Don't forget the girl creepers. I cosplayed as Dirk Strider at Daisho Con and mainly 12 year old girls were all up on me, like TOO close and were flirting and that was really uncomfortable. I told them that I have a girlfriend and that they were too young for me (I was 16 and about to be 17 soon) and they kept on. I just made an excuse that I have to meet my friends and just *zoomed* out
My first ever cosplay was Ciel Phantomhive, I was like 13 and there were these girls who came up to me and kept petting my head;;; I was like ((((;゜Д゜)))!!!!
This happens way more often than my friends and I would like, so our group has a codeword (won't say for safety's sake) so we can just call and integrate the codeword in and (I've had people use it three times) protocol is I ask where you are, give you an excuse to leave your situation and head immediately there to come get you. Gotten people out of really scary situations. It's been a lifesaver.
This is why I don't usually go to anime conventions. They are a different experience than mainstream cons and science fiction cons. You're more likely to find edgy, strange, and creepy crowd at Anime Cons.
Yes you are. I agree because I’ve dealt with it for 11 damn years. That’s why I’ve become disheartened with the anime community. The infighting, the exclusion, being branded a creep without even doing anything. I’ve had enough of it for a decade. I’ve also stopped trying to find a girlfriend in the anime community, because I got tired of their overpickiness, their hypocrisy, and also them putting me in the same boat with other guys. As for the guys I got tired of other anime community guys fucking shit up for other guys who are trying to do right.
So, I have always cosplayed male characters until two years ago when I cosplayed my first female character (Neptune from Sailor Moon). I was in a group and we hung out then did a photoshoot, and afterwards we split up to eat or change or whatever people had plans for. I was staying in my cosplay and just going to go meet up with another group of friends. Now I'm also a photographer, so while walking I would stop to get hall shots of cosplays that catch my eye. I saw a group of Star Wars cosplayers so I stop them for a few pics and I dig out my camera and take them, chat briefly with the cosplayers about SW, give them my photography page info, that kind of stuff. All during this I notice this guy standing off to the side watching. Once the cosplayers I had stopped left I stooped down to pack my camera back up in my camera bag, and thats's when the guy approached me. I figured at this point that he was just waiting nicely to ask for a picture of me so I close my bag and smile as I stood up. He opened up by saying I looked great and that he had seen me with my group but had been too shy to approach (After everything I think he was waiting to see if he could get me alone), then asked me if I was Sailor Jupiter. I told him that no, I was Sailor Neptune, and explained that she was a character that comes in later in the series. He then asked for a pic and I pose for him, and then with a polite goodbye I start to leave. He falls into step next to me. Okay...odd.... He tells me he works in the gaming room and that I should swing by and see him sometime. Then he dops a cringy pickup line. "Do you know anything about smartphones?" (I had only just gotten my first one after having a crap phone for years so no.) "Because I'm having a problem with mine, I go in here to my contacts and your number is missing. Think you could fix that?" Now I'm one of those people who can't be mean to people, even when I'm uncomfortable, so I politely turn him down. He seems disappointed but finally leaves with an overly friendly , and unwarranted side-hug. Thinking it was over, I rushed into vendors where my friends were and meet up with them at their table, and I talk to them and help them out a little bit until vendor's closing time. Since I don't have an artist or vendor's badge, I say goodbye and pull out my phone to see where some of my other friends are. At the door someone taps my shoulder and I turn to see the guy from earlier and he uses the crowd to trap me. He then proceeded to ask me which hotel I was staying in, I didn't answer so he then said that his has a nice jacuzzi in his room and I should go up and enjoy it with him "No bathing suit needed" as he slipped a hand around my waist and pulled me closer. I pushed him off me and said I was not single (which is true) and he said that it didn't matter. "what happens at con, stays at con" Luckily right then I was tapped on the shoulder again and I turned to see a girl and she asked me for a picture. I eagerly jumped at this escape and said "Sure! Let's just move to a less crowded area, okay?" and with her I managed to break away from creepy gamer staff guy. We get to a more open area, I pose and she gets her pic. I look around and don't see the