At our local Bikes for the World charity, a frame with a stripped crank would be scrapped without being able to salvage cranks or bottom bracket. A tool like this would improve the "harvest" of parts for 3rd world bike programs.
thx for this tip. i have a motobecane grand tour bike where the non drive side crank arm´s thread is totally worn and i was thinking about removing the whole bb and just bang out the axle softly with a mallet.

Wouldn't the crank arm already be destroyed if you ripped the threads out? What's the reason to try to save it from further damage?

Don't think that's gonna work, most bikes have a threaded bearing retainer on both sides of the bb?
