Early 90's $30+ to operate one of those when money still had some value. Now a days $30 is a lot of money per hour and buys nothing, and America is no longer an industrial superpower.

@@warthog948it’ll cover up any hydraulic leaks, lose time in productivity taking out of service to trace down the leak. Regular machine no biggie, at a mine each hour is factored in $10’s of thousands of dollars. Or maybe they’ve got down time factored in? Dunno. Interesting though.
@@Harikarikillboy-fs5vl honestly you notice the hydro leaks ovee grease. The oil is just so easy to stop. Give a leak 5 minutes anx the rest of the boom will look coated in mud too from dust clinging to the oil
I often think the same. It needs massive power because of bucket size but also weight of boom. It moves slow because of need for so much fluid flow through double hydraulics. I often wonder if a 385C could overall with a smaller bucket and boom over a time frame move more material.
I would suppose digging tunnels into the shell of coal. Then blowing off portions and removing it with small carts to the outside. Isnt a profitable as removing the top laying. And proceeding to mega mine it with 1.5 million pound equiptment.

It seems that the 6015B excavator is bigger than the 6040 because the 6015B excavator is only 4 bucket
The 6040 has a larger bucket capacity. I believe the dump truck demonstrated in this video is larger than the one you had seen with the 6015b.

I would much rather load with a Cat 385C. This Cat moves too slow.

the cat 385 is just a toy.
It sacrifices speed for muscle, and it's got lots of muscle. Would be fun to see a couple of these "arm wrestle". ;-)

its the amount of work done that matters.not the speed.
