Back at it again with the Moka Pot brew guide. I love the old-school feel of the Bialetti Moka pot. The vintage vibes are strong and nothing tops off a Saturday morning like a strong hit of Moka pot coffee. Truly hope you enjoy this review. I am using the 6 cup Moka Pot in this video.

I like this guide from this guy. Easily understandable, not feeling "know it all", laid back, encourages you to explore your ways beyond his. Pretty cool. Thank you for the insights, big help for someone here who's new into using moka pot
Thanks so much buddy! I truly appreciate the feedback! Comments like this make it all worth it! Truly appreciate you watching and enjoy your Moka Pot! It’s a fun device!
but . . . .
He leaves out important info though (I can think of 2 things off the top of my head) that you HAVE to do to not deal with the pretty explosive valve release activating and messing with your moka pot.
This is everything I want from a coffee brew guide
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching! I truly appreciate that buddy!
he is doing some things wrong
This guy is so funny!! @ 3:42 "on a Saturday, just trying to stay alive" - hilarious - a great video by the way! Just love your casual nature.
Haha thanks so much for watching buddy. I try to keep it as fun as possible. Hope you enjoy the Moka pot!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee Absolutely!! Keep up the good work!
Will do my friend!
This guy is quite relatable.. I mean I like his friendly, easy going approach... the way he talks to the camera makes one to watch the entire video. Kudos to him!
Thanks so much for the kind words! I truly appreciate hearing that. I try to keep it fun and simple. Coffee should be fun and enjoyable. Thanks so much for watching and have a blessed 2022!
My buddy Joe and I have recently gotten into the moka pot, and I gotta say: coffee from a moka pot is like halfway between espresso and an americano--not as condensed as the former, but not as thinned-out as the latter. Makes for a rich taste that's still smooth and silky. Plus, _I_ think it kicks a little harder.
It’s also great for coffee in the outdoors. I have them in all different sizes and use them every week multiple times. Great video🤙🏾
I haven’t tried it out doors yet. I need to make that happen soon… heck that could be a cool video… thanks so much for watching!
Going to get my daughter one of these for her birthday. She is the coffee connoisseur at my house. Great video, Rob.
Thanks so much Fred! I think she would like it. It’s a fun conversation piece too! Truly appreciate you watching buddy!
Great video. Love the good ‘ole boy preppy guy vibe with the trucker hat and polo shirt. Good coffee is for everyone!
haha I love that description! Its like the guy that don't fit in anywhere so he just stands in the middle. haha Thanks so much for watching my friend. Truly appreciate it!
I dug this review. I’ve watched a lot. Yours sounds practical & sensible. I also don’t know why one wouldn’t just pour the coffee out immediately. I did read that starting with hot water reduces the chance of bitter coffee as you end up cooking it for less time. Looking forward to getting started once mine arrives. Thx for the video!
Thanks so much for watching Frank! I truly appreciate it. It’s a fun brewer once you get the hang of it. It does take a few tries to find the sweet spot as far as grind size and stuff goes. Hope you enjoy it!
You know what, I've seen it allot in others videos they just poured immmmmmmedatey. Don't understand it
@@iliyanivanov7337 Thanks for watching buddy!
I do mine almost exactly like you do except for that last bit. I try to prevent blow-by, which is when the coffee spews at the end of the boil. Preventing this controls for bitterness. I only want to taste the bean if possible. Good video.
Thanks so much my friend! Ya, I have recently started to pull it before that point. You are correct, it does cut that bitterness down more. Truly appreciate you watching buddy!
The 'blow-by' is actually called Strombolism or The Stromboli effect(after the volcano - make sense). To be avoided, as after that starts, the coffee is boiling in the top chamber and becomes bitter.
@@nessieg23 Thanks so much for the info! I truly appreciate that. Been experimenting around with this and it has a pretty big effect on the coffee.
I like the bitterness haha.
Yep, blow by is where most of that bitterness comes from. Ever time I stop it before that the bitterness is way lower.
Great video! I’m just getting in to “proper” coffee, don’t have the most sensitive palate and can’t always tell the difference between different brewing methods, but moka pot is hands down my favourite. I get a great rich taste from it and something about the brewing process itself feels much more satisfying than any other method!
