I quit using patches 3 weeks ago. I had no idea I could have used gum as well. Instead, I pushed through the urge. I’m very moody, it’s so comforting to know that should end in about a week for me.Very encouraging - thank you.

I quit using nicotine patches only for 3 days then I ran out and didn't replace them but survived the day without trauma, and since that day in April 1995 and today (26.02.2023), *I HAVE NEVER SMOKED SINCE* and although I get _occasional_ cravings they rapidly pass - weird 👽

In my experience and also that of family members, using Nicotine gum simply changed the addiction from cigarettes to the gum. Same thing with vaping nicotine instead of smoking. IMO, in order to truly stop the addiction, all nicotine must be stopped in all forms.

has a 3% chance and unless you have an easy mode life, which so many of us don't (the exact opposite in fact) then you'll fail because of the added stress. Stress management is the most important part, people literally only smoke to feel good and if they feel good without it they will quit.

Very nice. I'll tell you, it is killing me. A 64 yo male I've become too much of a regular with the vascular surgery team. Stents, pop-bypass, another angioplasty next week. Toes all screwed up. And then yesterday my cardiologist informed me a recent echo had shown some possible blockage in my heart so they want to go in and explore. I had some success a few years ago with a simple hypnosis tape that I repeated 2x daily for 21 days and then I was free of the BS for about 3 months. I slipped just once and WHAM! It had me again. This time I am trying a similar strategy by finding presentations like this to watch on a daily basis for reinforcement. My doc pushes the patches & gum which she has given me before but I didn't use. I'm afraid I'll cheat with the patches and the gum could never stick with though the lozenges sound like a possibility. I'll keep at it though. Wonderful presentation, I'll make this my primary hypnosis tool. Lol. Thanks

Thank you for the video. It is one of the most useful videos on quitting smoking out there.
I am writing this 4 weeks after quitting smoking. In my case, there were 2 acute withdrawal days followed by another 5 anxiety dominated days and that is about it.
I quit cold turkey... I am so happy I managed to see a video that talked about quitting smoking and anxiety beforehand so that I could rationalize my fears and make them go away. Had I not been informed I would have probably started smoking again.
I was watching this movie hoping to get some tips about how to keep away from relapsing.
Yesterday was my first extremely stressful day at work, and that got me really close to smoking again...
Only the nice words of my wife kept me away from smoking a cigarette.

The issue i'm facing is that these 4 smokes are hardest to leave. Can you please tell me the qty of cigarettes you were smoking before going cold turkey? Biggest mistake I ever made, was to quit smoking. I gained 140 pounds. I struggled with diet and exercise but I could not stop the weight from coming on. I went from a slim 135 pounds all the way up to a pot belly 275. That's right, I more than doubled my former body weight. My waist went from a 32 to a 50. I got kicked out of the navy for being obese and I lost my valuable retirement benefits, if I could have stayed in. I developed severe sleep apnea and I'm a borderline diabetic. Had I known I was going to get fat like this, you best believe, I'd have never quit smoking. I'd take the health hazards anytime, compared to the rest of my life, being big and fat

I started smoking when I was 9. I quit when I was 47. I know how hard it is. It took an ugly act of god to force me to quit. I had tobacco induced bronchitis. It was so bad I could not breathe and it nearly killed me. I started to chew the gum and the doctor gave me some antibiotics. The doctor told me that in about three days something disgusting was about to happen to me. I started coughing up this ugly black tar. The tar would come out of my lungs and then seep down into my stomach. This mixed with the acid in my stomach and I absolutely exploded with a mixture of infectious tar and stomach bile. I puked my guts out for three days! It was really easy to quit after that. That taste is indescribable. You can do it. Do it any way you can. Don't be an idiot like me and quit the "easy" way. Good luck!
