I've been to his grave in Indiana twice. Once in October 1996 and again in June 2007. I spoke with an elderly woman in Fairmount, Indiana at The James Dean Museum there. She was a classmate of his from the late 1940s. Very sweet Lady. She remembered him riding his bike to school everyday and playing basketball. His motorcycle was there in the museum.
Rebel without a cause, East of Eden & Giant....3 movies with such an impact on American Cinema, It hurts 2 realize that he was the best actor of our generation & Brando was up there among the 2 greatest..It is mind blowing what DEAN woyld of accomplished in his lifetime...My apartment is full of lithographs of him,never gonna let them go!
So beautiful and poignant. Very effective the way the music and scenes start off soft and romantic then they increase in tempo. Great syncing of the music at the climax crash scene. Finally the music becomes melancholy again and we see the haunting and lovely eyes of James Dean. Simply outstanding.
The only thing I have to say is why God why!!!! He was so gifted. He was 24 when he passed he he was beyond being a great actor he was a great acting artist and dare I say genius yes he was surely that too. His artistic creative depth of soul was other worldly to be able touch those creative chords with his spirit was mind boggling he was just getting started! Imagine the continued great artist work he would have brought the world he he lived. That Mr. James Byron Dean for sharing your great artistic talent you shared with people of the world why you were with us!!!!!! The speeding ticket was misreported and exaggerated, because Dean was fined for going just 5 mph over the speed limit. Dean had the right of way, so he was innocent. It was that other guy faul I really dont know what he was thinking about ,where he was looking that he didnt see James car,as it called he didnt pay attention to driving simple

Isn’t it funny. With all of the struggles and let downs that we face in life as well as the tragedies that make us wonder why does this happen. When we see greatness in an instant all of that goes right out the window. And for those few moments we are enthralled with the joy of living.
We are VERY lucky that movies are being digitally preserved and restored in extremely high definition because otherwise, James Dean’s films would be fading away. It’s impossible to preserve analog film perfectly because all film degrades over time, and copying it onto new film stock means losing some of the original image. Modern high-resolution digital is a VERY high quality reproduction of film, so, whatever images and sounds we have now will be available hundreds of years from now. Also, software is getting better at restoring degraded images by compensating for how film ages and attempting to reverse those changes, so, in the near future, we may be able to see “Giant”, “Rebel Without a Cause” and “East of Eden” in a way that is virtually indistinguishable from high quality prints people saw in theaters in the fifties. As computers become faster, this allows studios and individuals to preserve more films. So, it’s just something to feel good about when there is a lot of scary stuff going on.
