- This episode is from my last days in Kenya which shows a story how I made new friends, just like that, on the side of the road. Our initial plans with Armin and Rico was to ride together for a day and have few beers but one day stretched into a week, few hundred kilometers and uncountable beers.

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I was raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. Love to see the videos of fellow riders and interaction on your rides. It's nice to share stories and adventures with fellow riders. I'd like to see a bit more. I wish I could ride along with you on some of the journeys! Feeling tied down in the 9-5 world (but glad to still be working) and with this stuff going on. I shouldn't complain too much though I did bring my GSA with me in WA, USA while remotely working from my home in Idaho. Home is now a travel trailer to stay out of hotels and somewhat isolated. Just a different kind of adventure! 😊

Kings, I’m not sure how much more Africa travel you are planing to do but it would be a good idea to invest in a GPS add on called Tracks 4 Africa. Runs in conjunction with your existing system (gps, tablet or phone) but with a lot more detail of the little tracks and trails. The system is updated 2/3 times a year using data reported back from travelers

Michael B : I am aware of the time laps but my intentions are two fold 1) there was talk of a return trip up the west coast of Africa 2) others often use the channels as guides for future trips.

next time you come to kenya halla. Longest i have done is Nairobi - Kigali 1300kms on a 223cc bike

Tough riding over there, those aren’t roads they are trails that cows use. Still great to see you moving along and making new friends. Remember b safe ride on.
Driving on very rough roads, with gravel, a slight reduction in tire pressure. (While the tires are cool) will make the ride smoother and better reduce the impact from rough road surfaces.

I was in a trio for a while and we had the same split on capacities.
I was never fastest on the GS, but probably most comfortable most often.
The Swiss did a nice job on Africanizing the 701.
Good to see all them skills you learned earlier came into good use - Cheers Kinga.

... what he said about the R1200GS, too big, too heavy for real adventure riding. I struggled a long time with myself, but now I am happy that I got rid of it. The next one will be a simpler bike that weights 40 kg less, at least.
Waiting for you to come down to Malawi it is a beautiful country to visit trust me.
