Hi Ammie! You can mix and match the different parts of each planner you like. You can put the weeks you like in the cover of the other one you like. That is the best part about Happy Planner. I tried out their dashboard layout last year and it worked really well for the slower time of my life. I've been using HP for about 6 years now, and it's changed my life. I'm more organized for sure, but I am also thinking more about my bigger life goals and, therefore, living more intentionally. I use this planner consistently because it's beautiful and feeds my soul. I love that it is both very functional and creative. I can't wait to see what you do with it and how you evolve with it.
Its a whole new world. I started out in the happy planner years ago and have ventured down the rabbit hole of the planner world. 2025 i plan to stay in a tomoe river papered planner, but i have also added a couple of happy planners back to the line up. you have inspired me to use it more functionally and slap the stickers down and just be happy with the process. thank you!!!
Hello from another By Bun happy planner convert 👋 I've got a HP for work stuff too and I am SO loving it. Can't wait for any more content you share with this and what you do with the system! I also used to think they were too live laugh love for me but then By Bun got me too 😂
By Bun got me to Hobonichi, but I’m happy there for right now (it’s an A5 cousin), I couldn’t get the Weeks to work for me either but the Cousin gives me plenty of room. I mean, if they would ship the Sleeping Beauty HP outside of the States, then I might’ve been tempted.
I am moving out of my HP in 2025, but I’ve been in one for the last decade (grad school and the first 8 years of my teaching career). I have flipped my covers inside out before; I just put the “live creatively” part on the front and then put fun stickers on it to make it feel more me. I’m stoked for you. Very fun, and I love the color palettes you chose. ❤
@@ammieyallHemlock and Oak - the weekly for keeping lesson plans on hand (my team plans digitally, but I like writing mine out) and the daily duo as task management - I’ve been using a Raccoon Society paper pad to organize all my “to-dos” for my planning period, but then I tear it off and throw it away… which seems like it could cause future me some problems 😅. I also figure the daily will function better for personal items than my *millions* of notes in my Notes App. 🫣 Trying to consolidate down to a manageable system instead of being a stereotypically scattered ADHDer. 😂
I saw Happy Planners while doing my shopping in places like Target and Walmart and got curious. I ended up buying a ton of stuff before figuring out if I would even use them. I liked the idea of using the hole punch to add in all sorts of other papers (which I have not done, of course). Then last year I stumbled across all the Hobonichi unboxings and fell in lust. They all were so elegant and grown up and I felt wow, this is a real BOOK. The Tomoe River paper, oh my! And the giveaways! The HP suddenly felt so childish and school notebook-like. The discs started to annoy me. I bought a ton of (expensive) Hobonichi stuff. I love it, but I don't use it, either. They're so beautiful I don't want to ruin them with my awful handwriting. Sorry for the long story, I wanted to say I'm very pleased to have found your video. Seeing your exuberance and your acceptance of the inspirational sayings that used to make my eyes roll has made me rethink the Happy Planner. Thank you!
Happy planner first befror i found Hobonichi. But i love the art of HP and im so happy you will be in this space! Cant wait to see your spreads and how you'll use it functionally. Ok but girl, i spent the whole unboxing screaming at the TV because you can SWITCH THE PAGES AND DISCS. I know that sometimes there are colors on the weekly pages but they also have undated pages that are blank. Never let the inside pages dictate your cover and dividers. Thats rhe whole point! I'll stop now because i love you and i dont want my obsession to crowd out the fact that im SO HAPPY you are in HAPPY PLANNER. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hahahaha sorry to have you screaming. I can’t handle undated anything because then I just won’t use it. Maybe I’ll do some frankenplaning in the future but it was too overwhelming for a newbie 😂
So...I have bought Happy Planners for years as I love their designs but I never end up using them. Word to the wise: best disc punch is at Levenger and they make amazing discs, too. I am going to try the classic size but with Inkwell Press Goal setting and monthlies for next year. Delicious paper and wonderful dailies, monthlies, etc. I must ask, which glasses are you wearing here, Warby Parker? I love them! I do love the Happy Planner Halloween covers (and some from Etsy, Jane's Agenda, etc. You are in an expansive planner space now...keep on enjoying!