Ya it definitely has that vintage feel to brewing. I like it on cold rainy mornings where I can take my time and have fun with it.
Thank you so much for your quick and easy instructions on how to use Moka Pot. WOW! I just brewed my first one and worked a treat. I added sugar and créme. Yummy! I was secured as you mentioned that it could explode LOL. Love your sense of humour and presentation. Thanks a million.
No problem! Truly happy to hear you enjoyed it! Have fun with the Moka Pot!
Thanks, brother. I used a dark, Vienna roast. I have been doing my own home roasting, so this was a robusta bean that I used. It came out strong! I will have to work on my grounds to water ratio. I added more hot water until I found the taste I liked. 😋
Ya adding water can def help get that taste where you want it! Hope you have been enjoying it!
Thank you for you videos brother! I’m opening up a roastery & cafe in Japan this August. Your videos have been a great deal of helpful information, inspiration, and entertainment. Keep up the good work!
So cool to hear that man! Good luck with the venture and if I ever get a chance to visit Japan I would love to check it out! Thanks for watching buddy!
"Zen-out" ingenious and well said. Thanks.
Haha! Thanks my friend! Truly appreciate you watching!
I use a 6-cup Bialetti to make one mug of coffee and keep it as simple as possible. Just use the funnel to measure out the coffee, use an ancient grinder, then put the pot on the stove. Never had a bad coffee from it.
Heck ya! Keep it simple. That’s the way I look at it too. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee One thing I forgot to add. I also use a heat diffuser because I have a gas cooktop. The diffuser keeps the coffee from getting scorched while brewing, helping to eliminate the bitter taste. Thank you for your reply. 👍
I like to place the Aeropress paper filter wetted onto the gasket/metal filter. Then preheat the water in a kettle and pour it into the boiler.
Thanks I had one of these sitting around the house n I wanted to know how to make some Java in there
Hey thank you for the video~!
Im using timemore c2 grinder, im doind 12 clicks for a while now fore medium roasted coffee.
Should i go finer? or coarser?
Im using as well a Bialetti brikka new model, should i use hot water or cold as the manual ? thank you!
I usually do 11 clicks on mine. I use cold water just because it is easier to deal with. I have tried the hot water method and honestly in a blind taste test I can really tell the difference. I pull it off the stove pretty early before it starts to sputter though now. Thanks for watching buddy!
Good one Rob. Usually too much over thinking with Coffee. Thanks. Cheers from Australia.
Truly appreciate you watching my friend and thanks for the kind words! Hope all is going well over there!
Came back to post at 1:50 is my favourite part and always gets me chuckling. I have a 1cup and a 3cup. My 3cup holds 15g of coffee powder and around 130-140g of water. My little one is probably around 100g of water and g of coffee powder. I use the 3cup due to us Americans prefer more coffee. I like more because of taste. I know 1-12 cup Moka pots are based on Italy measurements.
It took me awhile to realize the “cup” was not the standard measurement but based on Italys espresso measurement. I think a lot of people still are confused by that and I wish I would have covered that in the video.
Yeah which is why it's not uncommon to dilute the coffee down with hot water to taste. I like to use a 3 cup moka pot and then fill up my thermos with hot water the rest of the way at about a 1:1 ratio and can sip on it all the way until lunchtime.
I like your style brother, watched some hipster turkeys talking about the 'proper' way to make moka coffee. Ya dang right it is my coffee; I'm gunna make it how I want and drink it how I like. Keep on keep'n on man. Great tips, great video.
Some of us just want a good cup without all the pretension.
I use regular coffee filters, cutting them to fit the basket size then wet the filter snd put on the bottom of the receiving chamber.
I also boil the water in the bottom chamber, then turn the heat all the way down so i can drop the basket in, the go back to medium heat after tightening the top. Turn the heat to low once the coffee first starts filling the chamber.
I also do not find it necessary to cool the lower chamber to stop the brewing. As long as you brew it slowly there wont be a strong gurgle at the end.
Do you put coffee grounds in sink or trash?
I dump mine in the trash. I do not have a garbage disposal or anything in the sink.
