    WIN A SET OF RT24 RADIOS (UK ONLY I'm afraid) - If you can spot the mistake in this video (there may be more than one but I am looking for only 1 particular error), let me know and you could win.

      Hello, mate.
      First things first. Here is a list of mistakes (they not real mistakes, just minor inaccuracies):
      1. The test start at 3:22 not 4:22
      2. 4:02 the arrow shows 114.5 Hz not 114.8 Hz which is the 16th subtone.
      3. 5:42 the file comes from testing the close distance not 15 cm.
      Either I won or not, I've subbed. Good channel. Found it while considering buying this radio and looked for reviews.

      Spot on Peter. That will do for me! It was number 2 I was after. The on-screen arrow displayed the incorrect CTCSS frequency. Send me an email (address is in the video description) and we'll sort out the shipment of the RT24 radios.

    I use the RT24 quite often for my job, I think they are really clear most of the time

    That ending tone on Motorola can be disabled if you press up arrow while turning the radio on, regardless if key tones are enabled or not. My brother and I are using T60s for cycling with VOX, and that tone would drive either of us nuts. Luckily Motorola leaves option to disable it.

    You recommend the new T82 in your links. How about audio quality on T82? As good as T80?

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech 3 роки тому +1

      They’re the current offering but I don’t know if they’re equivalent audio wise. I’ve never used them I’m afraid.

  • @saxpert

    So you didn't do the recording via fieldrecorder to head how the loudspeaker does its job?

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech 3 роки тому

      No. I wanted to test how the actual radio sounded (they vary...a lot) but you’re right that this would also be a very valid test alongside it. I’ll include this in future radio tests. 👍🏻

    I've just got the retevis rt27 pmr radios these have two orange soft buttons on the side one is the monitor and alarm the other one scans these radios are very well built and have a good quality plastic housing they seem to be a bit better than its predecessor the rt24 the usual usb charger but the rt27 chargers are just that little bit more rugged and radio sits in well unlike the rt24 which sometimes could be a tad fiddly full 16 chs 8 of which are the new Ofcom 446 channels released in 2018 so all in all a really good package for £29-99.Still haven't checked the range all channels are the same setting as my rt24 radios well worth a look at.....

      Nice summary. Thanks Michael. I’m getting the RT648 tomorrow so I’ll be testing that one over the next week or so including a full submersion test 😀 - Stay tuned.

      Just a further point I've found on the retevis rt27 when you're on ch3 it transmits to other radios on ch7 and ch8 it's a bit annoying and baffling.

      How does the speaker audio compare on each? The holes for the speaker look small on the 27.
      Also wonder if all those extra buttons would make things confusing where children are involved.

      The Motorola T80 has outstanding audio quality. It's both louder and clearer than the RT24. However, it's also 3 times the price. I can't say which you should buy but you do get more for your money with the T80 (now replaced by the T92 amzn.to/2QBgqRU)

    Does Motorola walkie talkie compatible with retevis walkie talkie

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech 2 роки тому

      If they're using the same standard (FRS, PMR446 etc) then yes. However, they may have differences in the way they're programmed out of the box which would mean you'd need to change that manually before they could 'hear' each other.
