You are going to love that swath of hydrangeas in full bloom. If there is one thing I have learned from following my favorite gardeners, it is you learn from your mistakes and it is ok.🙌
Looks lovely as always again 🌻 PLEASE make more videos I'm wanting to do a shade garden slowly. Love seeing how you're managing the plants and what to consider where we planting... learning lots🌻🌱🌻
Hey, Joyce! Thank you friend! I am so glad you are learning and finding the videos helpful! I’ll aim to do more in the shade area, and actually it’s been the most fun area to work on for me in the garden. I have a soft spot for shade plants I think! 💚🌱
Great ideas and thinking. I had to sacrifice my blooms on my panicles last year due to the floppiness and this year the stems are so so strong and the blooms are glorious!
That flower bed is becoming more and more beautiful. I really like how you layer the plants. It is so hot and dry here that I would be worried to do any transplanting at this time. I am waiting until fall. You have the magic touch!
Yes y’all, I seriously just went for it because it was hurting me to see them being so burned, but we’ve been getting SO MUCH rain, I figured it was worth the risk!

I love love the hydrangea/autumn fern combo. (You can bet that’s going in my notes! ) Great location move. It’ll be interest to see how they do. Keep us posted!
I completely agree with Bunny 502. You learn from your mistakes, and you do things differently next time. Your rearrangements look good. Sometimes my mistakes turn out to be something l like better.
I have the opposite problem where there’s more shade then sun in my garden. Unfortunately living in NY suburban area houses are extremely close & tall trees everywhere. This takes away the sun in most places. Dispute it all you tangled it like a champ. If you have deep shade, get a soft caress mahonia. You’ll love them! I planted total of 6 inland they are so delightful.
Acuba fan here! I have three taller than me & I just rooted some clippings to put elsewhere. They are tough & I love the foliage. Looks great as usual! 🥰
Just noticed you have an oak tree. Do you have any tips for dealing with oak seedlings? They are my garden nemesis, and I would be a very wealthy woman if I could sell them! I mulch with pine straw, I have ground cover, and I use pebbles around my flagstone path, and the seedlings come up through it all🤪
I have feel in love with those ferns. I was wondering if I could find them now in July? Could you recommend where to find them and their name if I can plant some now. This is my first year to plant here and I have a shade garden on my front of the house. I have a Hosta that I divided and planted already.
Bettina, go to a local nursery- not Lowe’s- and ask them if they have Autumn Fern. They’re awesome and will look great in your landscape in shade. They will go wonderful with hosta. You should be able to find them in July!!
I planted 6 hydrangea is there a way to recover the sunburn, I’m east facing they get morning sun and in the shade in mid afternoon. live in UT very dry hear. 😊💕
Hey, Erin! So if you’re east facing, that means they should get Morning sun and afternoon shade, am I right? Are you seeing sunburn on them? You won’t be able to recover the burn leaves but they’ll lose their leaves during the winter and grow back healthy again.
@@erinn5319 you are welcome! Hydrangeas can take a little sun! In fact they’ll bloom better if they get some sun. But they burn when they get too much- the harsh afternoon sun was what mine were getting. So unless you’re seeing yours burn, they’re probably pretty happy in your east - facing space!!

Shade garden area is wonderful and I love that you are grouping your hydrangeas together. They’ll be so happy there and even more gorgeous!
And the autumn ferns!! Perfect 💚
Aw thanks ladies!!! 😘😘

Thank you so much, Bunny. I was like “Ugh! I can’t believe I have to change this! But, it’s always worth it in the end!” 🤗

Yes, I am doing the same thing waiting until fall. Can't take a chance stressing the plants or myself.🤭🤗

I love your ideas! I just bought 4 soft caress mahonia for the back shade area near the golf course! So excited! Have always wanted to use them!! 👍🏻

Can’t wait to see the hydrangea border in bloom!
Oh ME TOO, Dawn!!! 🤗😛
Those variegated hydrangeas don’t ever have to bloom for me. I think their foliage is the show stopper. You did a great job rearranging!

YEP, same! No secret here, I just find them and pull em up. It is crazy 😖
my acuba leaves and stems turned black and i had it planted on north side of house i guess it had to much sun first time ever
Vivian I’ve had that problem too, but in a shade bed. I think it could be a fungus. Clip off the black stems and leaves, was what I was told to do!
