Its like if you took a bunch of Special Forces sergeants/squad leaders and made them into a single squad
Came back to this comment randomly and its at 69, neat
That is what special forces teams already are. You can only be an NCO or officer in SF, even if you go through selection as a specialist you will get promoted to E-5 before getting to regiment
That’s pretty much what the SAS is. They take NCOs and officers, demote them to privates, and retrain them
@@enclavesoldier769 that depends on unit

How? It was amateurish. Alone how they got boxxed in... and didn't used their special gear to break out (flamer.... rockets.... jet packs....)
@@One_E it was sooooo silly.
This scene is exactly how to tell the audience why the Empire was so afraid of the Mandalorians uniting again. The Mandalorians in legends almost conquered the Republic three times before they were finally put down. They had to hide the mask of Mandalor in the middle of fuckin nowhere just to stop them from doing it again. In canon I’m looking forward to more of this.
Bevuase they are trapped easily and don't make use of their special gear!?!??!
Personally I wanted to see how the Empire toppled over Bo Katan’s illegal regime
I think the way andor achieved this is because literally every character besides andor himself was brand new and given just enough screen time for us to like them but still lack plot armor, in addition to the way everyone dove for cover the moment the blasters came out of holsters, very good writing
This is what I like about Rogue One, which makes sense because Andor is a Rogue One spinoff with much of the same production crew.
I wonder if they got alot of grief over the scooter cooters in Book of Boba Fetts and made this look like it was done (or at least choreographed) by someone with close quarter combat training
Scooter cooters lmfao

A single mandalorian is a cowboy but a group is a militia
A militia? That's a downgrade
More like a squad of legionnaires
Seal team, delta force, pararescue all in one. Militia, not so much, but I get the point.
@@undeadmonkey9122 All of them pussies compared to their less regulated, more insane ancestor. MACV-SOG.
A group of Mandalorians is basically the Starwars equivalent of a SpecOps unit.
It feels like they actually consulted somewhat with military personnel for this scene. Obviously there are some issues with taking cover and proper spacing, but you can’t expect a show meant to entertain to be 100% accurate. It felt kind of like the combat drills I used to run with my old squad.
maybe with the taking cover thing it’s kinda meant to be explained bc their armor is impervious to most small arms fire? so they’re able to get a better angle/shot knowing their armor can shrug it off
@@swordfish1248 that's something I also liked about this episode. They were cautious but still didn't take lots of cover because of their very strong armour. Until one guy takes a canon shot to the chest (and probably dies). Then they start being a bit more careful.
@@swordfish1248 True, though wearing body armor doesn’t guarantee you won’t still be hurt by the impact. For example, if you get shot while wearing a bullet proof vest, you’re still likely to be badly bruised, or have some cracked ribs. Idk, I have a soldier’s mindset, so I’m probably just overthinking things 😂
@@maestrofeli4259until the Armorer comes along and proves once again she is a master with a hammer and tongs. And she is possibly the stealthiest Mandalorian with a shiny ass golden helm. I mean even her kills are quiet somehow. I wonder if her with a blaster would make the fight more or less fair
@@maestrofeli4259 yh you see the body in the background either the force of the blast knocked them out or it killed them
This was definitely choreographed by either current or ex military which makes it look real. Problem is, as a result, they don’t use the 3D tactics that would come from having jetpacks. Modern military’s don’t have jetpacks so we don’t have military tactics to use them in current forces. The Mando’s would.
Things like sending two of them to the roofs on either side of the alleyway, dropping one off from above when they got pinned down, quickly retreating only to come in from an entirely different direction.
None of these were used because modern military personnel can’t do such things. Love the realism but remember that it ISN’T real life so you have access to situations that wouldn’t occur on Earth.
yeah, it surprised me that they didn't use jetpacks mid fight at least a couple of times. As you said, go up to a roof to get a different angle, quickly fly over to flank an enemy, simply using it to dodge, those would have been cool to see but as you said, they didn't take it into account. It was a good firefight anyway.
