Dawg hell yeah!!! These guys have been one of my favorite bands since highschool. So stoked you reacted to this 🤘🏻 Also, Cedric Bixler-Zavala has such an amazing voice, hope you check out more of their stuff.
Watching the change from apprehension to just fully immersed in the soundscape was amazing, really glad you gave this a shot and theyre well worth a deeper dive, as well as At The Drive In.
I just want to make it clear that Flea did not write the bass lines to this album. He and RHCP guitarist , John Frusciante, did the studio recordings only. Anyway one of my favorite bands all time. Different
You were a freshman when this came out so it’s not your fault you were late on this band. I was a senior when this came out, so I was right on time for one of the best music scenes in history. And I sweet prog/thrash band going to boot. This album had a HUGE influence on me musically and is still one of my all time favorites. Thanks for the honest review 👍🏻😎
YESSSSS, been loving the mars volta so much recently, such a good time for you to get into them, i truly hope you like them enough to do albums eventually, it's just different..... i would recommend some of my favourites but they dont quite agree with your 7 min time limit either 😂😂😂
Found you from the King Gizz reactions, but you absolutely need to give this whole album a listen. It’s probably worth listening to more from them as well, but this album specifically is one of their best.
Brilliant. Always a great gateway into The Mars Volta's sound. You should check out Eriatarka, off this same album. It's under 7 minutes, which is kind of rare for a Volta song, lol.
Welcome to the TMV rabbithole. You need to listen to at least the Tremulant EP, De-loused In The Comatorium and Frances The Mute albums in your lifetime.
,Yeah, because their original bassist left just before recording. John Frusciante also contributed a little. These two were more like session players, being they were associated with Rick Rubin who I imagine made the suggestion. Still, very cool to see them both on this and the bass is killer (I didn't know this the first time hearing the album back in the day)
Loved At The Drive-In back in the day. Embarrassed to say that this is the first time I’ve ever heard The Mars Volta. Won’t be the last though.
You're in for such a treat with this whole album and the one after it, Frances the Mute
10/10 album - 20 years later and I will still happily listen to it from start to finish with no skips
Amputechture was so much better though imo.
@@bigwengz914me over here vibing to The Bedlam in Goliath
best prog album of the 21st century forsure
Being from El Paso, this band captured the feel and life of the city in a nutshell. This album is the essence and the embodiment of El Paso!

Btw;
T00L won a Grammy with a sixteen-minute saga and that album sold more copies that TS's 2019 album

Man, such a great album!

This album blew my mind in high school
Best band of the past 25 years and it's not even close 🤷🏻♂️
Going to see them in April!
"playing like they a loaded gun to their heads." - anonymous
Two members of RHCPs have recorded with/in this band
All times legends!
Their best work. One of the best rock albums of all time
Love TMV, but haven't listened to them much in the last few years. I will put that right today. Thanks.
IMO, This album and Frances are the peak of Prog.
This whole album was my KGLW-equivalent music odyssey experience when I was 18-19. I hope this encourages you to try some full MV albums

Try concertina. their most underrated song. Maybe the most underrated song in the world (lol)