What a fun and informative video! It truly is a fun little gadget, I look forward to my coffee every morning. Thank you :)
Thanks so much and thanks so much for watching! I just got a knew stainless steel one so I have been playing around with it. Just something about the Moka pot.
Thanks for the demo
No problem buddy! Truly hope you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
Just got one today! Currently seasoning it. This is the best coffee making guide I’ve seen. You rock dude!
Thanks so much! I truly appreciate hearing that! Hope you enjoy it and hit me up with any questions!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee more often than not, I don't get that smooth flowing brew. it spits out a bit. what's usually causing that? too much coffee in the filter?
I don’t think it would be to much coffee. It is most likely the heat. Adjust the temp down after a bit of time or right when you see it come out. It takes some experimenting to find the right amount of heat. I turn my heat down a bit towards the end to mitigate the pressure being so high. That will give a nice easy flow upward instead of spraying out. Don’t get discouraged if it takes a few times to find that sweet spot. Good luck!
I like your attitude towards coffee making cuz that’s ultimately what we are all here for and why we care about coffee in the first place..
on a side note: I think you technically shouldn’t put the aluminium ones (like yours) in the dish washer as they oxidise.. however, if the flavour doesn’t suck who am I to tell you what to do ;)
Haha! You are correct my friend. I found out the hard way. I truly appreciate you watching and thanks for the kind words! Cheers to better coffee and good attitudes!
@H C nope those don’t oxidize but it will likely make your first couple coffees taste a bit like soap/detergent
Omg. I just found your channel. I love you and everything about it!!!!

Thanks for making this video educational and entertaining at the same time. I watched a few before this and I was so bored I had a hard time watching it. You are a breath of fresh air! ❤️☕️
How does the coffee taste compared to a conventional filter machine?
It’s completely different. It’s more bold and stronger tasting. The best way to explain it is the taste is between a French press and espresso shot. It is very different from filter brews. Thanks for watching my friend!
Can we switch paper Aeropress with puck screen (espresso's filter) for moka pot filter?
Had to have been the most entertaining video explanation I’ve seen. Thank you!

Videos like this make me excited about my coffee when I get a decent grinder
Heck ya! A decent grinder makes a world of difference. Kyle Rowsell has a good review on some great hand grinders if you haven't checked it out yet. Thanks so much for watching buddy!
What's the best way to make a cup for my wife and I at the same time?
You would need to get one of the bigger Moka pot units to make enough or buy two smaller ones and run them at the same time. You can just split it and add extra water to each cup to personal liking. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy it buddy!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee OK cool, thanks for the reply!
I don't really worry about it. Wack some fresh, fine ground coffee in there and put it on low. Wait for it to start making a noise and then pour it straight into the cup and down that bad boy. Great vid!
Haha my kind of coffee people! Yes indeed! Thanks so much for watching!
How to chose the right size of moka pot? Is 2 cup size enough for one person or should I go for 3 cup size? What is the size of yours? Great video, thanks a lot! 😊🥰
Mine is the 6 cup. One thing to remember with the Moka pot is 1 cup is equal to about 1.5 ounces. The cups are not the US standard measurement. That confuses people sometimes.
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee sooo I guess 3 cups are something like 130ml ~4.5 ounces. Thanks a lot, and for a fast response as well! Have a great day! 🥰
New to Moka, just what I was looking for!
Welcome to the Moka club! Haha glad it was helpful and thanks so much for watching!
How much Click for that grinder to mokapot?
Depends on the grinder but think I was using 10-11 on the slim with EB burrs.
Today was my first time making my coffee with a moka pot and you got me through it! Thank you!
Haha glad to hear my friend! It gets better over time. It’s a tough one to get right the first time. The coffee gets better too! Haha Thanks for watching my friend!
I'm still having problems with mine ... Always splurting hahaha
But I'm on my 1st week of Moka Pot making so far I like the super bitter taste.
I love black coffee.
How many clicks to set on the timemore sir to get that size?
I do 11 on the E&B burrs! Thanks so much for watching buddy!
What size pot is the one in your video? Thanks so much for your content! It was excellent!