@@maestrofeli4259 it was. There is something to be said with bringing realism into a science fantasy setting. It just looks good. Even if they didn’t make that little bit of a change
Audible Cries in air assault:
I probably wouldn't use them from the ground mid fight as there is no cover in midair when they know where you are but I wouldn't have stayed on the ground at all. I would have probably had them move roof to roof only going to street level when ambushing. But then again, I would have also taken the ship with a landing party to cut off air* support and try to force the ground to surrender.
That's Jon's writing for us.
“Nothing is more dangerous than a mandalorian team on the hunt. Pray that you never encounter one”

This why mandalorains feared they are basically walking tanks that are a lot more smaller.
We need a Ghost Recon-esque game where we play as either a mando squad or a clone squad like the bad batch.
Republic Commando
@@harryjohnson9215 well sure but I meant like a newer one. With modern tech and graphics.
I would be extremely happy if they did that- rock a unit of 4 people, have an extremely high pressure objective you need to complete while having the player use the stage as their own tactical playground.
@@combobreaker449 that would be awesome. I’m one of the unpopular opinion that enjoyed the open world games so maybe if they did like a few decently large maps on a few different planets, that could be pretty cool if done right.
A turn based strategy game with a squad of republic commandos sounds like fun
Love the episodes so far. Although i don't understand why haven't they just used their jetpacks, but that's me 😅
Probably because it’s less entertaining to watch. Also, it would make them huge targets
Basically having them on the open with no cover. In the clone wars they used their jet packs to move from one cover to another, but it was in an open space. Here you can see them in a tight street so theres no point in using their jet packs. And they can only fire the rocket on their jet pack once so they try to conserve it as much as possible.
What do you call a soldier who leaves the ground? Skeet.
@@Gilleban a rocket jumping soldier.
Flying is probably the only time the high ground isn’t the advantage
If there’s been one upside to the interminable wait for Season 3 to released, it’s that all of the battle scenes, whether military assault teams, in-air or space dogfights, or CGI beasts…have all looked spectacular. You can definitely see the money Disney/Lucasfilm spent on this season, right up there on the screen.
I love the battle IQ of acknowledging the thjng in the tree that warned them of enemies ahead. Although i Don't get why when they're surrounded and pinned by a hkgh ground turret, they Don't judt shoot a jetpack rocket at the turret, or just jetpack out of the surrouned kill zone.
Better to keep the turret distracted with you and wait for backup to take care of it while you have cover,
Than to find out how good a guy, with a Turret, may be at Skeet shooting while you try to fly away. Mobile yeah but best used with element of surprise.
A space age special forces unit . Oorah !
The Republic Commandos novels did a great job at characterizing the Mandalorians, I think Mandalorian follows in its footsteps. Mandos are raised on survival, combat, struggle, pain, pushed to their limits. At the very least, they can hold their own. At the very best, some Mandalorians could take on anyone in the galaxy - even Jedi. They're basically built for this
Just wish some/a lot of Karen Traviss' Mando'a was used
I absolutely loved how the monkey lizard thing warned the Mandalorians about the pirates ahead was cool
Yeah. Those jerk pirates shot us. Go get em guys. It was great and I lol. 😜😜
This was the best siege so far i've watched
This wasn’t a siege
really adds more depth to the lore of republic commandos being trained by mando trainers almost exclusively. I hope that gets explored at some point
I love the monkey thing telling them that there’s an ambush because the pirates shot at them. Great and funny touch
This was one of the best choreographed live action fight I'm star wars.
I too loved how they were basically elite Special Forces in that episode.
I would love to see Mandalorians operate like that more
I really liked that they were in four-person teams at first, making them similar to Republic Commando squads
Is no one going to talk about that one dude surfing one of those snubfighters?
"I was here when it it happened.."