guy anymore and I thank her and explained the situation she unknowingly had rescued me from. She then asked if I wanted her to walk with me until I found some friends, and she did so. Once I found a group of friends I told them what had happened and my friends walked with me to con ops to make a report with security. That night I received a text from head of security saying that he did indeed work in the game room and he has been fired, removed, and banned from the convention. (I hadn't known his name but had his description and the fact he told me he worked gaming so they had to investigate to see if he was actually staff or not) When I cosplay male characters I never have creepy things happen. but every time I cosplay a female character the creepers are drawn in like magnants. (There was another incident, same con but a previous year, where I was convinced by a friend to go to the rave, my first one. I didn't have rave outfits or anything so I borrowed things and was dressed more like a girl. Promptly got molested while dancing. Had to elbow the guy in the face to get him to stop groping me (first my boob, which I slapped his hand away from in warning. then my side which I also slapped away, then full out crotch grabbing and lifting which got the elbow) and I had a friend working security that year so i got their attention and it was taken care of. but I don't do raves at all because of that experience.)
I have one. The convention I went to at the beginning of July was partially outside(It was under a roof, but everything else was exposed). It was my first year as an artist with a table. I was sharing the table with the rest of my art class; and everything was okay, we were having fun taking turns exploring the con. Then it starts to rain, at first it was just a drizzle, so I was like okay, maybe the humidity will go down. Then it starts to rain more, and more, and more, and then the wind comes, and the thunder. The sky just opens up, and all of our artwork just blows off the table. It goes everywhere. All the other artists out there are trying to help us catch our work, all the while trying to catch their own. They had folding wire stands filled with their work falling over, and it was just a mess. Finally the storm dies down a bit, and we were able to catch our stuff. We gathered all the work and got it all back in order, only to realize that half of the work we had brought to sell, hadn't been sealed. It was on printer paper, and there was no protective coating at all. We had brought several books to sell, and almost half of them were completely destroyed. That day, I only made $6.00, on art that we had all spent several days (in some cases weeks) working on. :(
Ugh tell me about it. I was waiting for my friend to finish her panel that she was at, and I was just looking at my phone. Then this late 20's(?) looking guy came up to me and started to ask me these incredibly racist/degrading questions. He started off saying konnichiwa to me, then asked how submissive I was in bed(going with the disgusting stereotype of submissive asians) . I was absolutely appalled, and I told him to go away. When my friend returned, I told her and then we started laughing at the ignorance of the dude. Made that hour of the con pretty sour, but makes a pretty disgustingly great story.
The cosplayer with the sign in the first few seconds is a creeper, I really don't have any good experiences with him. We got him banned from the Rosemont Hyatt conventions but keeps coming back.
My bad experience wasn’t at the con it was on my way to the con, me and my friends were cosplaying homestuck characters (I was eridan,my friend was sollux and my other friend was karkat) people were staring at us and kept taking pictures of us on the train without our consent and whenever kids walked past us their parents just moved them away making us feel really uncomfortable and the next day we were doing another homestuck cosplay as the alpha kids and I was jake and there was this dude like staring at me and he kept making comments about my butt bearing in mind I’m like 13 and I have anxiety (we were on the train again because england god damn it why u no have hotels for cons) and I’m extremely awkward and me being me I just took my two fake guns out of my pockets and pointed them at the dude I have anxiety anger problems and autism and stuff, my friends had to hold me back to stop me from kicking the dude and they just told him to fuck off an we had to report him to the train staff
And yeah creepers like these just make me want to scream "STOP BEING STEREOTYPICAL!" Since people like these give male fans of cosplay a bad name and I've seen outsiders decry all men who enjoy cosplay as perverts. And on top of #CosplayIsNotConsent , cosplayers aren't there to be your personal porn collection because an attractive girl happens to be dressed up as your waifu. Just treat women with respect already!
