If they would produce it as more of a produced tv show (one hour) instead of a live event, basically showing highlights and discussing the strategy etc, it would be more entertaining.

The best way for me to catch a bunch of big slots is to fish an unders tournament. I was fishing a tournament with Mays one time and I tore up the slots, but I couldn't buy an under.

Do the Bassmaster Elite guys have to adhere to the slot limit for the tournament next week?

Two things on FFS and tournaments. One thing is BASS/MLF need to learn how to cover it for the viewer. Yes, staring at the back of an angler looking at his LS in the middle of the lake is about as boring as you can get (OTOH, so is watching an angler pitch a jig to 500 yards of buckbrush, as well). You put the foreground of the video as the FFS view and then in a small canton somewhere on the screen you put the angler explaining what he is seeing and what he is thinking. Milliken and several others have figured it out on their YT channels. Regardless of what it is (TV show, movie, book, fishing show, whatever), what makes it more exciting is NOT knowing what is going to happen next. Plain ole suspense. Pure and simple. If you're looking at the LS screen and the angler tells the viewer what he's seeing, then the viewer doesn't know whether the bass is going to just follow it, chase it and break off the attack or smash it. To me, that is worth watching. I posted the same thing on MDJ's YT the other day and he agreed.
As far as banning LS, I doubt that will happen. Too much coin involved. Most that I could see happening is maybe restricting the number of transducers that you can have or something of that nature. DC, with Wheeler, MDJ and another BPT pro just did an hour long live cast on that very subject a couple of nights ago.
Another thing (#2) that hasn't gotten addressed much at all (roughly analogous to the A-rig debate) is all this fishing for predominately pelagic fish is a relatively new phenomenon. Most can remember when the A-rig was the new thing and everybody was smacking them on it. Then some of the tournaments had a knee jerk reaction to it and banned its use in tournaments. Well, like with everything else, the fish attenuated to it and the A-rig is just another tool in the arsenal. As more and more people start pressuring these pelagic fish with a ball head jig and a shad imitation on the hook, the same thing will happen there as well. As soon as most every boat on a lake is in the middle of it, then you'll see the trend reverse and everybody will start beating the banks again. Just from the electronic technology standpoint, think back to 2019 win Bryan Thrift won the FLW Cup back in 2019. Back then (which hadn't been that long ago), it was the 360 that was going to doom tournament fishing and take all the skill out of it. Don't get me wrong, if I'm in a situation where a 360 can make the big difference, I would want to know what Thrift knows because he is the wizard with a 360. He ain't winning every tournament though. It became "just another tool", just like LS will.
Take Wheeler just today at Santee. He won it fishing with a ball head jig with a minnow and his active target fishing offshore, BUT I think he'd won a few million before active target was ever a deal. For the Wheel today, as much as it was AT (which almost everyone in field has some flavor of it), I'd bet it was his knowing today to stay offshore, find some flats with the hardest bottom around, very isolated cover, and make that bait hug the bottom because he felt the bass would be stuck to it, that was at least AS important as having his Active Target to winning today. JMO.