This one is a 6 cup. For these devices one cup is 1.5 ounces. So it can get confusing. A 6 cup Moka pot will do about 9 ounces of coffee. Truly appreciate you watching buddy!
thank you for this video. I like your draft dude! How much do you grind on the handgrinder, and is there any good cheaper ones?
I just bought a 12 cup so I can make basically 2 cups I can take to work. This thing never has a steady stream, it is constantly "coughing" so I have to keep the lid on so it doesn't make a mess. Any tips?
Your heat is to hot. Turn the heat down little by little and eventually you will find a sweet spot where it trickles at a good flow. Once it gets low on water it will start to cough and I pour it at that point. The little bit of coffee left will just start to turn your cup bitter. Hope that helps buddy!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee Thank you! I'll try that
Awesome! You caught me working on a thumbnail so glad I could answer quick!
what is the brand of coffee you are using?
That brand was “Revision Roasters”. It’s a dude from SoCal who is a veteran and he roasts on the bullet. www.revisionroasters.com
Great video. Thanks Rob!
No problem buddy and thanks so much for watching! Truly appreciate it!
Rob you’re using a “4-6 cup” moka pot. If one uses the smaller “3 cup” pot, grind about 15 to 17grams of coffee. I put the sizes in quotes, cause the “cups” the Italians are talking about, are those tiny espresso demi-tasse.2oz cups.
Exactly. Took me awhile to figure out the cups where not actual American cups but espresso shots. Haha
Love your style! “You gotta like it” that’s all there is! Too many people measuring and weighing and laying down the law… Italian way is soul and passion, not science and data! Relax, drink, like it!!
Yes!! Exactly! So many people get caught up in the data and that is fine but life and coffee is meant to be enjoyed! Thanks so much for watching!
how many clicks on the timemore slim to get a perfect coffee in moka? Thank you
I would say around 10 on the E&B burrs. That’s what I have found gives me a great taste.
how many clicks do you go on your timemore ?
About 10 on the E&B burrs. It may not be the traditional grind but that’s what I have found to like. I use lighter roasted coffee too.
I've been looking at alot of reviews for a moka pot. This one is by far the most informative. A straight forward review with none of the hipster/barista pretentious bs! Liked, commented and subscribed!

I enjoyed the video thoroughly and it was just what I needed (in light of the close winter holidays). But I'm only learning English, so I was kind of curious about your accent😅What kind is it?
Hey! Thanks so much for watching! I am from Louisiana so it is what I guess people would consider a "souther" accent mixed with a possible "cajun" sound. IDK.. lol Heck I am still trying to learn English to it seems. What about you, where are you from?
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee Thanks for the response! I myself am Ukrainian and there's little to no foreigners here at all, so I don't have much practice with recognising accents. Yours is really cool though, that I can say even without much experience. Have a nice day! 😌

I always stir the coffee in the Moka before serving.
This dude looks a really nice person. I still don’t have one of this mokat pot but I definitely will buy one. I’m curious to try this taste. I love coffee, specially using French press. Thanks for the video. Was indeed really helpful!!!
What a nice comment Fernando! The Moka pot is a fun device to use. It’s such a different taste than all the other brewers. Truly appreciate you watching and hit me up with any questions when you get one!
A moka pot is what I started with when I discovered specialty coffee. Good times.
Yes indeed! I know it’s pretty common in Europe but especially like where I live many people have never even heard of it. Thanks for watching buddy and looking forward to speaking with you soon!
Love this guy!
Well hell ya! I love you back my friend! Thanks so much for watching!
my first cup tasted like ass. I have a baratza encore and it hink the grind was way too coarse.. so ill give the 9 setting a try next
Lol I absolutely enjoyed your video just bought mine two days ago you made it simple and to the point keep the videos coming you make it enjoyable to watch thanks again
I truly appreciate hearing that buddy! Makes it all worth while. Hope you enjoy your Moka pot and have a blessed 2022!
does it taste more like espresso or regular drip coffee? also, do you tamp the grounds at all in the filter?
I would say more on the espresso side. It’s pretty strong and most will mix it with something. Lighter roasted coffees (to me) are enjoyable straight but if it get darker roasted I would add some milk or something.