@@ammieyall Lastly, Levenger has a ton of Classic sized stuff in their “Midway” line. I LOVE the inkwell press paper-their goal setting kit is a staple for me. Thanks for the glasses info. I love Warby Parker! I have their Kimball and a few others! Cheers.
Stop! I bought a happy planner last year but never used it because I couldn't find inspiration I loved to help me utilize it! I didn't even know they had that checklist format! Am I going to have to try Happy Planner again?? I look forward to happy planner check ins 📝
I have tried to love the happy planner so many times, but I can’t get past how the paper popped out in some section sometimes and then I have to fix that and be extra careful when I’m using it. It would be a dream system for me if it actually worked good for me.
@@ammieyall yes sorry I use the microphone to talk into my iPad while I’m eating and I didn’t proofread that very good lol. Yes how they get hung up sometime and I would like to fold mine back on itself and sometimes doing that pushes the bottom parts of the paper out of their first few little tab sections if that makes sense. Then I’m having to fix that or be extra careful. In the big picture it probably sounds kind of small, but it always would make me stop using it.
I am SO glad you are retrying the happy planner! I use a happy planner for work. I'm in education and have to keep work and personal separate. I have the classic layout. In the first box, I list the things I need to remind people of and things to follow up on. In the second box, I write the things I did that day at the end of the day before I leave work where I either helped move the ball forward on something critical or if I did something I can put down on my annual performance report. In the third box, I write something that I am grateful for that day so I end the day on a positive note and go home with a smile and not a smirk. Since I don't use Saturday or Sunday, I use the spaces for those two days as a running to do list for the week. Also, I have found the academic year happy planners designs are less woo and just something colorful and fun. I hope this comment helps!
Okay, I love this!! The Happy Planner x Ammie Y'all content is like the maximalist version of the Filofax ring planner girlies! and I love it a lot. I can't wait to see how this goes for you!
I agree with the using it functionally part. I have a discbound bullet journal style planner. I don't do decoration until after I put down my plans and task lists. And even then I don't put that many stickers. The closest I get to the videos is Franken planning. I also have been using discbound on and off and typically alternate between a discbound system and a bullet journal. Glad you enjoy the happy planner! If you want functional jane's agenda sells more functional layouts for all the happy planner sizes.
Late response but if not huge on decorative planning but love disc bound, there are so many other systems. Sounds to me like cloth and paper may be right up your alley! I too love disc but I use my 1/2 letter for work and keep it sticker free. My bound journal however has ALL the stickers!
Oh, I hope to see how you use your Happy Planner! I love the Happy Planner! I am also an artist…. I do plan functionally….but oh, how I also love getting creative in my Happy Planner! Enjoy!
wow just found your channel on your May flipthru. I am not two min in this video and already decided I will binge watch other videos on your channel. So fun, so relaxing, so relatable. I am working (remotely) and hanging out with you.
Damnit amy!!!! I started with happy planner and went down a huge rabbit hole and thats how i got into planners.... I finally found trp and thought i could leave happy planner behind but YOU!!!! LOL
I love the discbound system. I started with Happy planner, then I realized i'm more of a minimal girly so i use the Cloth & Paper discbound system. My favorite sizes are HP classic, Half letter and CP has a size smaller than the Mini HP called the CP petite (Levenger has cool discs and inserts too). So happy you're finding your planner happy place. Enjoy!
Going back to the beginning of my journey. Years ago, I used to use the Happy Planner.!! So Darlin’ take the vertical pages out of the first one and put them in the one with the peach white alternating discs, if that is the one u liked the most. Thats the betty of the disc system.
I make a Frankenplanner every season, but still use my Weeks and Cousin. I still use my TNs, too. When you love planners and notebooks, you find a way to use them all.
