Ah the engine out , nothing quite wakes you back up like that sudden silence accompanied by a wing shooting forward .
Keep the content coming, might seem boring to you but we love it
While I agree that the sudden silence tends to adjust ones focus pretty quickly, I had a prop split open in flight, and that racket will make a pilot wide-eyed and bushy tailed RIGHT NOW! I killed the motor, but the noise continued, and that wasn't at all helpful. That also lead to what is probably still my most "interesting" landing. I had to stay seated and lift my feet to clear the last rows of head high corn and then get my feet down in the last 5 feet. I landed and kept kiting my glider about a 10th of a mile back to my vehicle. The fluttering prop was so loud that a farmer that lives about a mile from where it happened heard it and came to see if I was OK. No injuries, no other damage.
Good to see ya Doc, I LOVE ME SOME KYLE'O VIDEO'S, Stay Safe Y'all...........
Lol “what do you do if your motor dies “ haha great Video as Always 👍👍
Well, we're glad your landing was uneventful! Eventful landings - BAD! 😁Spark plug ejection! That'll do it! Great to see ya as always. 🍻
Hmmmm, not only a motor out, a plug out. Great video.
Excellent information. Thank you for sharing it..
I pre-flight and recheck on landing, I take off my shirt and fold my wing up and stuff it in my shirt if necessary. Yes, you are right always practice engine outs. I've had 20 mostly in my first year. I got one route to the beach with about 25 landing sites possible. On a 70-mile route. I'll go to idle and see if I can hit those spots for the fun on it. Always practice is what I tell newbies and really just never stop, plus it's fun to challenge yourself. I could write a book on my share of problems, most of them self-inflicted. I got it down pat now. I always look for a landing spot and always assume your engine will fail. AKA falconronfalconron f/b
As one of my good instructors said, it's not an if, it's a when. Those that haven't had an engine failure are just waiting. Good content as always.
Kyle your awesome and very underrated keep being hilarious and putting out great content
Guess what Kyle, I have a sparkplug tap. I rarely say anything but I do watch your vids....awesome stuff
Thanks for sharing this, you're exactly right anything that good happens when we don't have the camera ready. I always carry an extra spark plug as well as a couple small tools in my bag. I have had to swap out a couple plugs in the past which kept me from eating a ride.
Nice explanation of how to stick a landing, unplanned. Thanks for the video
I had that happen on a dirt bike years ago and it was loud when it blew out 😆 Thanks for always sharing knowledge and experience with us Kyle.
Well this was better than cooking a pizza...
LOL
thank you! somebody had to say it. i wonder what he does if the next sponsor is for condoms. mid flight gangbang probably you think? well i didnt say it, thats all you guys! 😅
Pizza video was so stupid. That's the last time I will watch him
Now if Kyle wanted to do some REAL food... Or even a DECENT Brand of pizza LOL I'd be down, perhaps a crawfish boil at 2500'?😆
You get what you get and you don't throw a fit.
Great!
A simple clip that connects to the fins on the head would prevent the plug from backing out. A small metal tang that hits the flat sides of the plug where the sockets grabs and simply attach that to a head bolt. I have seen several videos with this happening, preventing it in the first place would save a lot of money. Also, imaging getting whacked with that plug on the ground, or hitting a car lol
It's not a bad idea although it has it's possible 'negatives' it can cause too. If you've a loose plug working back-forth and wearing threads down, and the head, being aluminum, will wear much quicker than the steel plug threads. On top of this, if a pilot is not in tune with his machine, it may stay like that for a while... in which case can cause a lean A/F mixture scenario resulting in possible early top-end wear/failure, or even a potential for premature coil/ignition system failures due to a weak or intermittent ground situation. Now this stuff I've said above is more like something a 'dealership' might say LOL, but they are real possibilities...and I'd rather not lose a plug- my luck, it'd happen while crossing over an interstate or something and just happen to whack a windshield and cause a freakin' pileup beneath me. So a spare plug is REALLY cheap and it's good to keep on hand in case of fouling(very rare these days)... but moreso just being cheap peace of mind. Man, sorry I turned that into a pointless ramble haha, have a safe weekend
I want to know the other two genie facts about your life!? Good content!
Good Video...because it was REAL.😊
Always keep an out. No wing bag? What happened to that Pumpkin for your pocket? 😁
With 7 units, my chances are slim that I have it in "the" unit😂
@@kyleoglee Back to the Singer... 😉
When I start flying after training I'll be by myself out in the middle of nowhere. This is my biggest fear lol.
Kyle O You better start adding that spark plug to your pre-flight check ..I thought it was but especially now since it likes vibrating out.TWSS
if the plug is vibrating too strong and fall out you are forced to do a dead stick approach. never fun. but as you said with a good pre-flight inspection and proper lubricant on ALL necessary parts you can expect a smooth ride 🤪😜alright alright...i´ll show myself out
🤣
I don't have an ICE PPG (EPPG) but if I did, wouldn't it be a good idea to lock wire the spark plug to a head bolt or fin? Maybe, carrying an extra spark plug and wrench would be a good idea too. Plus, I carry a factory wing bag under my seat just in case I ever need to pack up in the field for a hike.
