    東甲百年老廟 繭雲宮 Tangkak Centennial Temple
    Cultural Garden (1)
    It was designed and built by a group of locals in 2019. The antique entrance and bulletin board was designed by Hiew Kim Wah using the old wooden boards from the temple. It is used to promote the major festivals and traditions of the local Chinese community.
    The Octagon Pond (2)
    It was created and sculptured by a Tangkak artist named Chan Ching Tun. The five dragon sculptures with different colors, each represents elements such as earth, metal, water, wood and fire. The octagon pond represents the ability of reaching all directions while the water represents wealth, implying a cornucopia of tightening wealth. The carps and tortoises bred in the pond, along with a rotating dragon ball with the Yin Yang marking at the center of the pond combine together to provide blessings and longevity.
    Wishing Tree (3)
    It has got its name since it is where worshipers toss their wishes onto its branches. Make a wish or pray to Jingzhu Gong with a sincere heart, write your wishes on the ribbons, then throw the ribbons onto the tree. May all your wishes come true!
    Jingzhu Gong (4)
    In the eighth year of Emperor Kangxi’s rule during the Qing Dynasty, the empress had a dystocia while giving birth. Later, Jingzhu Gong used a sachet to rub the empress’s belly to ease her labor, so that the crown prince was born safely. The emperor was overjoyed and granted Jingzhu Gong the highest title a doctor could receive at the time, making him well known and respected in the kingdom.
    Ginger Mount (5)
    Based on ancient traditions, a giant pile of gingers along with some other delicacies are used as offerings to portray the high level of respect to this temple shows to the deities.
    Heritage Hall (6)
    It is used to store artifacts of this temple with a history of more than 100 years, as well as religious relics and living utensils preserved by the ancestors, so that the younger generation can understand the life of the ancestors. All cultural relics collected in the heritage hall shall not be taken out at will, so as to achieve the purpose of inheritance.
    Chiseling Rock (7)
    There is a chosen hard rock from Mount Ophir (Gunung Ledang) embedded in one of the walls of this temple. It provides the worshipers with the experience of hitting the rock with a metal chisel and hitting out sparks to generate holy flame.
    Souvenir Area (8)
    We cultivate and train the skills of young volunteers by selling souvenirs from old temples and local artworks. The goal is to promote local tourism and economic activities and cultivate new blood successors. The profits from the souvenir area will be used for maintain this temple and setting up local education funds for youngsters.
    Exhibition Corner (9)
    Turning an old stage into a spot for art workers to display their works in the efforts of enhancing cultural literacy. It also serves as a socializing platform for artists from all over the world.
    Culinary Exhibition (10)
    With the purpose of promoting the local cuisine, rent-free stalls are provided for those who donated food to those in need especially during times of an epidemic while promoting the specialties of their local home-cooked meals.
    Art Corner Alley (11)
    There is an enormous mural painted by many Tangkak artists. The mural measures ten feet high and about one hundred feet long, featuring various aspects like the yearly grand pilgrimage parades, body piercings, Eight Immortals, carrying sedan chairs, Tangkak old street, century-old shop and Chinese culture. There is also a small building painted as a bus from the 1960’s.
    Lights Photo Spot (12)
    Lanterns and flowers of various shapes and colors are used to create a leisure paradise for the whole family to take pictures and enjoy the night view. The advertising boards of Tangkak’s famous industries and time-honored stories are presented in the form of retro theater movie posters, allowing generations to be exposed with or to recall the past.