My heart almost broke , I was like your cousin flip through make me so happy cause they are filled with so much joy and love . But I get it with the weeks it’s smaller and constricting . I really enjoy it for everything that’s going on my life but you need to get what you need. Systems changing is just a thing that happens , if your happy with what you are using I am happy too ❤😂
This is so fun! The vertical layout is so crazy versatile. You can use your mildliners to make checklists easy peasy. I'm pretty much always in and out of happy planners (or similar styles) because, well, they are great (I've learned to only buy undated so I can jump around)! I have a few functionalish planner videos on my channel if you are looking for ideas! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Girl, get the happy planner stencil and put those checklists anywhere and everywhere you want. I don’t use HP anymore but I dare part with my stencil. I actually have multiples of that thing.
I love almost all of the happy planners and supplies. I have ones that are outdated that I just use correction tape on. They are so beautiful. But my main gal is my Hobonichi Cousin. She’s my ride or die!!❤
For years I used a bullet journal to keep track of my life. However, when I got sick and needed more room to write and things to keep track of, I realized that I did not have near enough space. I did a ton of research and also gave Happy Planner a try. It was one of the best decisions I had made in a long time. Between the option of things to keep track of, the ability to customize everything about it and the best part for me, stickers and making your own, I love Happy Planner, and I hope you do as well. = )
Glad you’re blending what works. I love HP for its flexibility. I also love my Sterling Ink A5 commonplanner - similar to a hobonichi. I use both. I creatively decorate my HP monthly pages and some add-in pages, but you do not hafta do full out decor on every spread. I do “decor light” on most pages because some people so over decorate, there’s no space left for functionality. It loses a bit of reality for me when it’s all stickers, washi and decor with like 3 words in a box- that’s not practical for me. I have frankenplanned sections for meal planning,health/wellness, faith, notes. Then I have a full HP for work -teacher planner… which I love the ability to punch and add all my extra teacher info pages I need in to my planner. Then I use my SI as my catch all for overall life planning (schedules on monthly and weekly) and journal for each daily page. But I need all the writing space. But then when I have time, I love to go full out and do all the decor and it gives me all the happy sticker fun I want. It’s all about balance.
I’ve been in an HP for a few years on and off, and you may like Plan with Ilysse! She has a full time job outside of her channel and she is pretty functional in my opinion.
ok, I have been using HP for a few years and the great thing about it is...franken-planning. The second planner you don't like the lines in just get the blank vertical insert and now you've got the best of both worlds. What ever section you don't like you can either get blank pages or cover with stickers! But yeah....a lot of us frankenplan our planners...it's a thing!
Yesss I’ve been experimenting more. This was genuinely me seeing and holding one irl for the first time so frankenplanning was a little too advanced at the time!
I don't think you will stay in it long term. I know it's exciting now but I think those rings are gonna start to bug you and you can't toss it into your bag like you can the weeks. They have fun products and I am glad that you are having fun with them!!! Happy Planning!!!
Same! Loved my Weeks, but I had to write soooo small in it, had to make columns to keep track of my family, and hated that I couldn't just add a page where I needed to. HP although bigger allows me to write like normal and add pages if needed with the hole punch. I am also using a weeks for journaling (no need for a page a day for me) and just ordered my 25 sushi weeks, but also ordered a 25 HP Mini dashboard to try so I can give myself some more room for all my art/stickers/keepsakes, etc.
This makes me so nostalgic, HP vertical is where I started in planning back in 2015! I used it super functionally because I didn’t know at that time (or they didn’t have them yet?!) about all their stickers 😂
@@ammieyall I love happy planning stickers but for some reason I hadn’t previously thought about the planners, I feel like I hear more about condren or passion planners. That said you aren’t the last one to try! My grandmother clickbaited me once. Once. It's great you've found something that's got you excited. You'll be very glad for upgrading to metal discs; I can't stand the way the pages (won't) turn with the plastic ones. Frankenplanning will become a new term to add your vocabulary. You can mix and match and create your own planner. Loved HP before I got into hobonichi and bound books for planning. Had to step away because I was spending too much money much on stickers lol HP is still so cute though and this video made miss it! Looking forward to more!