That line hits different with this comparison lol
This scene made me want some sort of COD style game for Mandalorians
"yeah let's just sit in front of this heavy gun instead of using our jetpacks to outmaneuver"
I hate how they make every other character look weak or stupid just to show off how skilled/intelligent whatever character they're showing off is. It's just lazy writing and ends up contradicting alot of established character development/lore.
Except they did and it didnt end well? One guy tried and immediately got shot? Like why do Star Wars fans have to be so Nit Picky, you guys literally take the tiniest flaws and blow them up as if they ruin an entire scene.
Using the jetpack would mean leaving cover. Sure that gun is slow firing but it would manage to take out a lot more Mandos then if they just stayed in cover. And that is ignoring the fact that the pirates were using suppressing fire
@@bastik.3011 I didn't see that happen. If he did then clearly he wasn't doing a good job. I'm not nitpicking so much as I'm downplaying the hype of the "super tactical elite soldiers"

Among the Mandalorian season 3, the Mando's liberation of Nevarro was the best scene I've enjoyed so far. I'm talking about military combat formation, etc.
Watching the mandos execute those pirates was cold af
I wish they would have left that execution when the landed on screen for just like .4 of a second longer, would have really rammed home how ruthless they are in combat. Just felt like it was just slightly too fast of quick cut. especially when we had things in like the door being used to bisect that guy in the first scene of season 1. Seems like they're losing the "dangerous killers" vibe in place for "badass heros" which kinda set them apart from being just another force like the republic and the empire.
You're the man with a wise eye Thanx Alsn
I would love to see a series based on the mandalorian War. Mass amounts of Jedi vs. mass mandalorians would be amazing if done properly.
Traditionally, rank doesn't exist in mandalorian military. Whoever is the leader leads, whoever is the follower follows. The one above all is Mandalore. Beneath him is only those who know best how to move armies and soldiers. Ergo, rank is not respected, capability is all that matters.
This also prevents people who are actually bad at leading, from being in a position of leadership. Thus, it is not only the strongest who lead, but also those who remain unchallenged. And to keep them from loosing their edge should someone challenge their leadership.
I love this explanation of the Mandalorian’s because they live by a warrior code but when it comes to fighting they ack like a military unit
If Rogue One was Starwars Vietnam, This EP was Starwars Modern Warfare
I can’t wait for star wars Afghanistan.
Me watching this episode had me like “This is hella badass this what I been waiting for”
They did cover actual sectors of fire and were somewhat spaced out but they also stood out in the open a whole lot. Better than most we've seen though
That mandalorian in blue armor and with kama is one of the most badass looking mandalorian i have ever seen
Bruh, Paz freaking Vizsla dropping in and dumping rounds had me hyped.
This is one of the best scenes in the season.
I didn't think they were as effective as they could have been. They have jetpacks, they could have stationed units on building tops for supporting fired. Instead they allowed themselves to get boxed into narrow streets. They misused their specialty weapons and allowed themselves to get pinned down. They each carry missiles on their back and some have wrist mounted missiles, they could have used them against the heavy weapon emplacement with realitive ease and more importantly speed. After the heavy weapon is taken out you immediately see another Mandalorian use their wrist rocket to take out two random pirates in a market stall. Why waste the rocket there?
Dont get me wrong this is great tactical combat for any Star Wars battle. After all in BOBF we see a small team lead by two bounty hunters absolutely abandon any sense of tactical organisation. Or in Attack of the Clones we see Jedi leading clones in essentially parade formation to run into combat against a wave of Droid tanks. It was like watching Iran's invasion of Iraq. I refuse to watch Andor for my own reasons. Star Wars battles typically involve fireworks levels of covering fire that isn't hitting anything so it was nice to see decent combat precision (everyone's accuracy drops in combat, average for most shooters is about 20%).
