    Thank you for sharing the important details.. Please let me know is the recommendation letter need to be from topmost person from organization required? Or recommendation letter from IT project manager is also works? Also please guide is we require some Migration consultant help or we can do all process our self, which one is better?

    • @SatyajitSatoDas
      @SatyajitSatoDas  4 роки тому

      1. Recommendation from anyone works but you will also need to prove that the person giving recommendation is successful himself. So you will have to figure out the balance of how successful the person is and how good of a recommendation he can give you.
      2. You can in theory do all the process yourself. But if one can afford, getting help from Migration consultant can significantly reduce the work from your side as they will help in finalizing the top documents as well as for the personal statement among other things. If you are interested I can refer you to one, just email me at tennexas@gmail.com

    Thanks for sharing. You said you did your studies in mech engineering but worked in different field as software engineer. I am in same category. How much experience you had as software enginner and were you able to mix documents/recommendations from both fields or just about your current field (software) ? Do they stamp the visa for "digital" field or you are free to work in any field (except health/sports)?

      Sorry for the late response!
      I had about 1-2 years of professional experience but I also had 3-4 years of "learning" experience. This resulted in me being able to make a few small software products (e.g. games, apps) which probably added up in the application.
      Yes you can have a mixture of documents from multiple fields.
      You can work on most fields but not all as you mentioned already.

    The only small kink with your case is the following:
    "Tech nation endorsed "exceptional promise" route requires you to wait for 5 years before applying for settlement"
    In your case, you could have applied for the RAE endorsement, which has a wait-time of just 3 years before applying for ILR even for exceptional promise
    --------------
    Secondly, some other points about the content in the video which may be of help to others:
    For science endorsing bodies, you just need one recommendation letter. My endorsing body was the Royal Academy of Engineering.
    Also, the endorsement review does not generally help. Stage 1 is not an immigration application. Therefore, it is not a formal visa appeal protected by immigration laws, but rather merely an administrative review, which clearly states that all that they will do is to independently investigate whether your application was handled in a neutral way, and that all the proper procedures have been followed.
    They will not review any new evidence/documents that were not part of the original endorsement application. Also, admin review is not a repeat assessment/peer-review of your application in detail, but rather just an internal auditing to confirm that their standard internal procedures were followed, and there was no lapse of following the formalities as laid out in the guidelines (by either the endorsing body or the Home Office). For example, a review is likely to be successful if the Home Office did not correctly forward a supporting document (such as a conference publication citing that you are just the 17th author in the list, or that they goofed up in conveying the incorrect ATLAS UAN number/decision overlay to you etc.). They will not study the merits of your case again!
    ________
    Question to OP:
    You said you were working in software engineering field prior to applying for your visa. In the later section, you also say you had to apply for GTV from your home country since you were on a Tier 4 visa. Did you mean Tier 4 DES?
    If you are on a Tier2 visa in the UK, you can switch from within the UK, and whatever time you already spent on Tier 2 counts towards this 3 years limits. This could be crucial. A friend of mine spent 2 years, 11 months on Tier 2 and switched to global talent just a month ago, and has already been approved for ILR.

    • @SatyajitSatoDas
      @SatyajitSatoDas  3 роки тому

      Thanks Krishnakumar for the detailed comment!
      Since I changed my field and was no longer doing research at the University, applying for Tech Nation route made more sense. As RAE would have expected me to still be working in research in Engineering unless I am mistaken. Also the rule of 3 years for exceptional promise is a more recent rule. It wasn't there when I applied.
      ---------
      Is your point that the documents aren't checked as thoroughly as one might expect or something else? I didn't get it fully. Since I didn't apply through the RAE route, I can't comment much on that.
      It would be great if you can give more details about your journey in another comment and I can simply pin the comment for others to see!
      --------
      - Yes I meant Tier 4 DES.

    • @KrishnakumarGopalakrishnan
      @KrishnakumarGopalakrishnan 3 роки тому +2

      @@SatyajitSatoDas RAE does endorse software engineering research. See page 19 of the global talent guidance PDF. You don't even need recent papers or patents. Even pre-prints on ArXiV will do. Yes, 3 years ILR for exceptional promise from RAE/Royal Society is introduced for global talent visa. However, if you had been endorsed under the old T1 Exceptional Talent by RAE/Royal Society, you can still benefit from the accelerated settlement (see the global talent transition section for T1 endorsement/visa holders in the guidance).
      Tech nation based endorsements (be it GTV or the old T1 scheme) absolutely require you to wait for 5 years before ILR is granted, and your T2 visa time doesn't count. This means not only a longer wait time for settlement, but also you have to pay the IHS surcharge for 5 years instead of just 2 or 3 years. This is now a whopping £600 per year beginning from Oct 2020.
      My journey was simple. BTech from India, MS from Virginia Tech, PhD from Imperial College London. About 6 years of full-time industry experience. Applied for stage 1 endorsement on Feb 20, 2020 when the scheme was introduced. Just one reco letter needed from a UK-based academic. Submitted that from my PhD prof. Currently post-docing at UCL. Standard 3 page CV. Had only 2 journal papers, but additionally had a couple of pre-prints pending acceptance. A couple of conference articles. 2 patents. So, managed to get the overall number to about 9 out of the 10 possible placeholders. Wrote a standard 500 word personal statement. Got peer-reviewed and endorsed in mid-April 2020. Submitted stage 2 application, and after a few months of Covid-19 biometric delays, got visa approval decision on Sep 7, 2020. BRP is on the way.

    • @SatyajitSatoDas
      @SatyajitSatoDas  3 роки тому

      @@KrishnakumarGopalakrishnan Thanks for all the details of your journey! Having 2 patents and 6 years of industrial experience is certainly impressive.
      Yeah RAE endorses Software Engineering research. But when I applied, I wasn't sure if they only endorse those who plan to continue doing research. But I guess in retrospect, I could have applied RAE endorsement and gotten an accelerated settlement as you mentioned.
      But one thing about Tech Nation endorsement which may not be obvious from outside is the access to the network of Tech Nation visa alumni. It is definitely a nice group of people who come from various Tech/Business background and that can help one in future!
      Is there similar group for RAE endorsed people?

    • @KrishnakumarGopalakrishnan
      @KrishnakumarGopalakrishnan 3 роки тому

      @@SatyajitSatoDas Good points. There is no equivalent mentorship cohorts for RAE funded folks, but universities and research organizations typically make up for somewhat this through on-campus groups, as well as networking opportunities through national and international conferences. I assume it would take quite a bit of voluntary push to reach out to these successful alumni and eke out time in their diaries. Given all the pros and cons, in my viewpoint, the shorter settlement time of Royal Society/RAE endorsed applications seems to slightly outweigh the access to tech nation visa alumni. Finally, do you mind renaming your video title to "T1 exceptional talent visa" with (now rebranded as Global Talent Visa), or something similar? It is slightly misleading to those landing here to hear rules about the T1 visa (for example 5 years settling time for RAE is no longer correct). Even if you pin my original comment, most people viewing on mobile devices will not see the comment. For the benefit of such viewers, it may be worthwhile to consider an overlapping annotation block with a one-line of updated info played at the relevant time-step.
