Glad to see you figuring out how to fix this iMiev. With its low mileage, it should be good for many more years of smog- free motoring. Considering how much support manufacturers got from taxpayer subsidies, it is disappointing that government did not put pressure on the manufacturers to provide information needed for maintenance. With Mitsubishi being taken over by Nissan, the iMiev is pretty much an orphan now.
Brilliant stuff I'm glad there are people willing to do this kind of work. It looks like a lot of labour so at the usual commercial rates a job well into 4 figures for a car that I'd guess is barely worth that. But if we're trying to make things greener, repair is the way to go.
It comes down to cost really. Tbh it’s not economically viable unless you really like your car 😆 as values have gone down but they are absolutely fixable. I can keep doing them if I get more subscribers/watch time as that will cover some of the time! Cheers
Good to see that you fixed that iMiev! Its the best for the environment to keep them running as long as possible. I'm also in the process to refresh the battery cells of an old Renault Twizy. Hope to publish a video on my channel about it in a few weeks.
I had a Twizy that had sat for a long while, took the main battery apart and the cells puffed up as soon as the bolts were undone. It was like a lifeboat expanding!!!
@@garycevrepairs Thats normal that they expand! Ok, maybe not like a lifeboat but more like 10% more in size. The Twizy is using pouch cells and need to be compressed. Without the proper tools, pretty hard to put them back.
4:39 I see you have an Autel DS808 and it is working with the i-miev. Cool. I've been looking for a scantool that would work with it. How do you like it and what Autel model would you buy now if ordering one? I got an XTOOL InPlus IP819TP and can't get it to read it. :(
Hi, I get the autel from work so I don’t get a choice but having said that I have 2, one is an older model but both work well, the autels have very good coverage of EVs so that’s why we have them, if you’re keen to get something good then autel is a good idea. If it had a Bluetooth obd connector that would be nice tho. I did a previous video on diagnostics comparing an app, cheap scanner and the autel. Hope that helps. Cheers

Great job Gary. I wonder how many miles this will drive now compared to when it was new, will you be testing this when brakes etc are cleaned up?
Hi yes once it’s got an mot I will fully test the car including range on a full charge. Thanks.