No tamping. I've heard moka pots create approximately 2 bars while espresso machines are in the 9 range.
So the water at 2 will flow thru everything pretty evenly with a loose puck.
Hi, nice vid! How many clicks you are using on timemore grinder?
On the E&B burrs I am using 10. Works good for my taste. Thanks so much for watching buddy!
Great review! As for for underwear. Once a day at home. But when traveling, every four; front then rotate 180, inside out, rotate 180 one more time .
Nice strategy my friend! I may have to test that method out! Haha thanks so much for watching buddy! Truly appreciate it!
This made my day haha, I love your humour! 😂😂
Thank you so much! I just checked you channel out and you have a great sense of humor too! You ever going to start back vlogging??
As far as I know, there's no need to use soap on the Moka pot, just run it under warm water and use a soft sponge or even your finger.
I only used something else to clean it when I bought my Moka pot. It was second hand and I put some citric acid and water and "brew" it once, dumped the liquid, then I repeated, this time only with water.
Thinking back, it might not be a great idea to use any acid on the pot, but I wanted to give it a proper cleaning since someone else had used it before me.
I def figured out the hard way! Ya, putting it in the dishwasher is not good. Truly appreciate you watching my friend and thanks for the advice!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee what happened when you put it in the dishwasher?
The protective coating came off. After awhile it will tarnish.
I still have yet to buy a moka pot. I’ll be picking one up ASAP though.
Have you seen the new Bialetti Brikka pot with faux crema?
Ya the Brikkas look cool. Def have a more modern appeal. I think if I get another one I will try and get a stainless version. But they are probably pricey. The Moka Pot is fun to plan on but it definitely is a different taste than all the pour over styles. Took me a good while to find a method I liked.
Love-I ain’t got time for that (cooling down process) I need to drink my coffee. Just got my moka pot and love it but still getting the timing down.
Yes indeed. Once you get a good routine down it gets more enjoyable. Thanks so much for watching!
I love my moka pot I use esspresso ground coffee, I've timed mine on medium heat for 12 minutes with esspresso packed, I make a Cappuccino with mine.
Nice!! I need to start experimenting more with it. I have heard so many good ideas from people sharing. Thanks so much for watching!
Your welcome, I only know from watching UA-cam videos, I'm still learning
A Moka Pot is a staple in Cuban household. It's how Cuban coffee is made. I have a few of different sizes. You can go just past (higher) than the valve with water. Don't worry, it won't blow up. Been doing it that way most my life (30 years). I brew a couple batches just before going to work daily. Make it just before going to sleep too. Oh and the Bialetti brand is the best. Make sure it's made in Italy. Will last years even with daily use.
Hey Joey! Thanks so much for the advice buddy!! You must drink the heck out of some coffee. Do you live in Cuba? I can’t wait to visit one day once everything gets back to normal! Thanks so much for watching my friend!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee Hey Rob! Nah... I live in Los Angeles. I've been to Cuba a few times though to visit family. When it comes to coffee, it's just cultural. They say you know you're Cuban if you've been drinking coffee as a toddler. Go to Miami and you see little coffee windows here and there where you can buy coffee by the shot.
Oh cool! My wife is from LA. We visit every other year or so. I have heard that before about Cuba but I didn’t know if it was true about toddlers and coffee. I mean hey, you gotta start drinking it sometime! Lol that’s cool man. Ya, I know it opened up to the US here awhile back but I don’t know if that is still the case. If I ever catch a window I want to visit. Hope all has been well out there and stay safe brother!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee Oh by the way, the pot that I use in the mornings (well most the time I use it) is the 1 Cup Bialetti Moka Pot. It's big enough for 2 shots of coffee (about 2 oz each) in case you wanted to share, or one big shot. 2 teaspoons of sugar is enough for the 1 Cup. I brew a batch when I get up in the morning and one before going to work, because I like it hot and fresh. I have the 3 cup Bialetti for when there's visitors. Just keep the metal strainer clean and clear (holes get plugged up). Sometimes the rubber gasket needs replacing when they get old. My grandma has a 6 cup monster that she has used for years. She brews a batch, puts it in a thermos and pours a shot every now and then and repeats when the thermos is empty. The Cuban coffee brands I use are La Llave, sometimes Bustelo. Lavazza coffee has an interesting flavor. I believe Lavazza is an Italian brand (I could be wrong).
