    I grew up in this kind of community in central Philippines...back then catch are shared and given to neighbors. Now even seaweeds are for sale. Sad reality.

    Result of decades of dynamite and cyanide fishing. The rich financier and few fisherman who sold their souls are to blame. I know 10's of these island very well, I grew up there. Dynamite fishing did the most damage but nobody want to say something back then. There's a lot of fish so everyone and their grandmother was happy, including the local government officials.

    This does make me sad, a man that wants to provide for his family but has to combat the commercial machine just to survive. I have much respect for this man.

      So thats what u people call the Chinese, a commercial machine? 🙄(there's nothing commercial about them, commerce allows free trade including free fishing ) . They'd be the only commercial machine out there... 😳

    In the 60s and 70s, dynamite fishing was rampant. The fish that you would buy from the market would have busted internal organs clear sign of dynamite fishing. The town that was listed in having the biggest sale of fertilizer was Navotas, that would tell us that the dynamite fishing was being done by big fishing companies, not the small banca fishermen.

    This makes me sad, I grew up in a coastal area in the PH. Me and my family is fortunate enough to not fish just to live, but my uncles and aunts (most of our village for that matter) this is their main source of income and food. When I was a kid we can always go shore and fish, that will be enough to be a meal for our family and we are having fun. Now I don't know if there's still enough resources out there for everyone. I miss home, living for 5 years now here in New York.

    Don't worry, Yahuah God will bring back these fishes soon and you will never have to worry ever again. You will eat more than 3 meals a day. The 490 years are over. The Philippines shall rise again soon. Watch out for it. No one will ever be left behind.... again because we're freed. Yahuah God bless!!!

    Does they're language have some Spanish roots? Cause I swear I could hear some words like completo

    • @MasterAttendant
      @MasterAttendant 7 років тому +3

      Our language do have Spanish roots after all our country has been conquered and ruled by Spaniards for more than 300 years. I suggest looking up about the Philippine history if you're interested.

    I've been three times to apo island for the last 3 years.
    The mass tourism is really a big problem. The garbage, plastic pollution is everywhere. Either burned or just burried. Now you can collect batteries and plastic garbages on the ocean floor instead of watching fishes.
    Such a disaster for such a lost beauty.
    May God help us 🙏

      +Thai Koon it's common everywhere, even here in the states. my question was what leads you to believe that these two particular fishermen are on shabu. because I've known ppl who use it and these two don't look like users.