SpookyRoseV well when your walking around another's personal sexual fantasy is bound to happen lol. Think twice before letting strangers getting photos or selfish with yourself they will grab most of the time lol.
Geez, I'm gonna be going to my first con hoooopefully soon and something like this kind of unnerves me, but then again I pray someone doesn't want to hit on a teen if their cosplaying as a tired, probably 30 year old depressed man. The thought of someone still doing it then is just... _why_ . *-cough-*- Aizawa -*-cough-*
Way late to the part, but as a Michigan con goer, I know EXACTLY what con you're talking about. Some friends of mine used to be on the staff, and I've heard some stories...
Oh my god, is this like.. GoDaikocon? I won a prize in the hall contest in 2015 (it was a Kyubey cosplay) and left early, I felt so bad!! If this is the same con omg.. I'm so sorry. I had no idea that stuff was happening at the con, I'm so sorry about what happened.
I went to this con and so many of the panels we went to were late or cancelled ?!!? I still had so much fun and the people were so nice!! One of the panels people who were waiting just ended up making our own panel lol and it was so funny and fun. It was a bit of a mess though.
I want to go to a convention as junko enoshima and she has a short skirt and it will be uncomfortable trying to cover myself and also explain to people I'm a boy
Note to people who have had uncomfortable experiences with either A) Younger girls hitting on you because of your cosplay, and their way too close to you, or B) Have at the opposite gender do the same thing, here's a tip. Don't cosplay characters that the Crazy Fangirls, or Fanboys will be attracted to for example: A 17yo guy Cosplay Levi, and getting the 12 - 13yo girls to rub against you and flirt with you, or the vice versa with the males. I'm not saying that you can't cosplay those characters, what I'm saying is that you should be able to tell if those people will be at the con you're going to, before you decide who you'll cosplay.
Ashley McGuire That's not surprising, considering that he recently got booted from the TooManyGames convention for kissing and touching congoers inappropriately. But not before throwing a tantrum and curling up in a ball on the floor. Some people just don't deserve to be out in public, let alone cons.
anime convention crowd is filled with a lot of socially awkward people anyway people that only feel comfortable when they dress up in Cosplay because psychologically they feel like it's not them cuz they are in somewhat the character.... So someone coming up and hitting on you because they're attracted to you would come off as creepy to someone who is socially awkward anyway because they don't know how to deal with people on a general day-to-day basis...lots of soy boys and Neo feminist
Sometimes guys with no social skills or experience with girls are so desperate they disregard the consequences. Some can’t cope with not being wanting and either blame others for their actions or are so arrogant that they think their crude net they’re casting will eventually catch something. And it’s disgusting that he would use a mental disorder as an excuse, if he even has one.
I felt sorry this happen to u in cons I been taken photo with out permission twice in a row it’s creepy me out anime sfu is the worst convention in fuckin Canada it’s a short story they all creep me out in anime sfu

XD damn
Ironic Kid
that happened to me but as Levi different con though. I just told them that I was a girl and they just started at me and left
Ironic Kid That's happened to me before, as Tavros of all people.
My first ever cosplay was Ciel Phantomhive, I was like 13 and there were these girls who came up to me and kept petting my head;;; I was like ((((;゜Д゜)))!!!!
Ironic Kid About to go to con this Friday alone as Dirk and guess who's spending their time watching con horror stories 👌🏻
This happens way more often than my friends and I would like, so our group has a codeword (won't say for safety's sake) so we can just call and integrate the codeword in and (I've had people use it three times) protocol is I ask where you are, give you an excuse to leave your situation and head immediately there to come get you. This is a really good idea !
Thx for this information, this is gonna really help in the future
I really don't understand people sometimes. Good on you Lily, for handling it so well.
