A lot of research has gone into assessing and guaranteeing the quality of our food and water. However, air quality is just as important, if not more so. In fact, the average American eats 4 pounds of food each day, drinks 8 pounds of water, yet breathes 30 pounds of air. Indoor air quality deserves its own focus.

Every home or business thermostat should include an Air Quality Sensor and provide a reading along with the temperature.
We need to know what the air quality is and it has to be easy to find out.
People have moved away from carpeting all rooms in a house. The off gassing of chemicals from carpets is over whelming.
People talk about the new car smell. That smell is off gassing of chemicals in the plastics, carpets and seats,
Breathing these chemicals is dangerous to your health. Every new piece of furniture, rug, carpet, bed sheets, paint and furniture has to off gas the chemicals they were produced with. I had to leave the windows open in my bedroom for weeks after getting new carpet for the room. When I bought a new car I parked in the garage with the windows open for weeks to let the fumes dissipate. We are slowly poisoning ourselves and the environment we live in.

This is a tough subject. I've found it's hard enough to find someone to do a proper home energy audit, not an insulation company that offers a "free audit" as an excuse to sell their real product, but a proper company that only does energy audits and doesn't have some other angle. Air quality is a whole other issue I can't find any help with.
I've been monitoring air quality in my own home for a while. The biggest issue I have is CO2 levels. The best I can seem to do it open up doors/windows to bring levels down, but in very hot and very cold temps that's not always a great solution. I think I had seen some solutions online for heating/AC air handlers that have a kind of air exchanger to help, but there doesn't seem to be anyone around know knows about them to install them, or have any other solutions.

Aside from monitoring particulate matter, VOCs, etc., radon is a huge issue that is rarely tested/mitigated.
Inspectors and builders simply don't care about this stuff because these things require knowledge, time, and money to deal with. The customer is usually ignorant as well.

I know the air quality in my house is terrible!! If you shine a flashlight, you'll see tiny particles floating everywhere. I imagine a lot of it is mold spores.
I cant get anyone living here to understand how toxic this environment is. Nobody else will use a vacuum. My brother doesn't clean anything whatsoever. I can't even begin to put a dent in getting anything clean bc I'm bedridden 95% of the time. I'm convinced I'm suffering from Chronic inflammatory response syndrome, which is a debilitating illness caused by mold exposure and a genotype that causes the immune system not to recognize and rid the body of biotoxins. I haven't been able to find a Dr who'll order the appropriate tests to diagnose it, but the fact everything else has been ruled out, only goes to further demonstrate CIRS is most likely the issue.

I bought a HVAC filter and taped it to a box fan. Help clear the air well.

It’s just a “average”, but I would encourage everyone to try it out. If you have a scale, you can weigh your food before eating. Try it over a couple days and see!

something else to add to the dependency list to keep homeowners on the hook for future sales. Sort of like the air fresheners that only take one kind of cartridge, resale dependency.

I definitely need some guidance on indoor air quality testing. What it is, who does it, what to ask, etc. We had our furnace replaced last fall as it was time and want to know if our air quality needs assistance.
We have tested for radon twice with good results each time. Furnace replaced since the testing.

Need to stop using the filler phase, "YOU KNOW". Dead air time is not as bad as filling it with, YOU KNOW.