Ya I have spoken to few Cuban people who drink the Lavazza. It’s crazy how many Cubans have reached out over this post. I’ve had about 5 now and they all have similar stories to yours. Family, coffee, memories and grandmas seems to be the consensus. Haha I love it!
Thanks man! Love the video.
Glad to hear buddy!! Truly appreciate you checking it out!
Nice step-by-step. Easy going. Sometimes i feel brewing coffee is like nuclear physics
i always associate moka pots with camping with my dad as a kid. this is how he always had his coffee when camping
What a great memory. My kids have been talking about going camping for the first time. I may have to start that tradition as well! I have never brewed it over a fire. Thanks for watching buddy!
Loved the vid, very clear and informative. I just bought one of these and excited to brew with it. There's one thing that's bugging me a little , the instruction manual of the ones i bought (same brand; bialetti 300ml) says not to wash with detergent, i think that means no soap right?
Yes do not wash it with soap in the dishwasher. It will remove the coating on the side. I learned the hard way. Lol
how do you get that cream man, please help a brother out
Fresh coffee and I have found to get good creams it depends on the roast level and type of coffee. What type of coffee are you using?
You are not overthinking it. What is the point of cooling the moka first and THAN pour the coffee into the cup? You are right.
Exactly! Thanks so much for watching my friend!!
That's how it's done folks...great job. Enjoy!
Thanks Thomas! I truly appreciate you watching buddy!
Yeah. I love using mokapot.. easiest way for my coffee although sometimes i do enjoy single origins with pour over.
Single origin pour over all week for me. Weekends I like to change it up and experiment!
Which grinder you using?
I’m using the Timemore Chestnut Slim with the E&B burrs. Good little grinder. It is in the description of the video I believe. I’m wanting to say it’s around $125 now.
This was such an informative video but also hilarious lol
Haha! Thanks so much! Glad to hear you enjoyed it and thanks so much for watching!
Call video, I am far from a coffee connoisseur but I rock this pot out but I just called up my Cuban coffee pot👍🏽 I did not know anything about a mocha pot👍
Ya it was invented in Italy around WWII. I know it is huge in the Cuban community and traditions from what some people have told me. So much so that they call it the Cuban coffee pot! Haha thanks so much for watching my friend!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee interesting....thx! I live in Florida and so of course there's a pretty huge Cuban population here and I just always thought they were cute, but espresso gets me hopped right up!😂
It hops me up as well. The dosage of the "moka cuban pot" is pretty high. I think that is another reason. I cup from it will last you all day. haha
Great job! Great video!
Thanks buddy! Truly appreciate you checking it out!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee This morning I have made my coffee following your video and it tastes great!
Nice! I actually just got a little stainless steel one that I have been using and I may to video on it soon. Glad it helped!
Please my Friend in my pot i can make 300ml of water.... But how much grammes of coffee ? Hoffmann said 1/10 ... Well 30grammes but its too strong :(
You can add extra water to dilute it down. It’s kind of a strong concentrate at 1/10.
Bialetti said they designed the Moka to be a measuring cup, so you'll always get the perfect ratio of coffee to water if you fill the reservoir with cold or room temperature water to touch the bottom of the valve, and loosely fill the basket with medium-fine ground espresso and level it off with the rim, but don't press it down.
you're very funny man...i like the way you explained your steps of making coffee using moka pot...
Thanks so much buddy! I truly appreciate the kind words!
Thanks dude.
No problem my friend! Hope you enjoyed it!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee helped alot forsure and liked that you diddnt make it too seriouse.
I just can't seem to get concistant crema.
Thanks again.
Ya that is hard. I think it depends on the coffee you select a lot to. If you haven’t tried a different coffee or a different roast level that may help in getting that nice crema people like.
hello. Cool vid
I was wondering what clicks you use on the timemore for making moka pot coffee. Thanks.