This episode made realize that while modern warfare still doesn't have spacecraft that could readily fly between worlds, in an atmosphere fight, we could easily take out any military in Star Wars. Any modern fighter has a much more advanced combat information system and combined with long range missiles and stealth, could easily take out any of the craft shown on the episode. Taking out the trawler or whatever the large ship was, would have been a bit more difficult but still possible. Meanwhile a company or even just a platoon of Marines or army could readily take out the pirates, or hold a position against these Mandalorians and their tactics, though if they were expecting an attack they could lay down more defenses.
Also, maybe I'm not interpreting things correctly, but I assumed the covert had grown by recruiting new Mandalorians to the way. Mandalorian is a culture group, not a genealogy, they can find members anywhere. It's what made Mandalorian crusades so threatening. As they took over world they'd force people into slavery and some would even voluntarily join the Mandalorians. They could essentially replenish their front line as they went.
I think the point of the battle of geonosis was to show that the jedi "generals" were terrible at commanding armies.
And I think you are correct about that last thing, at least partially. I'm pretty sure the children of the watch grew by recruiting other mandalorians and making them follow "the way"
Yes exactly! They’re like Star Wars special forces. All of them are quite competent on their own, but they also work seamlessly as a team. We saw a bit of this in s2 with Bo and her squad mates, but this was the first time we saw it on a grand scale. Bo needn’t have worried. We saw them training in ep4, I bet they regularly do group battle simulations and field exercises and all the rest of it like a real military.
Mando has been a space cowboy show with elements of American civil war type combat.
They looked like special forces the way they moved. One guy even lowered his blaster as another mandalorian went infront of him, something a lot of special forces do so they don't have their gun pointed at a friendly.
The man the Mandalorians are basically the Marines if they had a planet and a religion
This is the way!
I always love the Sheriff in Freetown, dude got the blaster that looks like a revolver
My first thought seeing that scene was that they definitely hired someone with military training to choreograph that scene for them. It wasn't anything too tacticool, however it was more than I expected it to be.
Watching the mandalorians fight as group is like watching SAS recruits fighting as a unit
Yeah that Mandalorian ground force scene was so good, it honestly felt like what the Halo show was supposed to feel like
I love this episode. I think its tied with ep 6 of s2 and first 3 episodes being 10/10
Don’t know why but the blaster sounds just hit different in that scene
Can't forget their litteral plot armour
Loved both!! Andor felt dangerous and high pressure, the Mandalorian felt like watching an experienced military unit drop in on some airsoft players!!
I loved the Kowakian Monkey lizard warning them of the ambush.
Well these specific actors are part of the "501st: Vader's Fist" reenactment group. They literally LIVE for this stuff. Everything you see on the screen: that's THEIR gear.
the mandalorian feels more like a western when it's just mando on his own. Moments like the fight on Nevarro highlight that mandalorian culture reveres both weaponry and war.
I was praying for a Mando sniper and spotter team being dispatched as overwatch prior to the dropping of the commandos. would have been awesome to see effective sniping.
Your first comment on The Mandalorian, it's actually intentional because the show is meant to be a space western. Even now it still kinda is, in western movies the main character would do stuff on his own but then would call for help to fight large bandit groups. Then they would take on to be the head of the town and etc. . I agree about your comment on Andor, in Star Wars universe people usually just stand out in the open and shoot carelessly, which is just like what, are you not worried about your life??
It explains how the mandalorians took over half the universe in Old Republic legends, love how they land and methodically conquer.
While watching this scene all I could think was: "I feel like I'm watching a CSGO match"
I like how those tree monkey aliens were warning them of the pirates bc they were shot by them earlier.
Each blaster bolt felt dangerous because on average, one was shot every 40 mins. 3 good episodes doesn’t redeem 9 ranting ones.
Also in Andor it feels Like the individual is threatened, they are fighting as a unit, the "scary" Thing in the mandalorian is only If the unit falls.
