to a playground and doing the same antics as Patchy, and then they watched the tape, and at the end, they tangeled themselves with tape just like Patchy!
This is the full story. “You know what I did? I put my copy in a box, took it down to the childrens' playground and buried it. Then, I redrew the map and rubberbanded it to a rock (even though it was really a brick) and had my friend throw it over the fence. We went looking for it. First, we passed by my grandma's place (as Mrs. Johnson's house), the Dooley's Pub (as Don's Import Store & Delicatessan), the dead tree (as the forked tree) and made it over to the playground and each of us actually played there 8 times each! Then, we dug up the tape, took it back to my house, played the walk cycles segment and I went crazy. At the end, I had my brother rip out the taping components of the VHS and I swam around in it while my friend played freakin' Giuseppe di Stefano on his phone! We obviously basically reenacted the whole damn episode! We never got footage of us doing it, sadly. :(“
