- There is a proper way to make the cut to prune your fruit trees, do not make flush cuts or stubs cuts, cuts that are too close to the main trunk or too far away from the main trunk. Also, there is a 3 cut process to prune big branches. Avoid these pruning mistakes and avoid killing your trees.

Thanks Jag. I will be trimming next week. I’m behind but you are motivating me to get it done. Take care
Wow great 👍🏼 tip thank you
Thanks!
Wish I had seen this a few days ago before I snipped some twisted branches off an apple tree. I trimmed right close to the trunk...
The bigger problem with stub cuts, in my opinion, is that they can become weapons of painful destruction down the road. Getting stabbed in back or on the scalp by a hardened stub can really smart. 😫
great info!
Excellent advice. I hv 2 pomegranate trees & 2 Meyer lemon trees trained on my patio. People hv come by, snapping limbs off to lazily graft or just to be dirty.
TY for providing a way to help the damages. 😊😊
Jag your’e a star!
I know! right?
Thanks for sharing 😀
How about a video on pruning blueberry plants! Central KY and we woke to 2" of snow this morning. Thank you. God Bless and stay safe.
Yes here in TN we have 3-4 inches and it’s still coming ❄️
@@stonenova1217 Lexington schools called off for tomorrow and now our local school did. Blessings
This is on my list, I am waiting for the weather to warm up just a bit to prune blueberries, coming up in February! :)
Genius advice as always Jag ! Much appreciated 😎👍
Thanks a lot ❤❤❤
yup
That's not true for all trees, cutting techniques depend on species and even cultivar varieties in some situations, plus the age of the tree, planting scheme, climate type, etc. For the example you've chosen (peach or nectarine tree) in my area (Eastern Europe) we use mostly stub cuts because the relatively harsh winters can kill the end of the stump and you need the option to cut it back at least once when that happens.
Also that's not a pruning saw you're using. It's true that pretty much any hand saw works on soft fruit tree branches, but if you have like a few hundred trees to maintain you'll need a proper pruning saw that cuts quickly, clean and with as little effort as possible. You can get a reasonably good one around 15-20 bucks so it's not much of an investment (for amateurs I don't recommend electric saws, as they're harder to control and require special techniques to avoid damaging the tree).
