  • I need space for a new Hellebores hence transplanting this Candytuft somewhere else. While I have it dug out, i divided it into 4 plants. Two of them were planted between the Hydrangea and Viburnum. The other two went back to where this came from - underneath the Boxwood in the front yard. Before I limped the Boxwood up, there is not enough space. The Candytuft was transplanted tp the backyard. Now it is back to its original location.
Candytuft is easy care and can take rough handling, which is needed to divide. I normally would add compost to the surrounding soil during transplant. Did not do this because I have already put them away for the season. I do put composted bark mulch which will add nutrient slowly to the soil.

Hello a little question, can this plant be kept in a pot

I have not done that before but would see that it should work planted in a container. Plenty of sun and moisture throughout the year. 🤞🏻🤞🏻good luck. . Let us know how it goes!

Hi there. Super useful. I really need to do this to mine. Am i too late now for this year? Do i need to wait until autumn? Thanks in advance. Debs. (Just read your previous comments and seen almost the same question/answer as mine! I will wait until autumn before i do anything to mine). Thank you

Thank you for this video. ❤ Purchased a place with a round flower bed in center of driveway that was full of candytuft around Japanese maples and a rhododendron. The candy tufts are starting to look sparse the 6 years I’ve been here due to my 4 dogs that love to lay in them and people watch.

What would be the best time to try this?

I have better success for most plants in cooler weather (below 21C), Fall or Spring in my area - west coast Canada. This is when the plant's growing is significantly slower or even dormant. Will take the shock better. Having said that, I have done division/transplant out of convenience in warmer days (not hot and dry). Keep them well watered till they show sign of taking. By warmer, I mean 23C to 25C roughly. Good luck.

Not many Garden Centres have little gem which is my favourite candytuft, so thanks I will give it a go.