See and I started with HP and switched to Hobonichi! I wanted so badly to love the HP because of the customization, but it wasn't for me. Enjoy your HP journey, I'm glad it's working for you
😂 I had to give in and get a Happy Planner for work too. I’m even considering the disc system for a goal planner next year. I love your style no matter what you’re planning in.
Ok I've been avoiding HP because it's so cuuuutesy and I only ever see a few versions at Michael's or wherever and did not understand the disc bound thing. Now that I GET it and see the variety of options I'm obsessedddd and ordered one immediately. My old planner wasn't working for me either, gotta chase that high LOL
You should choose the cover, discs, dividers, and layout you like. Customize your own planner. That’s what I do! You can have everything you like, in one planner!
i shall forgive you as i understand the happy planner love hahaha. i enjoyed it in college but now i love my hobonichi as i lean more towards journaling but im excited for your adventure!
I have taught school for many years and used Happy Planner for my lesson plans and my planner! I used it as a functional planner with appointments, deadlines and vacays…lol
I used a Happy Planner in 2017-2018 and I still have… probably 100+ sticker books 😅😭 I still use a HP notebook for my school notes actually! It holds up shockingly well to fountain pens!
This is so funny I functionally plan in my happy planner I got an undated one back in March and I’m ditching my happy planner for the cousin come January🤣 I have severe ADHD and happy planner was the only way I could even complete tasks. I often found myself taking in notes from how the week went to look bad on and so naturally hobonichi is what I need in this season of my life. I do like the Happy Planner and I can’t wait to see how you use it!
There are so many Etsy sellers who sell covers for the Happy Planner. And there are inserts. I TRIED to like the Happy Planner, but I can’t get past the discs. I like neutral layouts or mostly neutral to decorate the way I like, so the Happy Planner inserts are too much for me. I love there are so many options to make us planner gals happy! ❤

That’s so fun!! I’m obsessed with slapping stickers down I swear
Hello from another By Bun happy planner convert 👋 I've got a HP for work stuff too and I am SO loving it. Can't wait for any more content you share with this and what you do with the system! I also used to think they were too live laugh love for me but then By Bun got me too 😂
She is out here doing the lords work teaching the alt girlies we can embrace the live laugh love of it all 😂
By Bun got me to Hobonichi, but I’m happy there for right now (it’s an A5 cousin), I couldn’t get the Weeks to work for me either but the Cousin gives me plenty of room. I mean, if they would ship the Sleeping Beauty HP outside of the States, then I might’ve been tempted.
@@ammieyall LOL!! 🥰
Thanks so much! Great idea ❤️ what did you move into?
@@ammieyallHemlock and Oak - the weekly for keeping lesson plans on hand (my team plans digitally, but I like writing mine out) and the daily duo as task management - I’ve been using a Raccoon Society paper pad to organize all my “to-dos” for my planning period, but then I tear it off and throw it away… which seems like it could cause future me some problems 😅. I also figure the daily will function better for personal items than my *millions* of notes in my Notes App. 🫣 Trying to consolidate down to a manageable system instead of being a stereotypically scattered ADHDer. 😂
I love hemlock and oak! Glad you found what works for your schedule!! It seems like your managing a lot!!
OMG yay! I was like NOOO please don’t. LOL. I’m obsessed with how you use your cousin.
Sorry for the click bait 😂 ❤️
Thank you!
Thank you! I was also scared of messing up the Hobonichi but you really can’t! Get in there and “mess” it up! Mine is all over the place and I love it
Happy planner first befror i found Hobonichi.
