  • On Final Glide to Nephi, a glider encounters sink in the lee of Mount Tintic and must clear the hills to the west of the airport - Bruno-Vassel-Video-Aficionados will recognize the terrain and the airport of Nephi, Utah.
There was a moment of excitement when my actual glide ratio dropped below of what was required, and the hills ahead suddenly looked a lot taller than they did only a few seconds earlier. But I had a viable Plan B and Plan C at all times.
The glider is a high-performance Ventus 2cxT from Shempp-Hirth with a wing span of 18 meters. The flight was on June 30, 2020. The full flight trace is here: www.onlinecont.... The segment in the video is obviously only the very end of the flight.
