That double-decker coach really brings back memories of my childhood. I traveled a lot on the T55/56 service between Beijing and my grandparents in Baoji before the high-speed line was built. I used to run around the corridors and up and down the stairs. I didn't know it at the time but apparently, that service is the only long-distance service in China that uses double-decker rolling stock. Unfoturnalty I think the double-decker consist was withdrawn sometime around 2015 and the service has used normal rolling stock since. The original consists were briefly used on a service between Xi'an and Chongqing but last I heard that they are now in storage. Double-decker trains aren't very common in China anymore due to passengers shifting to the high-speed network and I kind of miss them. Anyways, great video! Would you be doing a video of the double unit DF11G which Chinese railfans nicknamed "pig"? They are designed to haul the type 25T coaches with head-end power and got quite famous for pulling many top expresses in the late 2000s and 2010s.

Oh, thank you so much for writing and sharing your memories about these interesting double-deckers! It's always nice to hear from someone that's experience the real deal as there's a good chance I might not be able to (especially if they're phasing them out). And, since you've brought it up in your most friendly message, I'm moving my "pig" to the top of the list of locomotives to cover. I need to update my "dual prime mover" video, anyhow, so it'll be a good time to get that done.

When I lived in Beijing in 2001, I believe the sky blue-and-white and orange-and-white double-decker coaches ran on the Beijing-Shenyang route, as well. Wish I could have gone to Baoji back in the day!

I Hope I’m doing them justice! I wish I had time to do longer histories of each of these… maybe someday?

Great video. I just got 4 of the double deck coaches, a random find on FB Marketplace. I own a couple of DF4's in HO and more N scale models.

They do turn up from time to time, especially since versions of them were sold here in the U.S. Best wishes on your Chinese consists!

Oh, you’re in a good space since they are starting to come out with more models in N in China. I like Japanese models and they are so N-centric, but it seems as if there changed afoot in this area! More videos are on the way, I promise! Thanks so much for tuning in!

@@DoctorHobby no problem, and thank you, ive been able to buy some rolling stock, just wanted a steam engine first because i didnt have any yet, found a microace 9600 jnr engine that cnr used postwar (converted to standard gauge) so its off scale a bit but with some paint should be perfect. there are a handful of engines avalible in n scale, all are good quality from what ive seen, just going for simple stuff first

It is very cool, and that's ok! One of these I'll have my layout up on-demand on the Internet and you can run mine whenever you want!

Question, can You prepare more interesting rake to pull, like a generator car or baggage? Maybe coach in different livery, as there are quite a lot of liveries in China.