About 10 clicks on the stainless burrs. 9 on the E&B burrs. Depending on what you got. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee cheers mate will give it a go (steel)
Just moved to Italy for a lil while and decided to try out a moka pot because “do like the Italians do.” I’m a fan of French pressed coffee, drip coffee, and I even had an espresso machine in the past.
I wish I watched this first before trying. Went with another vid that mentioned to use hot water first. Well I did and almost burned my hands trying to put the top on. Even had steam come out from the side because the gasket didn’t seal properly.
Next time I’ll use cold and see what happens.
haha ya you have to have some pot holders or heat resistant gloves. I have did some tests and the difference in taste is just not worth it to me. Hope you are enjoying your time in Italy. I am dying to go back. It has to be the most historically rich place I have ever been to. Walking the streets of Rome was mind blowing. I am a history nerd so it got me. Thanks for watching my friend!
I heard that if you have a larger moka pot but dont fill its porta-potty full of potent coffee grinds to the rim (lets say 16g of coffee for a 6 pot/330ml) then it would make sense to use an aeropress filter to kind of equalize the pressure a little for a better brew. Ive been brewing coffee with the pour over method for years but decided i wanted to try something like a moka pot. I havent slept for 3 days straight so its safe to say that i still have a lot of learning and tweaking to do.
Haha ya the Moka pot will pack a punch for sure! It is one of those devices with such a unique flavor you almost have to tweak all the small variables until you find what you like. It seems everyone has a slightly different way they like their coffee from the Moka pot. Thanks so much for watching and good luck mastering it!
Best moka pot tutorial I have yet seen. “How to make moka pot coffee like a MAN!”
Not with pre-heated water, or rinsing with cold water, measuring out precise metric measurements. Just make the dang coffee like a Man!
Women, nerds, hippy-dippy hipsters, and blue-haired They/Them type people need all that precision to make their perfect little prissy-sissy cup of coffee.
Just make the coffee! Sometimes it may not be quite as good as others, just deal with it and drink it anyway. Handle your business like a man.
I’ve been making moka pot coffee for the better part of two decades. This fella here shows you like it is, just make the coffee and enjoy it.
His moka coffee was foaming with toxic masculinity.
Good job dude. Great tutorial video of the moka pot.
Haha thanks so much for watching my friend! It ant quite as manly as that tasty looking barbecue you got but it is pretty damn close!
Hi there, how many turns on your Timemore valve would you recommend going for?
I do mine at about 10 clicks with the EandB burrs. That’s what I have found is my favorite.
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee Thank you! I'll try between 10 to 14 and see which is better
Best of luck!!
Great video, thanks!
Thanks! Truly appreciate you checking it out!
Dude I literally just got one today. Great timing!
Heck ya dude! It honestly may take some time to dial in and find a recipe you like but it’s just a classic and has a completely different taste than most brewers. Welcome to the Moka club and thanks for watching!!
The level of energy you had talking about moka pot was super wholesome and funny, I loved it from beginning to end
People think I'm crazy of drinking coffee straight or having something with it
The season determines the absolute coffee snob and they will tweak according to preference indeed 😌😌😌😌😌
Again beautiful explanation and very awesome thank you for this and definitely going to try and wake up
Thanks for such a kind comment! I truly appreciate that! Hope all has been well and hope you have an amazing week! Enjoy your coffee!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee Yes I have, I use the cafe Bustello and tried it with ginger root powder and poured it over honey and it's amazing and beautiful 😌😌😌😌💕💕💕 Yes I'm enjoying every moment, it brings my power up to an 100 like it's amazing
I use the filter trick too. It's a great way to make coffee.
Yes indeed! It def keeps some of the sediment down.
Thanks for the vid
Best Moka pot review ever.
Thanks so much! Really happy to hear that! I try to keep it as fun and strait forward as possible. Truly appreciate you watching!
@@RobPirieCedarOtaCoffee Shared it to Facebook, my friends loved you and your down to earth manner too. I'm trying to get them to level up to espresso. Moka is a good start!!
It is indeed! It is defiantly a good step into espresso. After using the Moka pot for awhile it developed my taste for straight espresso where I actually truly enjoy it plain now. Had one this weekend and it blew me away. Thanks so much for sharing!