This is why I don't usually go to anime conventions. They are a different experience than mainstream cons and science fiction cons. You're more likely to find edgy, strange, and creepy crowd at Anime Cons.

Yeah, that “I have a mental health issue, and I can’t control it” card never works. I don’t know why people keep trying.

Catpig Ohmygosh that's horrible. I'm so sorry
Hope you guys enjoy the story! Major thank you to Royal Lily for telling her story for all you guys to hear! Enjoy!
The cosplayer with the sign in the first few seconds is a creeper, I really don't have any good experiences with him. We got him banned from the Rosemont Hyatt conventions but keeps coming back.
Oliver Grey the Tobi cosplayer?
Dude tell us why
@GordoScarface i'm pretty sure the sign says "good boy" i'm not sure tho

Oh my goodness! I'm glad nothing bad happened to her cause that's so creepy! I swear creeps need to to stop! Great video!
And yeah creepers like these just make me want to scream "STOP BEING STEREOTYPICAL!" SpookyRoseV well when your walking around another's personal sexual fantasy is bound to happen lol. Think twice before letting strangers getting photos or selfish with yourself they will grab most of the time lol.
I love story times
Me too!
Im sorry I understand the situation going on at 9:20 but the dance off going on in the background is just too amazing rn I need to focus on it
Oh my god there's a train 😂😂
These are the best videos on here lol
Thanks haha!
I have a horror con story, like its just fucking creepy and it was to the point where I almost stopped going to cons in general.
Send it to acrstories@yahoo.com
Geez, I'm gonna be going to my first con hoooopefully soon and something like this kind of unnerves me, but then again I pray someone doesn't want to hit on a teen if their cosplaying as a tired, probably 30 year old depressed man.

I’m from MI what con is it? I want to go to one but I’m nervous to go to the wrong one
You didn't block his number by now? Really? That's all I have to ask.
Hahaha there was like, 5 Akatsuki cosplayers in just the beginning
YAY! I missed these!
I also think it's GoDaikocon based on my experienced there before i quit giving it a chance.
Could be j-fax
I have Aspergers Syndrome and I respect people. I am not a creeper.
I went to this con and so many of the panels we went to were late or cancelled ?!!? I still had so much fun and the people were so nice!! One of the panels people who were waiting just ended up making our own panel lol and it was so funny and fun. It was a bit of a mess though.
Easiest way to get a date: "Hey, I work at this con. Give me your name and number."
This convention sounds like a trap.🤣 Good thing I live in Texas
Wow, that's some crazy stuff
This is actually one of the reasons I stop helping my friend because he was very unorganized and his ideas were all over the place
I want to go to a convention as junko enoshima and she has a short skirt and it will be uncomfortable trying to cover myself and also explain to people I'm a boy

OR people could learn their manners and human decency and people can cosplay whomever they like and not worry about people harassing them.
Shit I'm going as 707 from Mystic Messenger hopefully that won't cause me problems lol
Why adjust for creepers
Just report them to the officers at the con
I love Convention Story Times! :3 I would love to be on here but, I probably need to post more videos! XD
Yayyyyy story time
Creepers gonna creep..
Well...that escalated quickly
This guy sounds a lot like Chris Chan.................
Ashley McGuire That's not surprising, considering that he recently got booted from the TooManyGames convention for kissing and touching congoers inappropriately. are you going to colossal con this year
Are you going to anima Milwaukee?
I am not
That sucks😔
this is a story similar to mine
i once farted into a dorito bag
and zip locked it
Nice vid.
So many creeps at these events, try talking sense into them first. If that don’t work, contact staff and security.
I hope nothing bad happens when i go to anime expo this year (im 14)
anime convention crowd is filled with a lot of socially awkward people anyway people that only feel comfortable when they dress up in Cosplay because psychologically they feel like it's not them cuz they are in somewhat the character.... He had better not have had Aspergers Syndrome.
