    As a Packer fan, I’m so glad Dallas was up for it and that they were such a great team. A victory is only as special as the team you beat. It was also the end for our dynasty, the curtain call and what a memory it is. Something like this can’t ever happen again. Once in a lifetime sort of thing... and maybe it’s better that way.

    Ray Scott’s call is a partial recreation of his original call. Jack Buck actually called the second half for CBS. The reason they split the duty is because in those days, announcers for CBS were assigned to specific teams (Scott for the Packers and Buck for the Cowboys, for example). CBS abandoned that practice beginning in 1968.

    At the time, TV was prohibited from broadcasting NFL games within a certain radius of the game. I forget how many miles, but my hometown was just 90 miles away and I had to listen on the radio. I recall being more relieved than jubilant when Bart scored. A friend of mine was at the game and actually got a piece of a goal post.

    • @gregford2103
      @gregford2103 8 місяців тому

      I think the radius was 100 miles, because in 1968 my family lived in Stamford, CT, and we could not watch the Raiders-Jets AFL title game, which took place in NYC.

    This was the last NFL Films assignment for Ray Scott, who passed away about a year after this was produced.

    As a Minnesotan, I have to say that the Lombardi years Packers were the greatest team ever for me. This '67 team was beyond legendary. I remembered the sadness I felt after the Super Bowl when we knew Vince was going to stop being coach.

    Only Lombardi could have recognized Chuck marcines value for a game like this . Chuck was a intelligent tougher then nails hustle guy , he did a little bit of everything in that game total team player. Players like that will always win the tough championship games in the elements against weak minded talent. Dallas put way to much attention on formations , shifts and smoke screens and mirrors then good old fashioned hard nosed football , that is why they lost a lot big games during that time.

    • @garyt7830
      @garyt7830 4 роки тому +2

      You have to understand Chuck waa born in Milwaukee, and a cast off from the Giants. So Vince picked him up . He was one of my Institutional contacts from Wedbush Morgan. Humble guy, jus happy that Vince picked him to be his full back. That Pass in the left flat from the 30 down to to the 11 set up the go ahead score.

    What does that tell you about the kind of coach Vince Lombardi was? No Hornung. No Taylor. Their new starting backfield injured in consecutive series. And they still won a Third Consecutive NFL Championship!! The greatest coach that ever blew a whistle, or viewed game film. The Packers simply " Refused to lose."

    Boy had starr and that offense not put out that 14-0 lead Dallas would have won that game going away it took the cowboys a bit longer to adjust to the bitter cold. The packers were simply mentally tougher and smarter then Dallas. Look at Chuck marcine , Harvard educated and Lombardi tough.