I carry an extra plug just in case the plug fouls mid flight. I never imagined it falling out😂😂
I had 2 motor outs and 3 three bird strikes, but landed safely on all 5.
3 bird strikes? I need to know more.
Great video man!
Hey bud, maybe try the Sena 50c. Does voice and camera together, designed for motorbikes. Good vids though mate.
When you rub the bottle a “male genie” comes out? I think that may be a much larger problem than a motor out!
How to turn an emergency into a mild inconvenience.... plan ahead.
Got a question for you I bought a brand new monster 185 Factory r paramotor the spark plug was already fired and in the original box out of the bag motor was nice and clean red plug in the sparkplug hole doesn't look like it ran the piston is black and greasy and smells like exhaust I've never fired the motor the guy I baught it from said they test it at the factory
Dirty pants , NOT on the inside 😂
Kyle was as serious as a judge too! lmao
Better watch out, The ultimate expert Brad Roper is gonna trash you in his forum 😂😂😂
isnt the ultimate expert an almost godlike dude named dell? besides all the uncountable world records he hold he seems to be the king of mocking everybody in the world
You’ve got a lot of opinions for someone that didn’t even know you can’t apply brakes while on speedbar #noob 😂
@@southernutahparamotor8258 you've got a lot of opinions acting like you're some end all be all expert that you're not, posting them on your forum just to delete and block anyone who disagrees with you.
Sorry to air out our crap on your channel Kyle. Although engagement looks good on your algorithm 🤣 but maybe not the best place. My apologies sir. You are an actual authority I have great respect for!
🤟🌮🤟🌮🤟🌮
I hit the like but it would not let me be the 200th like....
No damage from the plug?
I saw one of Tuckers videos where someone's plug came out mid flight and didn't damage the prop. Hard to believe it doesn't hit. Must be shooting out with a lot of force!
@@adam1279 it does. think of motor compression. if you have 10 bar pressure or more on that plug at the moment it shoots out and even have enough energy to get ripped out that tight rubber thingy i doubt it will have any chance to hit the prop. i am more concerned the spark cable got damaged.
Boot caught it. Then it fell off later.
love your bad content !!! LOL
Clearly you should have been wearing a skydiving rig and jumped out like Trevor Jacob for more UA-cam views.
or made pizza while emergency landing for extra spicy clickbait
Could somebody tell me what I should be looking to pay for a used wing how big of one that I need I'm right at 250 lb, and where would be the best place to find one, I would really appreciate the information. I don't think I would like a nice one because I'm pretty sure I would tear it up trying to learn, once again thanks for the info and keep having fun, PS I want to put this wing on a trike,,
Wing selection isn't based on weight:size. It's highly model specific. Whichever model you're interested in, there is a size in that make/model that is appropriate. That size doesn't translate to other glider makes/models.
How in the fuck was your prop ok? Just float n.
My first thought as well, I had the pull start pin (the pin that holds the pull start cord above your head) fall off mid flight and that of course dinged my prop
@@zachc6762 i had the entire pullstart including all bolts ripped itself from the frame mid flight and destroyed my eprop. that landing i also had luck to record and upload.
spark plug should get ejected with alot pressure. seems that prevented it from damaging the prop.
The boot caught it. At least long enough. On the last 2, it was still hanging in the boot.
You have love Kyle O's terrible content, prefer to other peoples good content😂
It isn't the first time you've had a spark plug blow out either! Its a fairly rare failure. For it to happen more than once on the same individual is exceedingly rare. Maybe you should reconsider how you are torqueing them.
Yep! Once I know I didn't tighten it. This one someone else did the install (used motor). And one time it just got loose over a long time period, but I was able to diagnose before it ejected.
@@kyleoglee With that kind of luck with plugs, I think I would keep a spare in my pocket. lol
There are pills for that!
Ok,,,
Borderline being talked into this game...
Multiple (very Multiple) motor-out landings, not expected,,, is not very encouraging!!
Do understand, what goes up, must come down,, but the coming down when and where up planned, plays an important part!!
Is is the quality or type of engine I should be looking at??? Is there a "stat" or failures information sheet out there that the engine guys put out?? If so, are they truthful !!
Personally this has me a bit curious..
Do you need to be a small engine repairman by trade to own one of these things.. hell, my lawn mower never stops.. aren't they under the same stress?
A certain country build better engines.
Just questions that the " paramotor Bible" doesn't really anser.
Should be a big deal if you plan right, but going up and having to find an UBER who'll bring me back does... 😊
You must understand, I have thousands of flights. The majority of them are problem free. Don't get hung up on finding something reliable. There is no such thing. It's all worth it though!
I don't know how to phrase this but let's see well heck okay I'll just come right out and say it you and your wife were on good terms aren't you😂
Kyle I want to fly so bad I can taste it. I’ve come to the conclusion though that it takes over and becomes a way of life. Up early, in bed late, fixing this and improving that. Constant maintenance! It’s like being married and having 3 girlfriends on the side. They all want attention and all hell breaks loose if you don’t give it to them. Actually 3 girlfriends might require less attention than flying. Hmmmmmmmmm!
having 4 gf and 2 paramotors i can tell you learn to manage. 🤣
First
Something ain't right. You must be flying moster. 600 hours, no motor out.
Kyle your awesome and very underrated keep being hilarious and putting out great content