Before I forget my glasses are Winston and Kemi from Warby Parker. I love them! Thank you for the recs! I was wondering about the punches. ❤️❤️
Uh ohhhh you might!! I posted a peek at my pages on my Instagram if you want to see! @ammieyall over there too
Look at frakenplanning it's what I do... pull what u love the most from several books
On it!!
I have tried to love the happy planner so many times, but I can’t get past how the paper popped out in some section sometimes and then I have to fix that and be extra careful when I’m using it. It would be a dream system for me if it actually worked good for me.
hmmm interesting!! Do you mean when turning the pages? Tell me more!! ❤️
Love that!! Thank you for the info!
Okay, I love this!! The Happy Planner x Ammie Y'all content is like the maximalist version of the Filofax ring planner girlies! and I love it a lot. I can't wait to see how this goes for you!
🥹❤️ me too!!!
Thanks for the rec!! ❤️
Late response but if not huge on decorative planning but love disc bound, there are so many other systems. Sounds to me like cloth and paper may be right up your alley! I too love disc but I use my 1/2 letter for work and keep it sticker free. My bound journal however has ALL the stickers!
Fun!! Thanks!
You reading the quotes was so funny 😂😂😂 I'm glad you found a new planner that you love!
Tehe thank you!! ❤️❤️
Oh, I hope to see how you use your Happy Planner! I love the Happy Planner! I am also an artist…. I do plan functionally….but oh, how I also love getting creative in my Happy Planner! Enjoy!
It’s so fun!!
This is so good. I can feel how excited you are! That is how planners should make us feel.
You’re so right!! ❤️❤️
wow just found your channel on your May flipthru. I am not two min in this video and already decided I will binge watch other videos on your channel. So fun, so relaxing, so relatable. I am working (remotely) and hanging out with you.
That’s so fun!! Thank you ❤️❤️
Damnit amy!!!! I started with happy planner and went down a huge rabbit hole and thats how i got into planners.... I finally found trp and thought i could leave happy planner behind but YOU!!!! LOL
Haha I’m sorrrrrrrrry TRP will always be superior but my work needed something else!
Enjoy!
I’ll check those out! Thank you!
Going back to the beginning of my journey. Years ago, I used to use the Happy Planner.!! So Darlin’ take the vertical pages out of the first one and put them in the one with the peach white alternating discs, if that is the one u liked the most. Thats the betty of the disc system.
Totally! I’ve been mixing and matching. Fun!
I make a Frankenplanner every season, but still use my Weeks and Cousin. I still use my TNs, too. When you love planners and notebooks, you find a way to use them all.
Absolutely!
My heart almost broke , I was like your cousin flip through make me so happy cause they are filled with so much joy and love . But I get it with the weeks it’s smaller and constricting . I really enjoy it for everything that’s going on my life but you need to get what you need. Systems changing is just a thing that happens , if your happy with what you are using I am happy too ❤😂
Cousin content is here to stay! ❤️❤️
Oh cool! I’ll check them out ❤️❤️
Girl, get the happy planner stencil and put those checklists anywhere and everywhere you want. I don’t use HP anymore but I dare part with my stencil. I actually have multiples of that thing.
Yesss! I just freehand all my lil boxes. The problem I have is I need like 15 a day and not 7 😂
@@ammieyalljetpens sells a box checklist washi!
I love almost all of the happy planners and supplies. I have ones that are outdated that I just use correction tape on. They are so beautiful. But my main gal is my Hobonichi Cousin. She’s my ride or die!!❤
Same!
That’s so good to hear! I’m having a great time so far!!!
Def hard choices - my heart is with the folk art. And I’m saying this before you say which one you picked!
It’s soooo pretty but the cream side panels were just to distracting in the end
I’ll check her out thank you!!
holy moly. I've been wanting to resurrect my HP system. Didn't expect this to be a Happy Planner video at all. My wallet can't handle this.
Me just placing an order I can’t afford 😂
@@ammieyall I've decided to just print my own pages using Canva templates.
ok, I have been using HP for a few years and the great thing about it is...franken-planning.