Yes soooo tactical you really know your stuff
This was by far the best firefight in the mandalorian, up until this point you had just been told they were a forced to be reckon with but never really shown why. The way they operated as a SF is cool af
I personally like the most recent firefight on mandalore with the imperials because it showed that beskar will eventually fail like real ballistic armors
Squad team 💪🏽
Gotta love that they included an AK
That was literally my exact thinking bro I’m like these guys the seal team six of Star Wars dawg 😂
As a Marine infantryman, that episode impressed me quite a bit. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was definitely pretty solid.
The one thing that really pissed me off about that fight was the lack of vertically. Half the time Im sitting there thinking "Damn, if only you had a tool to get you quickly and safetly out of that kill zone"
By far the best tactics used in any StarWars thus far, as far as small unit tactics go. I loved it!
These tactics make sense for soldiers today, or stormtroopers. But the Mandalorians are famed for deploying a wide variety of tactics in battle, using all manner of movement, so many types of gadgets and weapons to gain the upper hand. Yet somehow I'm supposed to believe they got surrounded and needed backup from a single man with the only unique weapon out of all the combatants. Why did they all have the same shitty blaster? Why didn't they use their jetpacks? It just seems like all the mandolorians who aren't named are only there to make the main characters look cool. To me that's lazy writing, definitely not the best use of tactics.
@@The.Usurper well they are all basically homeless having recently moved from the sewers to a random ass cave. You can’t expect them all to have the best equipment. And what we’re they supposed to do with their jetpacks? Become clay pigeons?
Agreed 👍🏿
The man who wears the blue and silver armor with a trench coat is a mood for some reason
"In my book, experience outranks everything."
This is the Forever Red version of Mandalorians. Make a team that consists of people that are capable of leading a team under a more experienced team
Seemed like modern US infantry tactics vs the OT with ww2 esc tactics and prequels with a mix of 40s to 80s tactics
I think the best way I’ve described the Mandalorians to someone is “Ancient Spartans crossed with the French Foreign Legion”.
They're actually based on Sparta, Rome and Celts/Vikings.
This scene reminded me of the clones for a sec bro
It was like live action clone wars. It was sick boyz😂😂
I wonder if the marshal ever got out of that bacta tank 🤣
They had actual former Army SpecOp guys in those costumes and the other actors recieved Training in Military tactics.
The one frustrating part of the Mandalorian strike squad team was their lack of jetpack usage to tactically take better positions. It's great seeing more real world tactics being implemented into Star Wars but I feel there needs to be more creativity with how Mandalorians can assault objectives with their superior mobility.
I agree that they started good but they pretty much stayed on the ground and moved into a wide open space when the enemy had cover and superior position. They remained so static when they have jetpacks that make them highly mobile. Could have easily had a ground team drawing fire and pining the pirates down and another team getting on the roofs from the side to provide multiple lines of fire.
I'd like to have just one crossover battle where team Mando takes on Delta Squad from Republic Commando.
That's why the mandalorians are feared. Just one a hard to kill warrior.
Something people may not notice is that they don’t flag each other which is what anyone who has training w firearms in teams must do. There’s a scene where you can see one of them lower thier blaster to the ground when a teammate walks in front of them
My favourite part about Adoor is how they use AK-47s and not even change a little bit And then just put some energy blasts on it
The only difference between a warrior and a soldier is the stucture
Mandalorian warfare in the past is similar to titan pilots in titanfall they engage targets hard and fast using jetpacks to maneuver and flank enemies. But that was when they were numerous now they have to be careful a single mandalorian killed is worth a lot.
my only issue was the sound effects felt "light" during that scene, maybe quiet is the better word idk
I would love to see a Jedi action sequence directed in the style of Andor.
This was a really good scene, the only thing I'll be kind of nitpicky over is how the one mandalorian took their firing hand off of the weapon to give a hand signal...but I mean that's being very picky, and the overall content was pretty good
True
That's because the western bit was intentional for that episode. I think it's cool they pull from different genres. The old Star wars are no different in its reference to old style western references.
I wish fights or shootouts felt more like andor.
Beskar felt more like plot armor
