- What is up all you Pokémon maniacs out there! PikiPikaPapa is here taking a look at some of the top Charizard cards out there in the market right now. Our objective here is to try and identify some graded and raw opportunities in the Charizard card space. These are the types of videos and data sets that I absolutely LOVE!!! Even though this is a bit of a rearview mirror look the trends and cards are incredibly relevant for us to be aware of!

unrelated to the video but man i really think the best long term investment product easily available right now is the brilliant stars pokémon center etbs. on the secondary market they’re 60$ WHILE STILL IN STOCK. i can’t physically believe that they’re still sitting there. plan on owning around 40 by the time i’m done so we’ll see how that works out🤞

I understand your argument for charizard braixen beating out charizard reshiram but the reason in my opinion is the demand for a braixen charizard is just not there. Popularity plays a huge role in modern and vintage. I do understand weighing pop population but look at moonbreon. So many psa 10 but demand is high. Keep Popularity in mind is all I'm saying. Love your videos and passion my guy!!!❤
That’s a really good call out!! I thought it was interesting to see the popularity of CE and if that would be enough to carry Zard and a lesser Pokemon but to your point it seems like Poke popularity > set popularity. The entire XY era is amazing and not many were playing in that generation, hence the super low pop's. A huge winner for me was the Alakazam EX Full Art Secret from Hidden Fates, I grabbed several of them before the price spiked this year same with the Gardevoir Secret from Steam Siege. Think there are some nice Gengars too, Im a huge fan of the dark types like Dark Ghost Psychic

Yeah these charizards are sick, only thing i dislike about some of them is how many fakes there is out there, trying to navigate with facebook sales to figure out if they are real or not etc, just makes its very annoying for me atleast :)

You know in my entire sports card collecting life I never received a fake card… less then 2 years into Pokémon and I got a fake XY17 Charizard!! Now, I got it through ebay so I got a full refund but your point on the fakes is spot on!! I thought about doing a video on my experience to try and raise awareness and show everyone what I learned!! I will say I don’t let it deter me from buying though. EBay is really good about protecting its buyers so I feel using them is a simi safe way to go. Awesome call out man!!
@@PikaPikaPapa Yeah indeed i feel like those XY and evolution fakes are all over facebook atleast here in Denmark and on pictures etc i struggle to see the difference so i just try not to go for them, and if i do i do it thru ebay / shops were i know that i can get the money back / very low % risk for it to be fake
Love it but the one thing I will say about promos and their raw price vs their psa 10 price is that promos are are historically extremely hard to get a 10 in, even fresh from a box. The likelihood of buying a copy on the secondary market and getting a 10 is nearly impossible. I agree which a lot of your comparisons but I don’t think it’s fair to compare promos in raw vs psa10 price to cards from sets. I think the low pop graded promos will continue to rise, and so will ungraded but at a much lower rate, to be fair.
I think it’s a great call out!! I know I’ve personally sent a bunch of promos straight from box to PSA and haven’t had the best results. I would say though that in turn that should only add to the value of those promos in PSA 10 condition. One of my biggest take aways from this exercise was low pop PSA 10 promo Zards seem a little undervalued. I’ve been hunting SM60’s for the last week and have been really shocked at, to your point, the lack of quality available for sale. Man, I love doing this stuff lol always learning always growing!! I have a question bud. Im at the point of my journey where Im thinking about investing in a heavy hitter like M Charizard EX for example. How do I go about acquiring this card? All the listings are extremely over priced and the card is not up for auction in a psa 10. Ideally I would negociate with the seller but should I start the negotiation at 20% under its market value? 30% or 40%?
When starting a negotiation I normally start at 30% lower than an asking price to allow for a counter offer. Then throw another counter offer back & get the card for around 15%/20% asking. I find if I offer 40% my offer just gets ignored & if I offer 20% after some offers/counter offers I am lucky to get 5%/10% off. So 30% Is a fair starting negotiation price in my opinion so that everyone walks away from the deal happy ☺️💕
Great question!!!! For me there is no set % but I do start off with what I think is a fair offer and I ALWAYS have a set max price in mind. When I’m investing in a heavy hitter I’m doing so because I believe it’s a great long term buy and hold card therefore market value might be a fair deal. The heavier the hitter the rarer the card the closer I’m willing to and sometimes have to pay to market value. Some of my biggest single card purchases have been at fair market value and those have also resulted in some of my biggest returns. I’m not saying don’t negotiate or try and get the cards for below market value but remember most people who are selling big cards know what they have. If they are willing to go well below market it’s usually because that’s what they feel the card is really worth. I try to do most of my big deals at shows or in person. Then there is no selling/shipping/insurance costs to the seller so I can negotiate a better price. I also always bring some trade bait in case I can knock a few hundred off. I did a $2,500 cash $2,500 trade for a $5K Football card last year and my trade bait was all doubles in my collection from PSA subs. I was about $1K all in on the cards and got $2,500 in credit for them. Patience is also incredibly important when whale hunting. The card of your dreams at the price you want is out there you just have to be patient sometimes. In my last PSA return I had a FB card that I’d been waiting on for literally years. I finally found it raw on EBay for $7 sent it to PSA, came back a 10 and it’s now chilling in my PC. I know that’s a stupid long answer but pulling the trigger on a big card is a major commitment so I wanted to walk you all the way through how I approach it!! Hope you’re having an epic one my man!!

The sun n moon promo has a low pop because it’s a very vanilla card. Nothing special at all. The red GX is amazing.
Yeah that’s a good call out. We are always talking about the power of the art! I guess I just expected a low pop BLK Star promo of the king of em all to command a higher price. But this is a good learning and an awesome point!!