We shall be! Bag tossibilty has been fine so far. At the end of the day it’s *just* my work planner
@@ammieyall You can also get smaller rings and just take a month or three at a time if you want!
This is joyful planning at its best! Discs definitely have advantages. I’m along for the HP ride! 🎉❤
Thank you so much!!!
The mini seems so cute but I’m not a multiple planner person. I wish I were (or maybe not for the sake of my bank account lo)
"I don't even LIKE to go outside." 😆 (same.)
It’s terrible out there!!!
This makes me so nostalgic, HP vertical is where I started in planning back in 2015! I used it super functionally because I didn’t know at that time (or they didn’t have them yet?!) about all their stickers 😂
Cute!! 2015!!!
I was still in my passion planner in 15 and definitely didn’t know about stickers at all 😂
Welcome to the HP community 😂. I use mine as my planner and common place journal. I❤it I use the dashboard layout
I’m obsessed!!!
You can always make your own cover, too. They used to sell kits for that.
Fun!
I knew you were playing with us but I didn’t know how. Idk why this clickbait saga is so funny 😂 loved seeing your excitement!
Tehe thank you!!
@@ammieyall I love happy planning stickers but for some reason I hadn’t previously thought about the planners, I feel like I hear more about condren or passion planners. That said you aren’t the last one to try! Gotta say, the final planner you ended up with really looks so fun and there’s something to be said (for me at least) about seeing a planner that’s exciting even if the tasks you need to do are a little daunting.
My grandmother clickbaited me once. Once.
It's great you've found something that's got you excited. You'll be very glad for upgrading to metal discs; I can't stand the way the pages (won't) turn with the plastic ones. Frankenplanning will become a new term to add your vocabulary. And, if you're interested in more productivity-type videos, try content creators who use the Cloth & Paper disc system. Have fun with your new planner!

You can mix and match and create your own planner. Loved HP before I got into hobonichi and bound books for planning. Had to step away because I was spending too much money much on stickers lol HP is still so cute though and this video made miss it! Looking forward to more!
Yes! I’ve been mixing and matching. So fun!!
Girl you got me. My pitchfork was READY! 😡😡😡😂
Hahaha nooooo I’m sorry!! 😏
See and I started with HP and switched to Hobonichi! I wanted so badly to love the HP because of the customization, but it wasn't for me. Enjoy your HP journey, I'm glad it's working for you
Thank you! Funny how it works for some and not others!!
😂 I had to give in and get a Happy Planner for work too. I’m even considering the disc system for a goal planner next year. I love your style no matter what you’re planning in.
Thank you so much!!! Response has been mixed 😅 ❤️
Haha yessss!!! Which one did you order?
You should choose the cover, discs, dividers, and layout you like. Customize your own planner. That’s what I do! You can have everything you like, in one planner!

I have taught school for many years and used Happy Planner for my lesson plans and my planner! I used it as a functional planner with appointments, deadlines and vacays…lol
It’s so fun!!
I used a Happy Planner in 2017-2018 and I still have… probably 100+ sticker books 😅😭 I still use a HP notebook for my school notes actually! It holds up shockingly well to fountain pens!
Ohhh that’s good to know!!!
Have you considered Frankenplanning and combining things you like from all three?
Yes! You’re seeing me see these irl for the first time so I wasn’t thinking forward with my first reactions! ❤️
Love that. I can’t handle anything undated. I would never use it!
I love it. Loved the click bait thing. I was also very relieved when I found out you weren’t talking about your cousin! ❤
Thank you!! Yes cousin content is forever
The one you chose just screams “It’s A Small World” ride at Disney, to me. Very reminiscent of their colors, fonts, etc.
Ohhh you’re right!
Girl!!!!!! 😮 glad you are happy! Oddly enough I found one on clearance and will be using it for my networking groups stuff through the end of the year. Why not? $1.49 for a 3.5 month calendar? I’m not mad about it.
